Thanks for the video brother, it made changing the stem very easy. Have the same kitchen faucet, I think model #209-442, but did the hot water stem. I didn't know the stem model #, but just matched it up with the one I took out. For anyone else doing this, the hot water stem is Danco 3S-15H, and the cold stem is Danco 3S-15C. It worked perfectly, and had no issues. Got a good laugh from your out take comment "probably should of waited before I drank". Thanks again.
Mike A Thank you so much for your great input. I am sure it is going to help me out in the future when I have to do it again Ha. Yeah I have a small drinking problem sometimes. But it makes interesting videos. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Aloha and take care
better handle then those cheap crappy porcelain ones.. I just busted the handle off and got the pot metal screw broke off IN the handle body= time for a BETTER faucet. Dont anyone buy a HOME IMPRESSIONS two handle faucet. absolute CRAP.
Thanks. I have a tidbit for those that cannot get the water to stop flowing after installing a new cartridge. If you edit this video, add a small extra tip about retightening the housing. I made the mistake of not tightening it quite enough, scared I was pushing it too hard. Turns out that if the housing assembly is not pressing down hard enough on the cartridge, the thing will not work. No matter which direction you turn it in the water runs near full speed. Here is the trick. After putting the cartridge in, reinstall and finger tighten the housing as best you can, then apply the wrench to it for a limited amount of turning resistance. Now, turn the water shutoff valve back on, just enough to know you have water running. Make sure you have the new cartridge turned to the off position and start tightening some more. As you tighten, the water flow should start to diminish. Keep tightening till it is close to stopping and let it settle for a couple minutes. If it is still running a bit, give the housing just a little more of a turn and it should pretty much shut off any remaining water drips. Then you can test by returning the water shutoff valve back to the normal full flow position and retest your new cartridge for any residual drip by turning it on and off again. Adjust as needed but only enough to make the water stop. Overtightening will damage the threads. One other issue I encountered was that I was working with a Glacier Bay faucet unit for which the hot water side had a slightly off axis threading. So, when I reinstalled the housing over the cartridge to thread it on, the only way I could get it on was to honor the off axis thread, which also resulted in some extra resistance as I tightened it to the bottom. I know that I did not mechanically explain that very well, but the only reason I knew something was off was by comparing the hot side to the cold side.
I installed a new Glacier Bay kitchen faucet, but left (cold water) handle was malfunctioning opening and closing water at wrong positions. After watching this video I reinstalled the cartridge and everything works just fine. Thank you so much for the detailed and informative film.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to show others how to change this faucet cartridge. I have the same Glacier Bay unit and went to Home Depot to see about getting a part and they were no help at all. So believe me when I say you really helped me understand what I needed and now will be able to fix it myself. Oh by the way, I really liked your rooster back ground sound. It is better than music. It took me back to my youth when growing up on a farm. Thanks
My hot water side doesn't shut the water off. It's not leaking just can't shut off. Home depot sucks for warranty information, I only had this faucet for a month. Good thing you're on here and have the same faucet. Thanks for the help. I'll post once I fix it.
Thanks for the video worked exactly like yours. Love Glacier Bay mine has a lifetime warranty and got my cartridges free. Nice to see a company stand behind the warranty. Will buy more of their products in the future.
Thanks for making the video and thanks to Dan G for the phone number. I just called and they'll be sending me two new cartridges for my bathroom faucet. I'm pretty sure I can do the install myself thanks to your video. You saved me a good $80.
I did the research to find the parts. My local THD had the model still on display. Got the stem but wanted to know more about the repair. I appreciate your effort to make this vid. Makes the task expeditious. Gratsi!!!
Very helpful video, except for one aspect: my Glacier Bay faucet which looks very similar, had no set screw in the handles. I was reluctant to just pry the handle off with a screwdriver, but since I was at the point with nothing to lose, I got two slim blades under opposite sides and the handle popped off quire easily. After that, finding the correct cartridge was the only challenge. Home Depot nor any of the local building supply stores had anything remotely close. I found one online that looks similar, but I'm reluctant to order based on a poor quality photo.
Thanks! I have the same faucet. I was nervous as the little plastic piece that wasn't included with your replacement cartridge was broken on my faucet. Home Depot has one cartridge left for the hot water, which is what I needed, and it included the plastic piece. Easy to replace after watching your video.
thanks for the video. i have the same POS faucet. within 2 months of installing the faucet, it started leaking. call up HD or glacier bay and they sent me TWO cartridges. replaced it was fine. that was 3 years ago. the problem came back this week and i just tried to replace the cartridge and it was a nightmare. no way to completely turn off the water since something isn't aligned. look at how much overlap there is.
I had purchased the faucet at Home Depot. When I went to get the part I had to actually open up another faucet with a HD associate to correctly identify the part. My suggestions would be either Lowes or online somewhere. Thank you for watching.
I bought mine at a Home Depot too. They told me that I would have to call Glacier Bay to get the cartridge. They then sold me a look alike which did not work. NEVER EVER GO TO HOME DEPOT AGAIN.
thanks for posting the video. i followed your directions, and replaced the stem on my hot water handle. i can't get the water to turn off with the handle, though. any suggestions?
this saved me a trip all the way into town we live out in the country, and it saved me a hundred bucks,so thanks man thanks a bunch,i love youtube,i joined youtube in 2005 when it first came out and there wasnt anything on here, just me and this chick that talked, haha we made goofy video's of our pets to send via email to family that was it,and now look at it,teaches you how to work on your car and everything,so its one good thing with this online business you know, now the rest of it umm no good, get on facebook then go to google type in your name and bam it shows the world wher you live what you drive how much you make all of it,i hate that shit, with psycho's now days fuck facebook, thats just my two pennies, plus who wants to hook up with people from the past,i dont, its the past for a reason.thanks dude
I wish I was in Aloha territory. Up here in Winnipeg it was -14C last night and some of us can't use our water cause the pipes are frozen. Maybe by June! Have a great day, EH!
Wow that is pretty cold I could never survive in your weather. You guys are strong. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Aloha and stay warm my friend
Sorry for the late response. It could be possible that the handle is not aligned or the pieces need to be rotated. Hope this somewhat helps. Thank you so much for watching.
When using water pump pliers, you should use them correctly as to not damage the surface. They grip one way and release the opposite way. And always put the stopper in the sink drain before starting repairs. Less chance you'll have of losing small parts down the drain!
If you find yourself in a similar situation with this Home Depot faucet (minor leaks) I may have good news for you if you saved your receipt and "user guide" - The faucet has a lifetime warrantee and Home Depot will send you free repair parts. Once you receive them, watch this video and the replacement is easy.
Even the salespeople at Home Depot (where I bought my faucet a few years ago) laughed at me when I told them I was looking for a replacement cartridge for a Glacier Bay faucet. "Good luck with that" was the reply at one store. At the second store, I was met with a large smile and "Try this one, I doubt it will fit but it is all we have that might be close".
not true I had a handle bust on a cheap piece of shit HOME IMPRESSIONS faucet. basically it was OH WELL. So i said FUCK YOU I AM GOING DELTA! much better brand. my bathroom has a glacier bay one handle and so far I love it.
well. youtube won't let me post a link to flickr. there's about an 1/8" overlap between the white and gray plastic pieces for the valve to be completely shut.
I've been unable to get the retainer nut to tighten on top of the cartridge. without the cartridge in, it can tighten down fine. the cartridge matches the old one and appears seated mostly fine within the two side indentations. any clue? thanks
Hey Matthew, sorry for the delay! looking back at this old video made me cringe! I used a good HD camera but it was terrible for close up work. I can't believe I didn't include all of the steps. I would measure both to make absolutely sure that they are the same. Try to see if any debris are in the way. perhaps try turning it around. Hope this helps some
i appreciate the thoughts in your reply. i gave it many hours to try to clean it and checked out the cartridges. it was so close to being repaired, as i had done it in the past. i gave up on it and purchased a new faucet. got a PF this one time; hopefully it will outlast the GB one (6 years and a couple cartridge replacements.)
I probably would have done the same thing after getting very frustrated trying to make it work. I'm wondering if the cartridge itself was defective Aloha and take care
Replacement parts are free if you contact Glacier Bay at 1-877-580-5682. You may need the store receipt and model number. Home Depot is the exclusive seller of these products. Hope this helps.
LOL I went to Home Depot looking for replacement parts since that is where I bought my faucet. The sales guy laughed at me and told me to never buy this brand (2 different locations did this). They are notorious for not having replacement parts...

Thank you. Solved our faucet issues. We’ve the same GB faucet. Like the rooster BGM😄
Thanks for this. Wouldn’t have figured this out otherwise.

I don’t know if anyone posted it but the Allen wrench/ hex key you need is the 2.5mm size.
Came to the comments for this. Thanks!

Basic information and neither are provided in the video.
What is the part number and where did you find the part ???
How do lubricate the O rings? The spout won’t rotate
You so awesome thanks homie

I'm sorry I don't remember. It came as a set and it was very small.

LOL why is no one commenting on the chicken hahaha soo cutee
All you had to do is call Glacier Bay. They will send you all the replacement parts for free. Just like Delta and every brand Home Depot sells.
Thanks for the input. Is that for the life of the faucet?
Will they also ship for free?
That would be awesome.
Life of faucet and FREE shipping. Lifetime Warranty!!!
I have phoned.... Over - and over ...
