    Also if I could add from a rookie. If you Have to replace your stater and your wiring looks good cut the wires close to your old stator and connect the new stator with Bullitt inline connectors (If they're same color code). Sure saved me lots of migraines & Drinks! Good Luck & Stay Safe!

    Thanks for sharing how to replace the stator. However, your title says assessing stator rough running. I believe your title should be more about replacing the stator since I didn't really see much of anything about determining the actual problem with the rough running condition.

    • @FKCamVlogs

      Ronnie that is a great question. I am glad you asked. When I did this video I wasn't much versed with you tube; however after your comment I added two videos that show up in the end that reflect the actual problem and engine running rough.

    Thanks for posting the vid! I have a 1998 Force (mercury) 120 and it's running fine until I get around 3/4 throttle. A local marine tech said it could be the stator, trigger, or timing. I tried adjusting timing, while under load in a 50 gal tub, still same issue. I installed CCMS reeds also, since they originals were out of spec. Still same issue, so I am going to try the trigger. How's she holding up after you did these changes? Did you take any ohm readings on the old vs new unit?

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  3 года назад +1

      Since the trigger was not much expensive I decided to change it anyhow and it worked. A mechanic week before that charged me $800 for stator, which I believe I didn't needed

    Hi, Great video! I am having problems with the charging system of the battery, while the outboard is running (60hp 2stroke 2016), there is no increment in the voltage of the battery..
    It also is going rough while idle in neutro. But when put it in forward and open some gas vibration and shakes stop.
    do you think stator may be the problem of the no charging battery?. What else can i check?
    Thank u very much!

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  2 года назад

      Did you checked with battery tester? if yes, then it may be the stator, you may find a reasonable price for stator on amazon. Change the trigger also its a cheap replacement.

I believe all of the components are attached correctly for flywheel remover but no success.

    Hi. I have a 1984 Mercury 60hp. After cleaning the carbs it rub great but it wasn’t charging the battery. I checked the stator and rectifier with a meter as instructed my the factory service manual. Both failed but the engine ran great. I bought a new stator and rectifier. The motor run like it did before I installed the new parts but it is still not charging the battery. I’ve check voltage output at the rectifier stud with no wire connected and it is not charging. Then out of no where the motor started running bad not wanting to idle smooth and dying when put into gear. It’s got me thinking is the new stator bad? I’m going to put the old stator back on to see if the motor run good again. Was your motor running bad and the stator fixed the issue? Thanks for reading my long post.

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  5 лет назад +1

      Stator was installed by a certified Mercury Mechanic but my issue was resolved when I installed the trigger my self. Here is the link for my video and in the description I have another link from someone else that helped me figure rough running motor issue. View the video and see if your issue is similiar. If possible inform how it went with old stator. Capt. long or short post whatever helps you works for me.

    Help?. 96 Mariner Magnum 200 EFI. Ran boat a few times fishing.. Would always take a few seconds or so to pick up speed and plane out. Helped if my brother sat up front and if I trim up and down bit as it's going. Anyway.. Would eventually go and run pretty smooth top end. Couple days later.. I take it out.. Starts and idles normal.. Plenty power.. But when I put in gear and start to go.. It won't pick up speed. About 6mph max.. Rpms low.. Like bogged down or lack of power?

    • @FKCamVlogs

      I take your comment positive as it will help me to improve my show and tell skills. I did this video upon requeat from many ppl on how to access stator. It may seem waste of time for peoole with some skill set but many don't know how to pull flywheel assembly off the stator. I am with you on OEM parts but oem trigger was on back order and this brand was recommended by certified mercury mechanic as a replacement. Thank you and please comment when you see an issue or have suggestions on future videos. Everything helps !!

      Sorry to hear that, just know I could have easily edited that part but I kept it, as we all learn from mistakes. The amazon tool works different on different engines some require bushing and some don't. Happy boating !!
