  • It's not often the whole crew can get together, but join us today in this MMA Hall of Fame Round Table discussion with Tito Ortiz, Rampage Jackson, and Frank Mir as they chat with Harrison Rogers about all things MMA! So listen in to this great conversation with these MMA Legends
They'll go into a history discussion of the sport which includes how the UFC was almost completely banned and how it began to rise after the Fertittas bought it. Tito Ortiz was a big part of the rise of the sport too as he was the UFC's first true "superstar"
Harrison and the guys will also break down Quinton Rampage Jackson's career that began over in Japan and they'll discuss the differences with the sport of MMA over there compared to the United States. Is there a reason fighters don't tend to be as successful coming from PRIDE Fighting to the UFC? Does it have something to do with the steroid testing that happens in the UFC compared to back then in Japan, where there wasn't regulations on that specific topic?
As the UFL begins to take shape, the conversation will also shift towards the rules and scoring systems inside of MMA and how stalling needs to be addressed. We'll also learn more about the UFL's structure of payment to athletes including fighter insurance as the guys will discuss the various times they had to fight with injuries during their careers so they could simply be paid for the work they were putting in.
With the UFL, you'll see a fighter owned league that will completely revolutionize the sport!

Except he spent the entire time trying to interrupt people and most of what he said was wrong, misleading, or somewhat inaccurate. That's not an opinion btw. He couldn't even give basic facts right and you can tell Tito got tired of correcting him after a few minutes.

Frank's comments about PRIDE fighters not being successful in UFC is incorrect. Rampage and Anderson weren't the only UFC titleholders from PRIDE. Nogueira beat Sylvia for the interim HW title (which Mir should know because he beat Nog for that belt), Shogun was Light HW champion (beat Machida), and while he never held a belt, Dan Henderson had a very successful UFC career. Overeem and Hunt too.

I'm not gonna lie, it's cool to see Tito, Page, and Frank together chatting. I honestly always thought these guys hated each other, especially Rampage and Tito.
Edit: From what I can understand, Japan goes HARD on drugs of ANY kind. So hearing that they didn't test for anabolic steroids in PRIDE is honestly kinda wild to me.

Because Pride was operated by the Japanese mafia

Japan is tough on drugs like weed and cocaine which makes ppl lazy or out of control and jeopardizes social stability. Steroids for prize fighters don’t have these effects but actually makes the show itself entertaining which is fine in their culture.
