WICKED, die zuvor nie erzählte Geschichte der Hexen von Oz, präsentiert Emmy-, Grammy- und Tony-Preisträgerin Cynthia Erivo (Harriet - Der Weg in die Freiheit, Die Farbe Lila am Broadway) als Elphaba, eine junge Frau, die wegen ihrer ungewöhnlichen grünen Haut missverstanden wird und die ihre wahre Kraft erst noch entdecken muss. Die mehrfach mit Platin ausgezeichnete Grammy-Preisträgerin und globaler Superstar Ariana Grande spielt Glinda, eine beliebte junge Frau, die, geprägt von Privilegien und Ehrgeiz, ihr wahres Herz erst noch entdecken muss.
Die beiden lernen sich als Studentinnen an der Shiz-Universität im fantastischen Land Oz kennen und schließen eine unwahrscheinliche, aber tiefe Freundschaft. Nach einer Begegnung mit dem Zauberer von Oz gerät ihre Freundschaft an einen Scheideweg, und von nun an folgen ihre beiden Leben sehr unterschiedlichen Pfaden. Glindas unbedingter Wunsch nach Beliebtheit führt dazu, dass sie von der Macht verführt wird. Elphabas Entschlossenheit hingegen, sich selbst und den Menschen in ihrer Umgebung treu zu bleiben, wird unerwartete und schockierende Folgen für ihre Zukunft haben. Bei ihren außergewöhnlichen Abenteuern in Oz werden sie schließlich ihre Bestimmung als Glinda, die Gute und Elphaba als die böse Hexe des Westens erfüllen.
Weitere tragende Rollen haben Oscar®-Preisträgerin Michelle Yeoh als majestätische Rektorin der Shiz-Universität, Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) als Fiyero, ein schelmischer und sorgloser Prinz, der Tony-Nominierte Ethan Slater (Spongebob Squarepants am Broadway, Fosse/Verdon) als Boq, ein altruistischer Munchkin-Student, Marissa Bode in ihrem Spielfilmdebüt als Nessarose, Elphabas Lieblingsschwester, und Popkultur-Ikone Jeff Goldblum als der legendäre Zauberer von Oz.
Zu den weiteren Figuren gehören Pfannee und ShenShen, zwei hinterhältige Landsleute von Glinda, die von den Emmy-Nominierten Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) und Bronwyn James (Harlots) gespielt werden, sowie eine für den Film neu geschaffene Figur, Miss Coddle, gespielt von der Tony-Nominierten Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman).
Unter der Regie des gefeierten Filmemachers Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights) ist WICKED das erste Kapitel eines zweiteiligen mitreißenden Fantasy-Epos: Wicked - Part 2 soll am 25. Dezember 2025 in die Kinos kommen.
Produziert wird WICKED von Marc Platt (La La Land, Arielle, die Meerjungfrau), dessen Filme, Fernsehshows und Bühnenproduktionen insgesamt 46 Oscar®-Nominierungen, 58 Emmy-Nominierungen und 36 Tony-Nominierungen erhalten haben, zusammen mit dem mehrfachen Tony-Gewinner David Stone (Kimberly Akimbo, Next to Normal). Platt und Stone haben bereits gemeinsam das Blockbuster-Musical Wicked am Broadway produziert. Die ausführenden Produzenten sind David Nicksay, Stephen Schwartz und Jared LeBoff.

Ich war noch nie auf einem Film so gespannt wie hier… nicht mal auf die Avatar-Fortsetzungen!🥲
Habe das gerade per Zufall gesehen, in nem 1stündigen Video das zeigt, welche Filme dieses Jahr raus kommen. Als ich erkannt um welche Geschichte es sich handelt fing ich an zu schreien und danach liefen mir die Tränen übers Gesicht.
Ich war schon in vielen Musicals unter anderem König der Löwen aber KEINES hat mich so mitgenommen und mir so gefallen wie WICKED in Stuttgart. Ich hab immer gehofft, das Musical kommt nochmal zurück. Wow! Die Vorfreude ist mega groß, ich hoffe der Film wird dem Musical auch nur ansatzweise gerecht! ❤❤ und dass sich vielleicht der ein oder andere Soundtrack im Film wiederfindet. Einfach geil!!
Dachte ein neuer "Planet der Affen" wäre mein Highlight aber DAS ist der Wahnsinn!❤

@@lillymoser2978 Wenn ich das Original hören will, dann höre ich die englische Fassung, die deutsche gefällt mir aber meist besser, daher würde ich zumindest mich über deutsche Lieder freuen.
@@galaxyneon6054 Normalerweise könnte ich das nachvollziehen, jedoch sind in diesem Film keine 0815 Sängerinnen dabei. Ariana Grande vor allem ist eine der besten Sängerinnen weltweit, ihr Gesang wäre für einen deutschen Synchronsprecher kaum nach zu singen. Besser würde ich Untertitel finden, dabei könnten auch Personen die Englisch nicht so gut beherrschen auch den Originalgesang in der Deutschfassung genießen.
lasst Sie doch deutsch synchronisieren mit hoffentlich tollen Stimmen. Wer es nicht mag kann es sich spätestens als DVD/Blu-Ray in Originalsprache anschauen 😊
Ich würde mir auch eine Synchronisation der Songs wünschen. Wir haben eine gute Übersetzung vorliegen und alle, die die Originale hören möchten, können den Film doch in OV schauen
Das wäre mehr als schrecklich. An diese zwei Stimmen kommt ein deutscher Synchronsprecher kaum ran. Wäre schade um den Rest des Films und für die Leute die Englisch nicht so gut beherrschen, aber die Originalsänger trotzdem hören wollen. Untertitel für die Songs sind immer eine Option.
@@lillymoser2978 Für die Leute gibt es die Option den Film in English mit deutschen Untertiteln zu schauen, ganz einfach.
Aber warum allen Untertitel aufzwingen, wenn es sehr gute deutsche Liedtexte gibt und auch sehr gute deutsche Darsteller - Willejmin Verkaik z.B.
@@369Sora Wie gesagt, an den Gesang der zwei Sängerinnen kommt kaum jemand ran. Den ganzen Film mit Untertiteln schauen zu müssen ist für viele relativ anstrengend (allgemein). Ich habe noch nie in einer Deutschfassung, in der das Lied ebenfalls auf Deutsch gesungen wurde, den Gesang als angenehm oder zumindest mittelmäßig empfunden. Naja, wie ich sehe hat da jeder seine eigene Meinung.
@@lillymoser2978 Ist halt deine Meinung, man sollte aber nicht von sich auf andere schließen. Ich für meinen Teil, möchte mich komplett fallen lassen können und das kann ich nicht, wenn ständig die Sprache wechselt und die Untertitel nicht mal zum Gesang passen, weil man die normalerweise nicht mal singen kann. Bringt mich raus. Ja, mag sein, dass es tolle Stimmen sind, aber man kann eben auch vernünftige Deutsche Synchronstimmen engagieren, die beides können. Sabrina Weckerlin wäre ein weiteres Beispiel, sie hat die Rolle ebenfalls schon gesungen und gespielt
@@369Sora Naja, ich glaube nicht das irgendjemand im Kinosaal singt oder nur zuhört und dabei die Augen schließt. Ariana Grande ist eine der besten Sängerinnen weltweit, die kann sogar von einem vernünftigen Synchronsprecher nicht nachgesungen werden. Es gibt etliche Filme, die nicht nachgesungen wurden und da hat sich nie jemand beschwert. Dafür gab es aber immer die gegenteilige Situation. Für mich verliert dabei einfach der komplette Film an Charme. Auch bei Kindershows (mit echten Schauspielern natürlich) wird der Gesang oft nicht übersetzt, selbst wenn die Kinder diesen nicht verstehen. Seien wir mal ehrlich, Deutsch ist auch nicht wirklich eine Sprache zum Singen 😅

@@lisaschutt7302 The more you know about ideological streams and their key messages you see that stuff anywhere. From ice cream ads, to music, all the way to the big screen. The West really is dripping in propaganda, it's everywhere.
I give a superficial overview over some techniques used in this one minute trailer (you can go much deeper, if you want):
1) The first hint is in the opening speech itself. To unite the people you need a common enemy. In 1984 - a great piece of literature - it is shown that the fictional oppressive governments do use common enemies (the other nations, or Emmanuel Goldstein) to unite the people. In Ender's Game again the alien bugs are suggested to actually not be a real enemy, and Ender saves the eggs, because he felt guilty that he won the war against them for humanity. Superficially (and it's even the author's intent), the aliens are not evil, they are just made the enemy by the government to unite the people and wage war against them effectively - a trope that mirrors 1984. However, a valid interpretation (against the author's intent), is that the bugs are actually a threat and it is necessary to unite the people against them. Wicked is mocking the idea of uniting a people against an enemy and frames it as an obvious political ploy. Once you see the same message again and again in both fictional works an actual politics, you realize that it results in people having knee-jerk reactions to certain patterns they see. "Oh, there's an enemy? That means you try to trick me!". Basically it is a technique abusing the healthy scepticism towards being presented an enemy, by suggesting enemies aren't real: it's just a misunderstanding. Now who would profit from such messaging? Once you read into the people involved in that movie, you'll realize that they have a political camp in common - but I will comment on that at the end.
2) The dichotomy between the ugly green-skinned witch (and in an expectedly ham-fisted manner cast black woman as the actress) and the pretty blonde witch. This is a classic theme for propagandists, especially for those interested in race-relations and international relations, but there's many other fields where such a technique can apply. They try to educate the audience: don't judge the cover by the book. And while this is good advice for experts in their field, if you apply this message to everything and reinforce the message again and again, people start to simply not judge at all and adopt a relativist worldview against their instinct and culture. It is in a way a continuation of the "enemies can't be real" messaging.
3) The backdrop of Wicked (continuing a common interpretation of Wizard of Oz) is an authoritarian government. The wizard is seen as an evil authoritarian figure. The quest of our heroes is to bring him down, although the world he operates in is rather beautiful, technologically advanced and peaceful. This is a common message among movements such as communists or BLM: the group that sees itself as oppressed (black/green witches), also recognizes that the society they are in actually works and is rather good. So how to justify protesting a working system? It's a difficult nut to crack. Communists especially have a hard time criticizing capitalism, since capitalist systems work - despite their flaws - rather well, while their own system failed. So they focus on principles, ethics and smaller issues within that system they want to topple. BLM identified police brutality and misconduct, in Wicked the Wizard is a fraud and therefore evil. Speaking of BLM: it does mirror Wicked rather nicely, since in US crime statistics you find rather disturbing numbers. The movement therefore is very focused on highlighting that crime is the result of the environment, not of genetics - and furthermore not the environment of their community, but the environment provided by capitalism/the wizard of Oz. The wizard, or rather, capitalism, is to be blamed for the riots of BLM / the attack of the witch. The critique of an imagined authoritarian conservative wizard government is also continued in the LGBTQ themes in Wicked and their casting.
The movie itself leans deeper in those and other themes, but this is what one could glean alone from the trailer.
Now you might be tempted to think "damn this is some schizo ramble, he just made this all up". Perhaps we'll just listen into what the author of the screenplay has to say herself: "Gregory’s book was always political in nature. It’s a political book. We were never unaware that it had within it the power to make a political statement.".

klar, man sieht jetzt schon, dass der böse weiße mann bekämpft werden muss.
der film kst insipririert von einem buch und einem musical, welche es schon viel früher gab als diese Woke Geschichte von der du redest.

Der Autor und die Drehbuchautorin verstehen die Story als eine politische. Aber du weißt es natürlich besser.
Siehe auch meine Antwort zu deiner anderen Frage. Allerdings hat mir ein Bekannter gesagt, dass der Kommentar nicht zu sehen ist. Ist dem UPG wohl nicht genehm, wenn man den Trailer kurz analysiert. Anstatt zu antworten wird lieber zensiert.
@@vornamenachname594Ich würde immerhin behaupten, dass die politischen Statements von Gregory's Buch nicht die gleichen sind wie die, die der Original Kommentar anspricht. Und selbst wenn sie das wären, wäre das sicher nichts schlechtes, da "Woke" nicht mehr bedeutet als politisch engagiert für Minderheiten zu sein. Und die Woke Culture ist auch kein neues Phänomen sondern besteht seit den 1930er.
Wieso wurde "Defying Gravity" abgeändert? Wenn die Schauspielerin das nicht singen kann, hätten die jemanden nehmen sollen, der die Töne treffen kann, anstatt diesen wichtigen Part einfach abzuändern. Und Ariana Grande als Galinda? Überzeugt absolut null. Sorry. Niemand wird Willemijn Verkaik und Lucy Scherer als Glinda und Elphaba toppen können.
Was wurde da abgeändert? Den Battle Cry am Ende singen viele Darstellerinen mit jeweils ihrem eigenen Riff. Ich empfehle das Video von Cynthia Erivo's Live-Performance des Songs "Alfie" zur Weiterbildung bezüglich der gesanglichen Qualitäten der Besetzung. Wenn die Frau was kann, dann ist das singen.
Ariana Grande ist mehr als perfekt. Die Frau kann nicht nur unglaublich gut singen sondern das war einer ihrer größten Kindheitsträume. Sie könnte man nicht toppen.
Dann höre Dir die CD an und lasse denen die Ahnung haben einfach ihren Spaß.
