Thomas, my old highschool physics teacher used to say "as long as you sound like you know what you are talking about, people will believe you." I definitely get that vibe from you and it's great!!
Your channel is fantastic! This is my first time watching. I am flooded with a range of emotions as I watch. When I was in college in upstate NY, I too was in a group of friends that used to hike and visit the high peaks region as often as we could. Over the 47 years (yes I climbed in the Jurassic era-when all we worried about was acid rain) we lost touch with each other as we went off in our own directions to pursue life. Now I have to really push myself just to just walk my neighborhood (I still use hiking poles but for another reason). You conjured up enough long forgotten memories that I will be looking up some of my old friends. Thanks!
Mt Katahdin is such a challenging hike. Thanks for the hard work to bring us along the adventure. You did a lot on this road trip, great job planning it Thomas!
I watch these videos several times for many reasons. They are educational, relaxing, inspiring, funny, and restores my faith in humanity knowing there are people like you out there. Bravo guys, bravo. It was a simple decision to become a Patreon member.
@@IdRatherBeHiking Yes you do ! and some very good ones at that ! Everyone reading this go check out I'd Rather Be Hiking his page for excellent videos with drone footage.!! you can thank me later . Thanks for making this reply that's how I found your page.
Always beautifully made videos, makes me want to go out there. Envy hiking with a few good friends, hard to come by these days when everyone is busy with their own stuff. Sometimes i just let the videos run in the background while working from home. Felt “accompanied” just by listening to you guys voices. Calm and soothing.
Have never seen an Adventure Archives video I didn’t love ❤️. You 4 have the most FUN together. The only problem is that they have to end until the next adventure. 🙋🏼♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻 Knife’s Edge 😱😱😱😱
The climb up Mt Katahdin made my scalp tighten. The adrenalin junkie in me wanted to be there with you, however, those days are behind me. I am now more in line with Andrew and Bryan. Thank you, thank you for an exciting adventure from beginning to end. You guys are living life and I admire you so much for it!
This was absolutely wonderful --from the network quality editing to all the small, engaging moments. You guys are exceptional and I can't begin to express how much I enjoyed this! Fantastic!
Coming off any trail left off left on, or right off right on. Every time I got off I would whisper it to myself. Never got lost on my 2017 through hike.
Love your videos! You know what really got me - you had been hiking for not even half a day, and you were above the clouds, and you got there ON FOOT...!!! Crazy if you think of it...!
To everyone who is reading this, you’re beautiful and an amazing person. Please exercise frequently and eat more fruits/veggies. I wish you all good health, great success, and everlasting happiness!!!!!!
This is my favorite Adventure Archive video! The great Northeast of our country has so much history and beauty. I am so glad you chose to take an extensive trip there and to make an feature length video if your journey. We have taken the cog train to the top of Mt. Washington several times and the beauty of Acadia National Park is worth the visit. There is so much that you didn’t get to experience that I hope takes you back for further expeditions. Lastly, the joy of being able to experience the friendship between the 4 of you adds to the enjoyment of your videos. I hope you always appreciate the unique bond you’ve built. Thanks again!
My friends and I did Katahdin today. It was as brutal as you depict here, but it was 100% worth it. I’m so glad that we saw this episode two years ago that gave us the inspiration to do this amazing hike. Now to go rest my poor legs.
I love the comments you all make. The comment about Skyrim got me into that mode and a lot of the scenery in New Hampshire reminded me of the scenery of Skyrim.
Enchanting and living every moment of your adventure - your love of nature and your commitment to each other . . . the shared fun and hardships . . . it feels I am sharing all this with you. Thank you for this life worth living.
We have just found your videos, wow ! We subscribe, we have been binge watching you’ll trips.Your trips your music, wow are as good as any National Geographic video we have ever seen. Thank you’ll for helping us get outside walking again.
Amazing ending to an amazing trip! Felt like I was along with you guys the entire time haha. Very much enjoyed the fellowship and comratory! This has been one of my favourite videos you guys have makde so far
Thank you so much for making the last 2 hours 15 minutes and 58 seconds such an amazing experience even though I wasn't even there. I loved watching every minute of your adventure. I have major back problems so I can't do a lot of walking or hiking but I do like to camp. I just started car camping 2 years ago and I absolutely love it but have not been camping out of Maine yet in my car Just because I'm doing it solo and I wanna stick close to home. I loved that you were in Maine. I was born and raised in Southern Maryland and moved up to Maine 21 years ago and would never ever leave this beautiful state. It was like moving back in time 20 years. I hope you do more New England adventures. Great job guys and I can't wait for the next one!
The Mt. Washington auto road is there b/c when automobiles were new an annual auto race up the mountain served to showcase auto makers, beginning in 1904. Its the oldest hill climb race in USA
fabulous...thank you for another great adventure, although the climb was frightening.(for me). The four of you are a true inspiration to young kids 💕👍🧑🤝🧑👬
After watching your videos I always gain a new perspective. Thank you for creating content like this, most content creators nowadays esp those so-called "influencers" are garbage, you guys are one of the few that really make a difference.
Wow beautiful scenery now the mountains I don't know if I want to do any mountain climbing but it was simply just beautiful thank you for sharing your trip God bless you and have a good day
As a New Englander (Vermont) I hope you all come back to the North East. There’s so much beauty here I know you would love and appreciate it. PS Your Katahdin hike video is perfection. I’ve watched it five times and I’m sure I will again.
Robbie has the metabolism of a 10 yr old, he is always hungry lol. I've not seen many videos of doing this route on knife edge. Such a great day to be blessed on that mountain, what a view! Glad you guys are still doing your thing and bring us along with you.
1:42:00---Thomas says good morning all happy and full of energy and the response"it feels like you're a camp counselor named Josh"😂😂😂 thank you guys. I need laughter, And it's icing on top of the beauty and the lovely camaraderie
Such timing! This was the perfect mental escape from the blizzard outside (Detroit, MI). Loved the juxtaposition of the grueling mountain climb above the clouds opposite the peaceful walk through a myco-paradise. And I loved the length, personally. Another gem, guys! Thanks for all the love and sweat you put into this 2-part epic. Can't wait to see what you have planned for #50!
Just got done watching this and loved it as it brings back so many fond memories of my time in New England. I just moved to Las Vegas from Massachusetts where I did all my rock climbing, ice climbing, and hiking in New Hampshire. In August 2015, 6 rock climbing friends and I hiked to Katahdin via the Hunt Trail (AT) - in and back. It took us 11 hours and was amazing...I'll never forget it. Mt. Washington in NH is a pretty amazing peak. I drove my grandchildren up the Auto Road, but I've also hiked the Presidential Traverse over 3 days/2 nights and that was amazing as well! And finally, I drove up the Auto road to do some rock climbing up the side of Mt. Washington. I've hiked so many mountains in NH, many of which were done solo and in every season. I will always love New England! Thank you for an entertaining video!
I loved the ending of this video. It’s so very different from your usual after hiking meal. The wrap up discussion brought things full circle. Thank you, guys.
MY DUDES. Why didn’t you say you’d be headed to the New Haven area??? I’m so glad you got to sample the local specialty!! New Haven has THE BEST pizza in the country bar none. This is my hill and I shall die on it as a (former) 4th generation local with lots of roots in the area. If you liked the bacon and clam, mashed potato bacon should be your next stop. DEFINITELY hit me up next time you’re in the region, for I can give you a New Haven pizza tour that will change your life forever, mostly via increased risk of heart disease ;)
I never climbed on foot but once went up and down on a motorcycle. OMG, GOING UP WAS TERRIFYING. coming down not so bad. Another time I was on the top leaning on the edge to see if the cog train was coming. A rainbow appeared so close I could almost touch it. It was a misty day! I was in awe to say the least!
Words cannot express how much I love this video! The White Mtns are my special place. I've subscribed and am so excited to follow your adventures. Film quality is top notch!
Awesome video guys! Love that little cabin on the mountain out of everything you guys did on that trip that seemed like the most fun! Remind me of good days back when I was a kid at camp.
Just found your channel and it’s great! My daughter and I are planning to attempt a thru hike of the AT next year (March), so it was interesting to see so much of Khatadin. Most thru hikers don’t show nearly as much detail as you guys did. Thank you!
This was the best adventure I've seen them take. The Presidential range and all of Maine are very hard to compete with for quality wilderness. They missed the white water rafting on the Penobscot River!
It was absolutely freaking awesome and hilarious and nostalgic and inspiring!! I can’t imagine how you can top it off for your 50th!!! Oh man! It’s gonna be so good, I’m excited! Thx guys for doing what you do so well! It brings so much enjoyment.
These huts are how a lot of the hiking in Norway is. You can go from shelter to shelter and get a cold beer and a warm place to sleep, and even a warm room to dry your clothes. Super cool, wish we had it more in the states.

Lonesome Lake! I remember I went there in college, but I couldn't remember the name. It was amazing to relive the experience again through your video. I wish I had photos or video of when we went.
