Hello! My 'Fingerstyle for the World' guitar course is FINALLY out! I've poured all my knowledge and experience into this course to take your playing to the next level. Check it out at academy.neilchanmusic.com/p/fingerstyle-for-the-world-level-1!
I play classical guitar for 9 years and I'm 13. Now I'm learning Flamenco guitar but due to the pandemic I can't go the classes and now that I've found your channel, I'm learning from you THANK YOU!
2:52 the notes you are tapping sounded utterly familiar until I discovered it's almost as same as the pattern that I discovered myself. You are tapping out Do-So-Do and I am tapping Do-Mi-So-Do so that's a difference of just one note.
What would be approx. time to develop the right hand for at least one minute of doing middle speed? My fingers are dying after 10 seconds using the middle speed in your vid :D Going to do that at work or when I don't have access to my guitar, hopefully it would make sense. Btw, which guitar do you have? ^^
@@neilchanmusic bro I can say you bro ? You really help me a lot I know all the stuff but I always confused I am right or not but you like a god for me 🧙♂️ thank you so much pls more videos you really help guitarist to be a good guitarist in 🌍 🙏 I am from India love you ❤️❤️❤️ Everyone take too much money to teach guitar and then also not give proper info You are slap for them thank you
@@neilchanmusic can you make a video on suppose I am playing a melody on g major aur any major key in bar position so if someone say to me play it on a major so I just play same thing on a major bar position on same shape because shape is same but problem is if I want to play on d major or c major open or bar position but in different shapes I am stuck pls help 🙏🙏🙏 any tricks ?
You should practice doing that without the guitar. I do that all the time when I'm commuting, just get the motion of your fingers ingrained into you before you even try it on the guitar strings.
@@neilchanmusic sound advice. Reminds me of how I've seen people practice gloving. That the hand dancing with lights on it. I really just don't feel comfortable doing it in this way. Respectfully I will have to say you are correct and no one ever has gotten better doing what makes them comfortable. Thank you.
Hey man great video series. I've been trying to use the flamenco technique on my steel string acoustic for while now but my finger nails get hurt (esp. during rasgueado, I use the middle down, thumb down, thumb up triplet technique). What do I do? :((
That's normal, rasgueados aren't intended for steel strings and will shred nails in no time. You can work on the technique on nylon strings then transfer to steel strings. Another alternative which I do is apply some UV hard gel on your nails. It takes some patience and trial and error to get right, and you have to deal with strange looks from people who observe your done-up nails on just one hand :D
@@neilchanmusic would lighter gauge strings help? Moving from phosphor bronze to silk and steel as well, probably. Also how long does the hard gel thingy last? Thanks for the help big time!
I'm not sure if lighter strings will make much difference to be honest. As for the hard gel, if you're really good at applying and maintaining them they last as long as your nail takes to grow out. But normally they start to fall off after between 1-3 weeks. It really varies quite a bit from my experience, but the more you do it the better you get at applying it well.
You are right, I have no idea XD But I'm sure I did reply you! Anyway hope you got to see my response, in essence, you can use these techniques on any guitar. But to play actual flamenco music, use a flamenco guitar :)
@@neilchanmusic Thank you! This one comment appears! under the comment section! The advice is helpful! I've been practicing on electrics with picks so I think it works better if I focus on what I'm doing then turn to another style after I'm more of an expert!
You're very welcome! Yes I agree with you, it's good to focus your energies on one style. At the same time, don't let it stop you from exploring and experimenting! You can even try creating some flamenco flavours using a pick, who knows ;)
Practice and practice, and find a good teacher :D You can also follow along all my online lessons for tips! It's still good to get an in-person teacher though.
Haha I know! It's quite fun to apply flamenco rhythms to different harmonic progressions. Of course, we need to be discerning if it sounds palatable or just cheesey.

I do i m a i instead of amii. Aside from just versatility, is there a benefit amii has that imai doesn't?
The last stroke being an 'i' has more of an accent, and it's how flamenco guitarists usually play it.
Remember me today is your channel is on 7k sub you will hit 1m soon
I'm excited! Really happy to reach 7k and eager to grow even more. Thanks for your support :)

What count do my be fingers return to piston one on. Or is it supposed to be slowly returned over the course of the rest of the motions
@@lukemarcello1229 You return them all together with the index finger, so count 4

Do I need a flamenco guitar to better enjoy this technique, or an acoustic is fine if I just want to use flamenco style to spice up my song?

Its kinda annoying When i play it in my acoustic🥲am i doing something wrong?
It's designed for nylon strings, but you can make it work on steel strings. You need to control your attack so it doesn't sound too metallic.
Why does this (the same chords) sound loud and unpleasant when I play that way 🤔
it is really weird to use that poppy chord progression for flamenco/Rumba, ITs making me cringe but its kinda funny and if it works :D...
Haha I know! It's quite fun to apply flamenco rhythms to different harmonic progressions. Of course, we need to be discerning if it sounds palatable or just cheesey.
The mid sentence sing-song makes me cringe uncontrollably, but the technique tips and demo were helpful.
Well I'm glad I made your day interesting and helped you on guitar at the same time :)
your words cover your finger.we can`t see your fingers movement.
Will make sure you can in new videos!
dying out of cringe
