Hi Stumbled over a Model 41 from 1969 last year and I must say it is a very nice gun. Tried it out with a red dot site and at 25m all 10 bullets were within 15mm. In other words, I can never blaim the gun for missing the target. It's a joy to shoot and extremely easy to disassemble and clean. Will never leave my collection :) Regards Robert from Sweden
Hi, Nice to hear. I am really pleased with the gun so far. As you say, it shoots better than me. Easy to operate, easy to maintain and clean. I love the weight and the angle of the handle. I think this gun will stay as my precision 22lr for ever!
Hey Jones, that's a nice looking firearm. I recently entered the world of target pistols with a Ruger Mk. IV "Target". I purchased an enhanced grip but what you've got here puts mine to shame haha. Wishing you good health and tight groups at the range.
I have the Model 46 and love it too! The 46 was seen as the poor man’s 41, as it was originally made for the US Air Force when they went to S&W asking for a cheaper 41 that could take more of a beating as they wanted to use it as their training pistol. The government never accepted it for a full run, but S&W eventually offered it to civilians and a total of 4000 of them were built, and production was stopped forever in 1968. I believe the 41 was also discontinued in ‘68. Unfortunately the serial numbers were mixed into production between the 41, 46 and several revolvers so it’s hard to tell how early or late yours is. But I heard they go to the 175000 numbers and mine is in the 95000 range
Thank you for watching and commenting. Interesting to hear about the 46, I wasn´t aware of it. Anyway my 41 shoots straight as a razor. Tried shooting with proper support and I shot 49 out of 50 on an international precision target. Isn´t the 41 in production still? Maybe it is a bit updated, but I don´t know. Have seen you are able to order it brand new for around 3000 USD here in Europe. That seems a bit much, but if someone has the money...
Hi. If you need to hit higher you get your rear sight "down ", turning the screw clockwise. This always confuses me to the point I overadjust the sights and shoot again to how point of impact changes.

Thank you! I contemplated the Ruger before finding this one at an auction. Good luck and wish you lots of fun!

Love the 41s , you can store it with a plastic wall anchor in the chamber, the it would be better on the hammer when you drop it.
If my shots are hitting low which way do I turn the screw?
