Stacy it's wonderful how these old homes survive, wonky floors and all. Today we have been trying to level a bookcase in our slightly wonky 250 year old Colonial in New Hampshire. The Priest Holes are incredible to see after all this time and remind me of pretty grim times in English history and the courage displayed by so many for the Faith. A good book about those times is Robert Hugh Benson's "By What Authority" Thank you for the wonderful and peaceful walk through and gorgeous photography!
It truly is 🙏 The stories these homes could tell. I love all the character the wonky floorboards bring. There are a good deal of houses here that have the priest holes on display, some even let you go inside so you can experience for yourself what it would have been like! Thank you for the book recommendation, I shall check it out 🙏
Thoroughly enjoyed this, from a Snowy Toronto Sunday here in Canada!. My Goodness to see those Snowdrops, Crocus & Daffodils!!!! Both Houses are Charming! Thanks so much for Posting
Thank you! ❤️🙏 Ooh yes, many spring blooms starting to make an appearance now and it’s making me SO happy to see!! Happy Monday, have a great week ahead
Thanks Stacy for another great video, I live in the West Midlands so I've been to these two houses several times. We are so lucky in this country with such amazing historic properties and superb countryside. Your videos help us to appreciate it! Take care.
Ahh I’m glad you’ve experienced these two locations for yourself 🥰🙏 they’re so lovely. We are most definitely spoilt for locations and historic properties here in the uk. Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend!
Such a deep feeling of history! Amazing to see where Charles II hid in order to evade his enemies, along with the secret Catholic (?) chapel. Yes, those floors are showing their age. And we thought the floors in our 92 year-old house were wonky. Your videos are always so relaxing. Sometimes you share more history, other times you let the beautiful views, gorgeous flowers, and historic homes speak for themselves. Thank you for fitting in filming these gems with your busy schedule.
Isn’t it?! It’s amazing that places like this still exist. Yes, that was a secret Catholic chapel in the loft/attic. Thank you for your lovely comment 🥰🙏 I had planned to share more history with this episode as a voiceover while showing the various rooms but I’ve had a stinker of a cold all week so aren’t sounding too great 😅 so it had to be left as a more visual episode this week and just enjoy the views ☺️ Hope you had a great start to the week.
Your videos are like going back in time. Love them!!! And when there are so many period portraits on the walls of long dead people, that combined with the faintly melancholy music in the background, it’s just so… thought provoking. Thank you.
What a treat, Thank-you so much for showing us these stunning houses ,love the ancient woodwork and wonky floorboards and even though it's still early, the gardens looked gorgeous in the sunshine, that very rare thing we all long for after months of gloom. Love the places you take us to.❤
Great video ! Houses like these are always wonderful to look at . We only get a glimpse of the high points of their history .There is always so many more stories and secrets that we may never know.
What a reach in history expedition. Stunning, I really find very interesting the lives of those escaping from death, or prison…priests ….kings…. Houses full of memories and secret rooms… thank you so much for yet again high quality interesting vlog.
Simply beautiful houses !! And grounds . Wish it was as green here in my part of NY State !!! It's a little chilly here 🥶🥶🥶 . Thank you for sharing these amazing homes !! Have a wonderful week and stay safe !! 🇺🇸 / 🇬🇧
They’re really lovely locations, full of history 😍 Oh goodness! I can only imagine how cold it is there in NY in February 😅 last time we were there in Feb it was snowy! Temperatures down to -15C and parts of the Hudson frozen over!! It was magical but I’ve never been so cold in my life lol 😂
Two more beautiful and interesting sites, thank you for taking us along, I found it very relaxing just to sit back and watch these beautiful places, hope you feel better soon!
