Excellent interview. As someone who started school in late 70s this retospective interview was like looking back my growing years. What a journey this legendary actor Saritha had.
Like she said - all were tough roles. Much beyond her age.
My first memory of Saritha was mouna geethangal. It used to come as a thodarkathai in kumutham with still photos of her and Bagyaraj. The Suguna character we imagined while reading, she brought to life in screen and was an amazing hit.
Good that Mr.Bharadwaj touched on single shot of Achamillai achamillai..anothet favorite performance. What a range of emotions she would have expressed..a peerless performance.
Thaneer thaneer, agni satchi, nool veli, vandi chakram, netrikan, sujatha, oomai viligal are some of my favorites ( of Saritha's performances).
Arguably Keel vaanam sivakkum is one of her finest performances where at times she would have out performed the legendary Sivaji Ganesan.
Tamil cinema was undergoing a rapid transformation in late 70s and 80s - Ilayaraja, rural movies, strong social themes, many directors ( inspired by success of Bharathiraja, Mahendran) emerged from diverse bwckgrounds, Kamal and Rajini trandforming into super stars, many new heroines ( breaking the traditional definitions) emerged...
Thats why we call that period as evergreen 80s.
Saritha is a shining star in the firmament of those 80's.

Saritha is one my most favorite actors. She is such a nice humble human being and it is so easy to predict that she is introverted. I wish we see more of her in the films - such a committed composed actor who doesn't take herself so seriously for her many many accomplishments.
Saritha ma'am is one of the finest actors our country has produced. No wonder her experience in acting 23 movies of KB sir made her a holistic actor. She needs to act more.
Saritha is one example of directors artist. How many amazing performances she has given in all south indian languages. She has done amazing job in dubbing field also for other actresses as well. I was watching Amman a couple days ago and the pain she showed when Soundarya was getting hit by villain that too in Tamil and telugu, her intensity was same and didn't reduce a bit when she dubbed in tamil after telugu. Baradwaj didn’t seem to understand Saritha's pain and stressful experience doing Vedham Pudithu, Bharatiraja being utterly unprofessional, signing her up for the role of a mother of a 15 year girl, and changing it completely when she came on the set, makibg her play her contemporary Amala's mother! Great to know that Saritha returned the paycheck when the movie released.
Correct. I too felt that it was unfair of the Director and team to have casted Saritha like that. Good on her.

Thanks to BR and team. For not having thumbnails like “Siva is like Rajini” and selling the video (Seriously tired of seeing such videos). Instead respecting the artist and their experience.
She is just super-confident, and seems to have had an exceptional work ethic.
She knows she is good, and never tries to trump up her achievements, nor does she focus on the hardships she surely must have faced.
There is zero drama... She is so non-chalant while describing events, is unassuming and full of humility.
Just a great combination... She is a role model for any working professional, no matter what your career is.

@@rajesh5279 he can make much better interviews with his free flowing casual chat.. this guy tries too hard and half the time he stutters stammers to put his point across.. just because he does his reviews in English doesn't make him automatically good.. if you are looking for entertaining English review look out for not a tollg review by hriday ranjan and rajeev masand reviews were really entertaining and not bland boring like what this guy does.. i dont know how he got the image of an intellectual..im not saying he is bad just saying there are engaging reviewers out there

Rangans way of interview is different, his view point is different, he is one of the best interviewers. Mr Chitra knows actors personally. he also worked in press, part of movie making industry, he was PA to actors also. he knows a lot of inside scoop. Rangan is more into trying to capture a persons mind about acting in a story.

In Guna movie if she has not given the voice to the heroine abirami character the movie would not have had the same impact.. not many would appreciate even kamal should appreciate this.. he was the one who would have hired her for the voice for sure.. just saying not many would know that sarita has given the voice for the heroine..
She is a genius . Lots of movies and fantastic performances. She is natural ina flow . Lot of movies so she doesn't remember.natural. today's generation should watch saritha movies . She was a class in her period. It will be a reference for many in acting .

My most favourite actress. I was in high school when I saw her Manocharitra. Super duper amazing actress. I loved her, lived with her movies, never missed any movie, wore sarees like her. I wore a 3 stones mukkukutthi like her. Omg! Soooo many memories of teens watching her movies in Kannada and Thamizh. Love you loads and loads 😘 Sarita. I would love to look like you and I do. It’s unfortunate that you don’t provide English subtitles for these interviews because there are a lot of people that are very interested and invested in artists from across the Indian film industries but don’t speak the languages.
