The amount of useful information in these videos that flood my tiny brain is like a firehose aimed at a teacup in the best way possible. It's not merely good decklists, there's explanations on why things work, the psychological aspects of the game, and so so much more. All delivered in a succinct and entertaining way. As a returning player from two decades ago, these videos have been critical to getting back on the horse so to speak.
Even more impressive when you consider he's playing the damn game WHILE executing everything you described. Most of us can't handle a portion of either.
Agreed. CGB thinks out loud for the video, which is probably the single most valuable part for me. Lots of folks make good decks, many people play good decks for YT, some even give some commentary. CGB is in a *very* small circle who make new decks, play them, don't always cherrypick only the best wins, and shares almost *every* thought in his head while doing it. Massive, massive value.
Shout out to CGB for all the many, many hours of quality, free entertainment. Hope he enjoys a well-deserved holiday after the lengthy algorithm-mandated recording session.
Watching the video (to the end) explains the video. Easy. Also, hearing "be a good mesa falcon" makes me wanna rebel and misbehave. No compliance with the adults! Thanks for the heads-up on Mogwai returning to Magic. His new decks look really, really fresh and spicy.
You mentioned towards the end of the video that only the decks that do well would make it into footage. Could it be interesting to see (perhaps in short format) what the concepts behind the decks that didn't work out were and why they didn't perform as well as you expected? Brews are always fascinating, and personally I think that's something I would also enjoy to watch, even if it's necessarily shorter. Have ideas, be cool.
Nooo i was worried the day would come where you play this. Been using this deck and winning for a while now, wanted to keep it a secret. You are just too good at making decks i suppose lol.
Enjoy the vacation! thanks as always for the awesome content, Ive loved the new types of content that you have been trying out kind of a breath of fresh air
i just saw this a couple days ago. i went from not playing for years and not really playing when i did play. to hitting platinum in a few days using this wasnt able to craft all the cards so i had to substitute some other card draw cards but really fun deck thanks. i always loved mono blue
Me: **looking forward to rotation, new decks and less of old toxic stuff** CGB: "I'm brining back Monoblue but instead of Counters we're going AGRO!" Me: "...You know what at this point it counts. Sign me up."
Lol literally just played against this deck and did exactly that. Held open mana to so my key spells would not get countered and wasn't nearly "aggressive" enough with my memory deluge and Jace. Lesson learned, fun build. Thank you for sharing.
I played against this deck yesterday as UW control. had only 3x wandering emperor in hand but no 2W, and realized at the last opportunity that I had field up to get the basic (won afterwards, but needed to deck them). very cool concept as a deck. great to see it from the other side.
awesome display of Blue without any counters, I do feel for the players playing against you having PTSD from so many counter spells when seeing the Islands, but nothing pops up. nice.
This Deck is really great. I dont have all the rare cards so I am going to make some adjustments there is a plethora of creatures with flying vigilance
At 21:50 did you have lethal by playing second duelist then criming with march on their fliers to get double duelist triggers for enough damage via profts?
This is 100% the most frustrating deck I have ever played. 10 straight games against red burn and boros aggro after not seeing it for a week or so. I can't even get to a 2nd spell a turn before I'm at half life with no way to recover.
Olá CGB. Im doing good with a deck you made some months ago. I made some updates with new cards and its beating some mono red's and convoke's. Im strugling whith those new discard decks. Maybee you want to re-visit the deck, i bet you will hve fun with it. 65% win rate 123w-66L 73% w.r. on play 55% w.r. on draw Deck 1 Farewell 4 Union of the Third Path 3 Sunfall 1 Sudden Setback 4 Three Steps Ahead 4 No More Lies 4 Memory Deluge 4 March of Otherworldly Light 3 Jace, the Perfected Mind 1 Eerie Interference 4 Depopulate 3 Adarkar Wastes 4 Deserted Beach 1 Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire 4 Field of Ruin 4 Island 2 Meticulous Archive 1 Otawara, Soaring City 4 Plains 4 Restless Anchorage
Seems like a terrible thing to craft right now with so many of the key pieces rotating out so soon. I don't think it does nearly as well without swirling mist let alone ledger shredder.
I haaaaaate Haughty Djinn (I dislike "just play the game the way you were going to anyway" payoffs but particularly hate when there's nothing much interesting you can do with payoff), but no counterspell aggro mono blue is a nice twist.
Thx for the videos, it means a lot to know you did all this prep for your vacation 🥹 And I'm going to look for Mogwai, I remember the good Nicol Bolas villain days of his
I think there's an argument to not running Otawara at all, since the old collective wisdom of past mono-blue Haughty Djinn Tempo players used to tell that a basic Island is better than that since Otawara doesn't count as an island for Flow of Knowledge. So maybe you should have played all basic Islands?

Careful, a good chunk of it is just for content and not actually good advice

Wow, it’s so cool that THAT person was the cool kid for today! What fun
Enjoy your vacation, CGB 😎 would love to see a return to this new Mono Blue aggro deck (though, it will probably be swarming the ladder soon enough)
Glad to hear the Mogwai shoutout, surprised to learn that he was an inspiration for you though.
Enjoy your European vacation, thanks for pre-recording a bunch of videos!

Have seen this mono blue variant quite some times, so hardly a secret tbh.

I really like this in Izzet because demand answers lets you sacrifice the Spyglass Siren’s map for two cards. Plus you get slickshot
This. Izzet Phoenix with duelist, proft and ledger in explorer is a beast. Like it needed it.

MonoBlue Standard?
Time to get wet! Just in time for the heat-dome!
Mono Blue smashing Mono Red is something I could watch every day.
This deck makes me hope for mono red lifegain someday. Fly on fellow falcons!
Dude, shouting out other creators is super cool of you. It's especially great to see LVD there.
I really loved the outro. So real for this cgb
9:36 The wincon is playing fading hopes until monored ragequits

Haughty djinn my fave target for the end and deadly cover up
mogwai is coming back????? Whoa!!!! him and merchant wee what got me into mtga
That Ultimate Guard add was the best.
Thanks for making a Standard video. Been missing standard.
Lol literally just played against this deck and did exactly that. Held open mana to so my key spells would not get countered and wasn't nearly "aggressive" enough with my memory deluge and Jace. Lesson learned, fun build. Thank you for sharing.
Sometimes you have to make them use their counters
Awesome brew, dude! Very cool. Duelist and always wanted to do more testing with PEM
That clinic pre-healed my next 4 generations.
I love the first game. It’s two Cowboys (avatars ) duelling off. Red versus Blue. “ I’m still at 20 mono red, you should concede”
I have an insatiable appetite for daily standard videos
Respect for looking after yourself. Enjoy your holiday.
I was going to watch the LVD Breya brawl video, then I saw monoU aggro and I had to click!
Have a nice vacation CGB! You got me to play Magic. Cheers
CGB! You forgot to add Filipa to your recommended MtG content creators! She's a solid MtG player, and she has a cool accent as well.
Have a fab holiday time sir. Looking forward to seeing you in Amsterdam.
Good on you for sharing other youtubers!!
Cool deck, think the deck could be good! Have fun on you summer break.
Curious about forcing in MH3 Tamiyo over Spyglass Siren and what that'd change overall with the deck, or if that'd just be a sidegrade
Just deleted a deck similar to this.
Thanks for the inspiration. I'll re-synth it & try again.
Good to see this played!

was expecting cgb playing this deck since first fought against it
This deck looks super fun to play. I’ve been holding out on my Golgari until rotation, but it’s getting boring. I think I’ll take this one for a spin.
This Deck is really great. I dont have all the rare cards so I am going to make some adjustments there is a plethora of creatures with flying vigilance
I Appreciate you for making content even when your traveling. ❤️

Oh i watched ten more seconds and you said exactly this. Oops.
Blue really bends the rules, I love that.
Lunch sized video. Lovely

CGB why do you look so evil when you play? I love it and want more more more!
Woohoo back to standard. :D
I like this usually an aggro player mono red big stompy but this looks cool and fun
Nice to have standard back!
where the F*** is my ten hour video!!!! lol love the content cgb thanks
Definitely could see b03 with putting counter spells and more interaction in the sideboard
cgb every time he sees red mana - 😆

I'm sold. Take all my hard-earned wildcards.
The laugh in the intro haha
Mesa Falcons?? Did you go to MCC in Mesa?
15:25 funny engough there is already a 12/12 one drop in magic
Seems like a terrible thing to craft right now with so many of the key pieces rotating out so soon. I don't think it does nearly as well without swirling mist let alone ledger shredder.
Is it just me, but is CGB looking ripped? You been hitting the gym brother?
People have been playing that damn deck the whole time at least once a day
No mention of Sonio?
another great magic creator is Sloth, creative control decks for standards
Finally gameplay video ❤
His second opponent may be named 'Only one' but he clearly wasn't THE ONE in Bo1!
Love to see little mono red obliteration

You played the “only one” in best of one in your second vid. Mirror match.
Its how they say, is not the size of the video that matters
why is delver of secrets not in the deck?

Free to play player, I'm trading the Jace's for Three steps Ahead (because I have some) and jamming this list 😅💙
I kind of like he Elusive Otter in this type of deck.
But CGB, you missed lethal! I'm engaging!
A 12/12 1 mana creature...What is this? Death's Shadow?
Imagine building this to only match vs monoblack
Sheoldred The Appocalypse liked this video.
The salt from the red players was just too satisfying.
I somehow think I need to play some mono blue again. But march will be gone soon :(
Omg versing this deck in mythic was a surprise at first .. all I know is kill the blue guy who buffs up quickly
love the deck
Mono color decks always get a like from me.
You played against the only one in best of 1 😅 (the Liliana player)
No Treasure Cruise?
*This post was made by the Izzet Phoenix gang*
This deck needs one counterspell, so you can hit your opponent as soon as they think you don't run them
Yeah, holidays in Europe... Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I love when you play blue
