When I was a teenager I sat in my room one day with a loaded pistol. My life was a mess and I could see no other way out other than to end it. My alcoholic parents were of no help. I had no real friends. As I sat there I told myself that I would just cease to exist after death. The thought suddenly hit me: what if I was wrong about that. I had been wrong before about plenty of things. What if I was wrong about this and I ended up somewhere worse. I put the gun up and thought long and hard about what I had almost done. I never came so close to suicide again.A few years later I converted from atheism to Christianity. I still have depression but I also have the conviction now to fight against it. I am now 64. I greatly admire you for your effort that you have made.
Excellent decision. When flipping a coin, Do we have a soul/spirit? is there really an Eternity... spent in absolute hell? the possibility of choosing wrong, loosing Big time is 50% Never did like those odds myself.
Thanks for sharing that. I'm in a similar position in reverse. I had a rough time with depression as a young man. I was an agnostic but God found me and although I resisted at first I became a happy Christian. After a few decades I wandered away, then got depressed again and have had several failed attempts on my life. I'm too cowardly for pain so have taken lethal overdoses but have been found and saved by hospital against the odds. Anyway long story short I don't get my resistance to God these days, He's on my mind but I try to ignore the thoughts for some reason. Sometimes I think if I do end it at least I'll be happy with Him but then I start doubting his existence.......I'm lonely and have isolated must and know, at the very least, the church would provide community. I guess I've got stubborn and think it's all s waste of time because I want to die, but then again there's something that stops me attempting it again...Which is probably my wife and sons. Mental health services have been useless.
Its 5am in the morning in NZ. I couldn't sleep, got up for a Chai & watched your latest vlog. The tears were streaming down my face when you and Parry stood together in Perth with your subscribers (Boganites?) all around you. This vlog series has had spectacular footage, gorgeously edited and best of all has brought us a real sense of humanity, comarardery & meaning. Best vlog yet Danny! And good on Parry for being such a good mate as '#1 Sidekick'. (I imagine he did get a 'kick in the side' from ya at some stage in your playful moments too). Just thank you, Danny (& Parry).
You have a really genuine friend in David...I truly believe that if you lost everything he would do whatever it took to take care of you and vice versa...A rare find indeed...More priceless than diamonds and gold...A diamond in the rough! God bless you both😊❤
Hey Danny, have you considered putting a call out on your channel asking subscribers to email Honda motorcycles Australia and alert them to your cause. I think 40,000 plus emails may just get them to take notice, view your vlog series, see the exposure you have given their brand and make a sizeable donation. They can afford $20,000 or $30,000.
They broke the mold when they made you MDB. I was certain you would not do the return on the Monkey Bike after the brutal ride you did all week. With your success and money, there is no need to make such sacrifices, but living up to your moto "the show must go on" You sir have done it. Let it be known, MDB is not a quitter.
Stephen Collins of Honda Australia You're only just up the road. Would be great to see the company behind this initiative...... Be a good look for your brand
The heat: I learned my lesson w/ Mr. Sun in the mid-1980's. I had a 5 day weekend coming up and planned to ride my Yamaha Seca Turbo 650 from Seattle, WA. to Tempe, AZ. About 1,500 miles, ONE way. I didn't factor in Mr. Sun. I did just over 1000mi. a day (12 hr+) and when I arrived in Tempe....I was so dehydrated that I had salt stains everywhere on my skin, bleeding knuckles and lips, etc. Passed a bank's reader board with the temperature displayed: 120 degrees fucking F. I had passed out in the cab, the driver thought I was a drug overdose, and drove to the ER. Packed in ice again, IV lines going, etc. I spend 24hr. out of it. The docs told me I was lucky to be alive....and to drink BEFORE I was thirsty. I killed that whole jug between Tempe and LA. I headed due west out of Tempe, headed for LA....and from there, I-5 Northbound to Seattle. The first day I travelled only at night....to avoid the heat. Made it back to Seattle in 2 days. NOT recommended. That trip was in 1985. Ever since, my body can't handle extreme temperatures and if exposed to them, I have severe symptoms of heat prostration, etc......shutting down. If there is a better motovlog out there, I don't know where it is! What an incredible journey you were on, and for a most worthy cause. You are truly one of a kind Daniel (and David). We have got to get you over 100K subs!
What I noticed and what I like about MDB is that people genuinely like him as a person. It’s not about fame or trying to be recognized, people truly like him.
I can't say enough, you guys are terrific, I've been watching your vlogs since the start of the trip and I have to say hats off to both of you for bringing awareness to such a serious problem. I've never been to Australia but hats off to the wonderful, friendly hospitable people you met on the way, it truly has been a wonderful journey. I sincerely hope Honda sees these vlogs and contributes to this great cause. Greetings to you all from Nicaragua, Central America.
no greater honor then to sacrifice for your fellow man. I person that serves others ,is a person with outstanding character, and will be blessed with a full heart.
Honda may not sponsor you, but man, you have the love, respect, and dedication of almost 44K subscribers, brother. That must have been the greatest feeling to have people meet up with you on the road and also waiting for you boys in Perth. What did David do with his Monkey bike? I imagine he just flew back home, yes? Much respect for you, Danny. Y'all ride safe going home.
Respect for making it guys. Awesome. I was 2 hour from home when I got the notification. Couldn't wait. Pulled over to watch. Big balls for not flying home. Take care bogan!!
I donated today my friend, it’s not much but I’m not going to watch without doing my part in paying it forward. Your an inspiration to me and I’m sure thousands of others. Be safe
I’m a Honda guy through and through, the abuse I’ve done to my old Preludes and Civics is crazy and they just keep going. I bought a ‘75 trail 70 bike last summer and I would literally drive it across Canada and not even worry about it,that would be over 7000 kms. Greetings from British Columbia
Fantastic guys you've made me laugh and cry through this journey Well done to the both of you :) Have a safe trip Back Daniel big hugs from me in the UK
You joke around winding Parry up , but I can see that you love each other to bits and have a great friendship I bet it was hard for you both to not travel back together .
After watching that and for the respect I have for you guys I feel like I want to ride to oz from Scotland to shake yer hands Danny . Absolute heart felt respect and well fkn done to you , safe travels ! YOU are the braveheart ! 🇦🇺🏴🇦🇺
What an awesome video!!! 22 veterans commit suicide every day here in the States. I just participated in a four day veteran outdoor retreat here in Florida, and it was pretty incredible. Keep spreading the message about suicide prevention, you’re doing great things sharing your experience and message. Please keep it up!!! And keep kicking ass!!!
Top blokes . You are nuts 🥜. Total respect from 🇬🇧 UK . Best wishes from sunny Devon and yes it’s raining again today. Bloody rain ☔️ can’t wait to come back to AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺. Grand kid and family live in AUSTRALIA great place. Come on HONDA get involved sponsor these fu-king nutters .
The Bogan sort of does things his own special way. I agree with you , swap out the chain, it would make for a less stressful ride. I try to keep up with all of maintenance, but I've had to nurse a tire a few too many miles.
mate my missus, who does not know one end of a motorbike from the other has started watching your vlog along side me, just told me i am not allowed to watch your run into Perth with out her. So Danny you are reaching out and touching people, a big pat on the back to you and you better give one to Parry, what a mate to have... well done guys
Well done on the 1st half boys and Daniel, you have a treasure of a friend in David and I know you are an egotistical alpha male type guy however, when you get home take a few moments to reflect on how you view and treat him as you never know what can push someone over that fine line. Good on ya both and good luck on your second leg of this journey home.🤟
Well done guys, but I can’t understand why MDB didn’t have a week off in Perth to recuperate! I really thought the media might have done an interview as well.
Congrats Danny and David for making it to Perth. A very emotional Vlog gents 💪👍 Come on Honda Australia, give this man some recognition and donate some of your profits to his great cause. It’s tax deductible so everyone wins.
Been watching all the Monkey bike vids from here in chilly England. Some of the best RUclips entertainment I think I've watched. To edit all this while still riding is something special. You should be rightly proud of what you've achieved, the issues you've highlighted and the money raised.
Congratulations Daniel. Very inspirational. You and Parry have enormous amounts of human spirit that we watch in awe from our lounge rooms. If you change the chain, also replace both sprockets as the 3 items go hand-in-hand. Good luck on the return to Geelong with the wind and afternoon sun behind you.
Well done both great effort and a great cause, I don’t know if your aware of the struggle over hear in the UK but we the veterans lose a guy virtually on a daily basis, we are fighting the persecution of veterans who served in Northern Ireland 45 years ago one of witch took his life yesterday, we ride as one bikers they are the best, safe ride back respect to young and Parry.
Another great vlog for the series boys. What a hoot! Dave Parry - what a special mate and obviously a true friend. I'm sure you two blokes don't even realise the impact you have had on the "Boganites" (thanks Lianne B for the term) across the world. I would suggest to you that you've not only raised some money, but you've also saved some lives, which you may never find out about! Pretty solemn watching this one today as community in rural NSW prepares to farewell another farmer who did the deed due to the pressures of life. Epic effort to reach Perth lads in what was obviously brutal conditions. Every episode is just a pleasure to watch! Great work, and let's keep spreading the word about the Daniel Hayes - The Million Dollar Bogan and mate Dave Parry and why they have undertaken this epic journey. Two dinky-di champion Aussies - unsung heros in my book!
I love your channel because you aren’t fake! While im watching you, I’m going trough all kind of emotions, and feelings. You are an inspiration for so many people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Thanks David. We will miss your fine humor. Thanks Daniel for doing the return drive! Honda, I’m a Harley driver... but if I ever need a small city bike I will consider a Monkey... only because of this vlog... Grtz from Belgium, Europe.

Not all heros wear capes Danny! You're a fucken national treasure mate. I don't know why the press hasn't picked up your story but I'm sending links to your channel to everyone!
Beautiful seeing the bikers accompany you in, and the turn out. People identify with you and what you’re doing. I don’t know if anyone else releases the kind of emotion you do around this cause. You (and Parry) are inspiring. I doubt anyone has risen harder than you. Godspeed.
such a great video ! Since i've been following along, I can almost feel how you guys felt when you arrived in Perth. Shows how important of a cause it really is...
It’s no surprise you had a great welcome in Perth, you’re a fantastic ambassador raising awareness and money for a deserving Charity....more power to you and the ‘sidekick’.....top blokes!! ❤️
I know it sucks real bad driving back but the torture of the ride will disappear and you will have the satisfaction knowing you fulfilled your promise.Good man.
Parry will turn up on the way back. It will be made to look like he changed his mind and join Dan for the return trip. Scripted but very, very entertaining. Well done boys !
Ok I'll admit I cried but I'm happy for you Daniel. You're a good man. I'm glad to have found you because you inspire people, myself included and genuine people are as rare as miracles. I'm changing my life and aspiring to be a better man because of you. Thank You Daniel...
Congratulations Danny and well done. You are a man of integrity and grit. These are qualities that even millionaires cannot buy. It would be nice if Honda would come to the party. Please stay safe and keep living the dream. Stand tall.
YOU HAVE MADE IT! 😁 Really awesome to realize that. Sincerely Bravo to you and David to fully Involve yourselves in this noble cause. Ride safe mate. Cheers from France.
Please Honda donate and interview this man after the event. Good PR and a good cause.
Let’s see Honda put their hand in their pockets for this important cause!! #coughuphonda
Well I emailed asked McDonalds Oz to donate and just got a negative response!!
Let's see if Honda Oz can out do MaccyD😊
Honda are doing it tuff The CEO only got 4.5 million this year ……….
I've made the decision to buy a monkey based on this ride!
The world is better with you in it!
More Entertaining at least !
Simply better, even without all the videos Daniel. You care, and it shows through even though in videos your funning around.
Yeah, God made him!
This channel is great, nothing on RUclips is done with this style of editing....great job Danny.
