God I loved that car when I had one. I drove it until it wouldn't drive anymore and it was glorious.
I had two of them and boy I wish I never sold either one of them
We just bought this similar vehicle yesterday, I'm in love with it!! But the few things that don't work is the speedometer, back driver's passenger door doesn't open all the way.. kinda proud of my oldie 😂🖤, all she needs is a good paint job. The owner had a new engine put in, with a newer stereo.. we bought it for 600 which is not bad..
Cool compact car, always thought so. Nice to see there is a survivor out there. I live on the East Coast and haven’t seen one of these in years.
Ahhhhh. I had a 96 Escort, same color! Beautiful car. Mine was automatic though. I miss her so much! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
May not seem like much compared to today's standards, but I absolutely LOVED this vehicle! Had one in white and I gotta tell ya...I got into plenty of trouble in it 😂. She was my first car and I miss her 😭
Same! 😂😀👍🏻
I have a 1993 Escort GT with the 1.8 Mazda 4 cyl. My clutch lasted 200K miles through several owners
First car I rode in when I was a baby
Same, my dad had this car until I was like 4 years old lol
Had the same car and gave it away while it still was working to a friend with over 300,000 plus miles. My favorite thing about the car was watching people get in and then choked because they weren't used to the auto seat belts.
Wonderful little cars.
I just bought this same car in mint condition! Fast forward to 2022, love this thing
I think these cars have aged well
MrDreamcastx Yes!
I drive a 1993 Ford escort LX hatchback four-door very reliable cars been in the family since1993 I love my little Ford escort
My first car was a 1993 Ford Escort LX it looked just like that but was a 4-door
My first car was a 1993 ford escort LX four-door twoBut mine is in green and I still have the car To this day
Nice car! My aunt had one of these (the Mercury Tracer sedan) almost the exact same down to the color. But she killed it in 2003 (hers was a '94). Glad to see one in such great shape at 18 years old!
Same exact car! Great review!
My dad had a 94 escort wagon with the same external and same interior color from 95 to 2001 he owned it. It was the family car. Did pretty well.
I just text drove a purple 96 LX with 108K miles, and I must say I absolutely loved it! That $3400 out the door is a little above my price range so RIP 😭
I bought that car
Graduated from high school in 1997, this used to be my dream car in turquoise 😭
I had the wagon version in that color which was the first car I drove back in the day. I didn't like that color at first, but now I think it's the best color for these cars looking back at it.
My '91 LX coupe was nearly the same inside and out except mine was red. Mine also didn't have a tach or alloy wheels. Other than that, the interior and dash were nearly identical, same gearshift, same steering wheel, etc. And yes, the gas mileage was great. I usually averaged mid 30s.
No tach in 93 either i think they started in 95
@@ctt544 quite right! For 1995 and 1996 they redesigned the dashboard to add the air bag for passenger, as well as the six digit odometer which until '94 models could only count till 99,999...
The other major difference for '95/'96 was the seats made with better material which lasts like new this day, no tearing or ripping...
Fantastic car. But only the north American models
I had a 91 as a first car. What a lucky guy. Even has the manual so you dont have to worry about the trans
I bought a white 1996 ford escort in summer 2014 from my dad's friend's neighbor. It looked just like this ..but it was white ..and sadly....it was all rust. The bottom, everything, all of it was 100% rust. All of it. It was my first car. I was so disappointed. The engine and motor and that aspect of the car had no mechanical problems. I probably still would have had it, but when I went to get it's inspection, and they put it on the lift, because the whole frame was so rotted, the car bent.....It certainly wasnt able to pass inspection, and because of that, i couldn't have it. It was sold for scrap. The interior was covered in trash and filth, i spent so much tine cleaning it. I wanted to see that car last and keep putting time into it. It was my baby. One day, because of how rotted the bottom was, the heat shield started rattling. My friend took it off, he said the bolts just rusted away and it was making the loudest rattling sound.
This was a tragedy. I always wanted a ford because my family always had American cars. After this, i dont think i should buy an American car again
onliner10000 You likely live in a climate where rust is a big problem. American car or not anything will rust. Especially if it was never undercoated or rust protected. Those older 80's and early 90's toyotas and mitsubishis were notorious for rust as they were using low quality japanese steel that was also very thin. Treat it as a learning experience man, next car ya buy make sure to inspect the underbody really well.
Very nice 👍
my First stepfather had one of these his was a silver one 96 Escort in 1998 i Remember very well i was around 9 years old. i own a 2010 lexus is250 but i would love to own one of these in memory of him. when i was a little kid the escort never fail or left us stranded. at the time. the car was only 2 years old i belive it cost Around $12,500 at Ford Dealerships.
looks like mine, i have the 4 door, i bought it a year ago from a transmission shop when my other car was on its last stand. Not a bad lil zipper of a v-hickle, the shop had rebuilt it with a new engine, about the same cost 1k, a few hundred over the year to sure up some the mechanics, and no major probs at all. My only complaint is i want it to have a higher clearance, any pothole or metal plate i can't avoid rattles the car.
very good review
The color is amazing
I had a '95 LX coupe identical to yours down to the color. It was also a manual transmission. It was my first car...loved that thing!
I have the automatic version...doesn't have a rear defrost button for some reason...anyway, I'm trying to locate the hazard flasher relay...would you happen to know where it might be...
I had a 95 escort. It was great!
The heads on the 1.9 drop valve seats if they over heat. my 94 after engine destruction via valve seat is now powered by a turbo charged 2002 focus zetec
I have the same exact car except mine in automatic. I bought mine in 2002 and still driving it in 2014. I have 104,400 miles on it, although I replaced the engine in 2002 that had 52,100 miles on it. So in reality my 1996 Forst Escort LX has under 70,000 miles. It's a fun car to drive around in and still looks GREAT! Good luck with yours.
Still have it seven year down the line?
@@carterd.1400 Yes, I still have the same car, and runs perfectly. 🙂
@@Sierra1947 Awesome! Maybe I look at Escorts, they seem to last a while.
@@carterd.1400 My car is going to outlast me, as I'll be 75 in October. 🤪
so how does it compare to the focus??
My 95 GT looks exactly like that car Body wise except mine has electric windows and the sunroof but man yours is insane good condition
This looks nothing like the Escort we had here in the UK, and first gens were the 1970s, ford stopped making them around 2000/2001 Ford's are a staple here👍🇬🇧
British Escorts are identical to the Argentine Escorts 1.6 L gasoline / diesel engines and standard transmission.
The North American Escorts (US Canada Mex) were mostly automatic and equipped with 1.9 L gasoline engines which were extraordinary.
The American Escorts also had care free for life fuel injection systems same as power steering (never to service)
If you look them up, the early 90s Australian escorts resembled the Americans at least on the outside with the exception of the wheel placed on the right side as it is the rule for British cars.
Cheers
I had one 5 sp. wagon! Couldn't kill it! Though I did lose 1st and ate a valve retainer but had it till 450,000 Kms though replacing engine n Trans. But I shifted it at 5500 every Time!
Nice I've always liked those gen Escort hatchbacks. I have 98 ZX2 coupe and wish it was a hatchback like older style. Otherwise the chassis is very similar under the body and has 2.0 DOHC Zetec VCT. But whatever as long as it's reliable. Mine has taken a beating over the years. I've driven it hard and it gets driven everyday, all year round thru the winter. I also got a really good deal on it so it owes me nothing! It gave me years of trouble free transportation and asked for little.
Really nice car. Sounds like a good buy.
I have the same car. The clutch plate went out at 124,000 miles and there was a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor that made it nearly undrive-able. taking it in to be fixed today. I get 44 mph when it runs right.
our uk escorts look totally different, but did use the same rims, plus we only got a max of 1.6, the 1.9 had a longer stroke.
I had a 96 silver lx. Don't see many still kicking in New England.
Swaggy ride. little cars are fun i'm glad ford hoped on that wagon(no pun intended.)
What is the name of the door of this vehicle?
Sorry for the inconvenience, friend, I have a car of the same model but the fuel pump fails. the detail is that I'm from Mexico and I can't find the new pump Do you think that in your locality I can find it?
These cars were very reliable vehicles especially with a manual transmission the 1.9 was know to last for. A few hundred thousand miles my dad put 344k on his until some stop leak gummed his engine up. I wish i never sold mine i had a 95 lx with 130k in mint shape i should never parted with
Sooo what was the price? And does it even need anything?
Cute Ford Escort LX they have a 1994 Ford Escort for $600.00 here in georgia
That is a really good deal. These are great cars just don't let them overheat though
Hank's Garage I drew my 1993 Ford escort Without the fan for like 15 years just if you Hear or feel the car making weird noises or feels funny pull over put the car in park let the car cool down those cars are so easy to tell if there’s overheat
My grandparents had a white one that was a 4 door sedan and it had so many overheating issues.
mines is green i love the red coat
Mines LOL 😆. Mine
nice my sistr had like an 80s escort that barley had enough hp to make it up hills around were we lived but im sure yours is alot better.
1:12 Old Toyota/Mazda door chime 😂😂😂😂😂
Could you kindly replace the beeping sound in this Ford Escort with a chime from an early 90s Ford Taurus?
What for?
How much did you paid for that thing?
I paid $500 for mine.
You mentioned that you got a good deal on the car but you didn't mention how much you paid for it.
1000
if you get 28 miles per gallon how often would you need to fill up the tank? and how much would that cost
mickey oh I had the same car in green, same engine and a manual tranny. Even with 287K miles on it, I got about 34mpg highway and around 28mpg city. The tank (if I remember correctly) is about a 10 gallon tank with 1-3 gallon for the reserve. On a 552 mile trip, I filled up around the 300-350 mile mark, and still had about a quarter tank left. So it all depends on how much you drive. For me, I didn't fill up that often. It is both the worst and best car Ford has ever made. Best because they are great cars, worst because for return customers, they made the car too good. Customers return, but not very soon. Car can easily last 20-30 years.
Red Gaming Ya I think I got about the same to a tank as you. I commute though so I end up filling up every 3 days or so.
All in all? The focus rode better, was quicker or atleast seemed to be, but this one is more fun to drive with the manual trans. Not as much room as far as by foot goes but I can haul taller shit with the hatchback as opposed to a trunk
Nice! Datsun in the driveway
Murad Karatepe Ya it was a fun car, next to impossible to find interior trim parts though the interior was shot in that car sadly.
Ya that's a pretty rare car do you still have it?
Nah I ended up selling it to an enthusiast from Los Angeles, drove all the way from Orange County to pick it up. Its in much better hands now. He had all the parts to fully restore it.
Cool
i have the exact same make and model car only difference is mine is lightly modifide for some extra power please becarfull the 1.9 engine i known to drop a valve seat which can next to kill an engine and would need to have a new head and pistons otherwise one of my fav cars ive owned
Did you sell your 2001 Suzuki Swift?
That wasn’t my car
Front wheel drive?
These were all front wheel drive
Currently driving one right now but in white..lol
my grandmother has a 96 Ford escort lx
It’s me!
Have you had any problems with his car do you still own it?
Not any more
@@hanksgarage_ Did you sell it or did it reach the end? If the latter, did it make it to 200k?
I have one just like that except it's a murcry tracer.
Hey I just got a 95 escort lx. The air flow to different zones when you change modes from defrost, panel, floor, etc.
Would you have any advice or insight regarding that?
Thank you
Спасибо за обзор
I have the same car but green and it’s automatic and 4 doors.
I'm looking for one 👀..so if u still have it is it for sale??? Contact me if so my friend
Im a little dissapointed you didnt get a saturn olds or subaru. But thats one nice car it loojs as good as my buddys 95 wagon and it was 1800 i believe from a used car lot and it has 205 k miles on it now and its a slow poopy auto. He gets about 29 combined
i had one same color and year 4 door i ended up loosing my driver side wheel as i was driving i almost crashed in the river. i had a lot of fun with it but it was a huge POS and slow as hell!!
i just got a 99 se with 50k miles on it
my old 1995 was great motor a/c gas save 5 speed 1.9 mazda
the 1.9 was the Ford CVH engine, the GT packed the Mazda 'bp' 1.8 twincam.
my first car was like that but mine was a 1993 and a 4-door
cory littrell this is my first car
Trivia fact: The 1996 Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer were the last vehicles with the so-called "mouse belts."
What did they call that?
The Escorts had automatic power seat belts till they were wrongly redesigned in '97
My Escort SW has them and wouldn't trade it for a new Mercedes
Best car ever made: Escort 1995-1996
1400, and just a passenger side cv axle.
Nowadays a manual transmission, is its own anti theft device.
You could easily mod this car
MALVINAS ARGENTINAS!!
Not sure what that has to do with this video.
Damian Salguero. Quiere decir q hay Argentin@s q se muden d x vida a Las islas??
Plan PRS2018 :
Soledad para GB
Gran Malvina para Argentina
Estrecho San Carlos linea internacional
Rust has claimed many
Regret selling this to my bro
it is not a 1996, on a 1996 model you could not get electric seatbelts.
Yes it was. You going to argue with what the pink slip said? You don’t think someone could add other things into it after the initial purchase?
CD player
You can go to any wrecking yard buy the parts and install them yourself. I’ve done this myself on other vehicles I’ve owned. C’mon kid you should know this.
Eli O the production of escorts with automatic power seat belts included the best models 1995 and 1996. It ended in '97 when the last generation ruined everything
You live in a region of good people, there is 😅 hope for the USA❤❤❤
If you are a Jesus Freak, please pray I can get a econobox for $600, especially a Plymouth Neon🤠💫😺🧑🚀
The 97-01 last generation escorts were complete garbage.
They really messed up when the production of 1995 / 1996 escorts changed to make room for the '97 / '03 gen
I have the same car. The clutch plate went out at 124,000 miles and there was a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor that made it nearly undrive-able. taking it in to be fixed today. I got 44 mph when it runs right.
