For real greatest game
My PS2 still works, just played the game yesterday😁

@@andylaw3222 😏your wish has come true
@@TheRealMephistoFr Yeah i saw it yesterday, but this will probably a bad game.
I am 100% sure, that the developers and studios that worked at the old games are no longer there, let alone working on this project.
The first 3 game were created in a time where games had heart&soul, unlike today.
Greed, greed and even more greed, that's all that matters today.
In addition, the disgusting toxic online community who has zero skill and looks everything up online instead of slowly gaining skill all by themselves.
Characters you will have to pay for and all those other negative things that exist today.
The second and third game have over 180 Characters, each of them can be unlocked by skill.
You know just as well as i do that won't be the case this time.
I am extremely sorry, i really don't want to be that negative guy, but this is how it is today.
I have over 3000 hours in Tenkaichi 2 and 3, that won't be the case this time.
I will buy the game but only because i am a collector, i don't intend to play it.
Again, really sorry, but i hope you can and will have a lot of fun with it!
Sorry for my bad english today, i am a bit off...
This game is how I learned most of Dragon Ball lore as a kid, since the anime would only air at 2 AM
Hey, me too!

My favorite memory of this game will always be when my mom called a repairman and his son to come help fix a broken kitche appliance, and on their breaks, the son would do a few matches with me.
Repairman was blowing out your mums back while y’all were occupied 😂😂😂
LMAO who won
😂
I love this game. It’s more in depth than a lot of people realize. If played at high level the fights look just like the anime.
I swear people act like it's a button masher, you can play like that but the person who knows the combos are going to win 9/10
Yes!
Have you ever seen those TAS vs TAS gameplays? Looks almost like a 3D anime
100. ive had my ass kicked perfectly thematically many times
Yeah this and raging blast had crazy game play at the high level
16:30 The best part about this piccolo move is, when he puts his hand on his opponent's arm lightly, it counts as a hit
That did a whopping 340 damage so Piccolo's got one hell of a grip
Do you see his nails. No wonder.
Those nails of Piccolo are sharper than any sword on the planet
@@TenkaichiMeister That took me out, that grab does more damage then goku's punches xD
One of the best moves in the game
Some things I find interesting or funny about this game:
-The adult version of Goku is split into three forms because in the previous games you only had one adult Goku but that Goku had to be able to use all the signature moves and forms, meaning you had a Goku who could potentially become super saiyan 3 against Radditz, lmao. The three adult versions of Goku in this game represent, in order of earliest to latest, him in the Saiyan Saga (Early), him from the Frieza Saga up until the Cell Saga (Mid), and him in the rest of Z (End). Even after this split, Goku still has moves he really shouldn't have at certain points of the story, such as kaioken and spirit bomb against Radditz. Another notable character split is Piccolo, who not only got his King Piccolo version from Dragon Ball but also him both before and after he fused with Kami.
-There are very few melee Blast 2/Ultimate moves that work on the giant enemies (the great apes, Hirudegarn, and whatnot). For this reason, you generally want to use characters that have some sort of ki attack for one of the Blast 2 or Ultimate moves. Videl and Mr. Satan have an extremely difficult time against the giant enemies since they have no Blast 2 or Ultimate moves that aren't melee moves and they're not strong enough to stagger the giant enemies without charged attacks - if you're good at the game, though (that is, you know the best combos to stagger and mess up an opponent) you can still beat them fairly handedly.
-The Yamcha Games, I'm pretty sure, are entirely made-up for this game. It is among a myriad of other world/character lore that's made up for the sake of enhancing the game. Another chief concoction exclusive to this game is the great ape forms of characters who had never before been seen as such - namely Nappa and Turles.
-Mr. Satan's Present move is cheap because unlike most melee Blast 2 moves it doesn't instigate a clash when it makes contact with an enemy that's using dragon-homing or a melee Blast 2. Instead, it interrupts and overrides the opponent's Blast 2, meaning if you do it as an opponent is charging at you you'll always hit them with the attack. And I don't remember, but I *think* it could work on giant enemies - I'd try but the only version of the game I have readily available is an emulated version which I think bugs out the move for some reason.
-There are quite a few characters who don't have the ability of proper flight; they'll float in the air, but gradually descend towards the ground unless you maintain their height by forcing them to rise. I think it's a feature of most characters in Dragon Ball (the original series, not Z or GT or whatever - the one with kid Goku, King Piccolo, and all that) have, but also Mr. Satan, Yajirobe, and Master Roshi have.
-Devilman's Devilmite beam is one of the most strangely intricate attacks in the game. It doesn't do the same amount of damage to all opponents - in fact, a lot of characters receive differing amounts of damage, likely based on how "wicked" their heart is, as that's how it was in the original show. As a rule of thumb the "good" characters receive less damage from it than the "evil" characters, but it goes even further than that. Certain characters are outright immune to it - the ones I know of are all base forms of Goku (in the show he actually was immune to the attack), Chi-Chi, Arale, Goten, Android 8, and Nam. Interestingly, Goku actually *will* take damage from it if he's in any super saiyan form. I think the character that takes the most damage from it is Super Janemba, which makes sense since he's the physical incarnation of all the evil energy in Other World. He does a crap ton of damage to Syn/Omega Shenron with the attack too, which makes you wonder how GT could've ended if Devilman was still hanging around. Of course hilariously in the What-If scenario he makes an appearance in, he one-shots all the Frieza Force, Frieza himself, and King Cold with this attack, but damage values in story mode are always scripted.
-Beyond the What-If Saga, there are points in the story mode where you can obtain secret endings for scenarios. Among the most absurd that I can think of are Tambourine somehow coming back to life to fight Chi-Chi, Mr. Satan stepping in to fight Cell if Goku is defeated quickly, Master Roshi saving Goku and friends from Broly, and Babidi fighting in Majin Buu's place if Vegeta manages to kill Buu without going full kamikaze. Technically you could obtain a non-canon ending in every scenario by simply not pressing R3 or otherwise diverging from how the fights were done, but a lot of these endings aren't particularly noteworthy.
Yea there are a TON of little details and mechanics like that throughout the entire game some others I can think of are the androids mainly 19 20 and super 17s ability to absorb ki attacks. You can actually win story mode battles with characters that werent meant to win in the show for example you can defeat nappa with chiaotzu witch makes for some pretty funny dialouge. One of the many reasons why BT3 is my favorite dbz game ever.
Do you know about the loading screen trick tho
I think that Spopovitch's attack with Yamu also charges Babidi's Ultimate If I remember correctly.
This game also shines in defensive tactics. You can teleport from almost everything with the right timing as long as you have ki, even from from explossions (though that was incredibily hard to do without equiped items since explosions do several hits and you have to time all of them)
This game was great and I wish the Raging Blast ones would have been closer to it. They added some interesting new mechanics, but at the same time, they took several steps backwards with how the game worked.
The flight mechanic is amazing, especially on Master Roshi...
The Devilman What If always was my favourite!
Man, I remember playing this on the PS2. It was one of the last games I played on PS2 so it holds a great place in my heart. The roster was massive and I loved doing the scenarios.

This game brings me back. From spinning PS2 analog sticks to waggling Wii remotes this was and forever will be a Z tier game.
Being able to do fusions and transform mid fight was my favourite feature. The hype it would bring alongside ki struggles, damaged clothes and being able to destroy the map, with some moves, was incredible.
I dont think Toriyama wants to forget about Raditz, I think he already has.

What I like a lot about both this game and Soul Calibur 3, also for the PS2, is the sheer amount of single-player content. So much to do and so many characters and items to unlock.
What I love about SC3 is my COTS data being corrupted by a bug and starting all over again. Learned the hard way to dedicate a memory card specifically to SC3.
@@deaj8450 Now that you mention it, I think that actually happened to me too. Like I said, good times... heh

Stop the cap. You all are letting nostalgia cloud your mind. That or you play no fighting games at all. I love Tenkaichi as well, but it doesn't hold a candle to many fighting games. Even Fighterz, in my opinion, is the best DBZ fighting game.
@@Xeno_Solarus FighterZ is one of the most overrated, unimaginative and boring-looking dbz games ever. It's literally just Guilty Gear with a Dragon Ball Z skin on top of it. I don't think BT3 held up the test of time that well, but it still left a much bigger legacy than FighterZ or any other DBZ game to date ever will, only thing noteworthy about FZ is the pro scene and that's about it. Literally everything FZ did BT3 had done it better and without ripping off from another game outside of the franchise.

I can't emphasize enough how good the BT2 and BT3 soundtracks are. Like truly impressive and fun works of art, and as a musician I just can't get over the songs lol
Yep. BT2 has a team of composers working on each section of the OST, and it'd be nice to see more of those people return for newer scores. BT3's on the other hand was done by Toshiyuki Kishi, and he fortunately is still around doing OSTs, such as Tenkaichi Tag Team, Raging Blast 1's, Extreme Butoden, some of Battle of Z's, and collaborating on FighterZ.
But didn't sparking meteor (BT3's japanese version) use the original soundtrack from the anime?
NO WAY. My little heart can't take this. I've been thinking about this game so much lately and watching your content a lot and this is just a wish come true. I think the collective human consciousness is really establishing this game as a legend, like it deserves. Praying that a remaster gets released some day.

@@JakNasty69 While not exactly a remaster, Raging Blast 1 and 2 was more or less their attempt at giving the series the HD treatment. When it was time to switch to the HD consoles back in the PS3/360 era, they had to redo all the assets from scratch. Unfortunately, that meant having a smaller roster again, since BT3's was only so big because it was building off of the work done for BT1 and 2, and the RB titles never got far enough to reach that amount. On top of that, the rushed dev times and lower budgets around that period led to those games also feeling a lot less polished and not as fun.
@@Sawngawkuh Nope, the PS3 titles Raging Blast sucked in comparison to the PS2-titles.
The controls also sucked in those games for the PS3!
The one game that is a proper improvement over Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is Tenkaichi Tag Team for the Playstation Portable (PSP) - it has the same controls, most of the characters excluding the giants I believe and it lacked moving mouths so the graphics were slightly worse due to it being on the PSP but it had 2 VS 2 multiplayer.
I think in ways it was better with the 2 vs 2 multiplayer.
@@JakNasty69 It could use 2 VS 2 multiplayer like Tenkaichi Tag Team for the PSP as well. It made the game better, as it's still possible to play 1 vs 1.
@@mrnygren2 Yeah. From what I recall, Tenkaichi Tag Team reused some of the assets of the BT titles, so the gameplay got carried over and retained a level of polish that dwarfed the rushed and broken work done for the two RB titles.

I played the hell out of this both in the ps2 version and the wii version. For the wii version i had a hacked version of the game that used the original game ost instead of the western version. The japanese version had the series ost as game ost and it is beautiful.

Came here from Tenkaichi 4 announcement
Let's go, budokai tenkaichi 4!!!
My parents bought me this game when I was 7 years old. Back then I had no clue what Dragon ball was but everyday when I came home I'd play this game everyday. The more I play the more I learn to love the characters even thou I didn't remember their names. But one-day the disc was damaged and I couldn't play it anymore. In 2010 I saw Dragon ball appear on Nick for the first time and I knew that it seemed familiar to me but I couldn't understand why and now I'm a full time dragon ball fan. I wish I could relive those days playing that amazing game. It's game mechanics, fighting, beam clashes and environmental and planetary destruction is exactly how the anime portrays. This is the only dragon ball game that actually FEELS like a Dragon ball game. Maybe someday the series can come back with a remaster for all players to enjoy. Xbox, playststion even pc or Nintendo for future generations can see and experience this masterpiece.

When I was about 12 I would visit my best friend and we would play this game together. He would always play SSJ4 Gogeta and I would always play Vegeta and Goku, then fuse into Vegito then go Super Vegito (because you are stronger if you fuse in game instead of picking a pre-fused character).
Also Broly was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO broken we disallowed picking him when we dueled.
The fact I am gonna probably pay resell price or if I find one randomly at a flea market or something is crazyyyy I gotta have it in my collection again I miss it
I remember back in elementary school playing tenkaichi 1 watching hercule vs hercule in computer only battle and they would just spin around with their faces pressed against each other.
