I just started on Onewheel yesterday. I can't believe what a difference foot placement has made. I noticed a marked improvement in stability and maneuvering the instant I let my rear toes and front heal hang by just an inch or 2. Excellent video!

Jake - BIG THANKS! Your last footing tip about rear toes off and front heel off was just what this total newbie needed. I finally crossed the yard multiple times! I gained so much stability and finally a commanding feel for the board tilt with this tip. Also a great help to know what to do with my size 13's on those pads. Thanks again, and happy trails... P.S. I'm also one of those older guys (50+) trying something new. Feeling that board turn side to side so gracefully is just amazing.

Naturally I started with a wider stance because I'm used to snowboarding. I tried the narrower stance and it gave me a lot more control. I find a narrow standard stance is best for everyday riding and spinning, but if I'm jumping off ledges and stuff, I go wide. This is the first video I found confirming that.
Good stuff, keep it up my man!

This was a game changer for me! I'm only a few weeks into my OneWheel and I've been riding every single day. This narrow slalom stance angle combined with the toe hanging over the back and heel over the front has made me a much more confident rider. In addition to the superior handing and stability, I feel really light on the board. Going up and down curbs became much easier and my shitty left knee appreciates that. Thank you!

This was great! I’ve been having a lot of heel pain lately and wondering if it’s due to riding. I can’t wait to give the heel way off the front a try and see how that goes.
And you blew my mind with the obvious physics of a narrow stance vs wide. My immediate stance was wide for more balance.

Wide, centered foot is appropriate for high speed bumpy terrain, but for being nimble on smooth ground I like narrow and staggered

I like this stance a ton. I've been having a hard time with my raptor legs..
I've been toe walker my whole life, barefoot I can walk all day and never touch my heel down ever. So when I ride with flat shoes like Van's, I keep getting pad engagement issues. With running shoes with a bit of heel, it goes away.
This stance let's me stand much more naturally and not force my heels down awkwardly like I've been doing.
This feels much safer and more natural for me. Thanks!

I came to this from a link and I wish I had seen this before I got on one. I am duck foot on a snowboard, rear straight on a wake board and my kiteboard os just where my feet land. I couldn't work out my position to turn as I wanted the board to be either narrow or my feet to be bigger, I tried this today. keeping my duck stance but narrow and having my front foot over the heel and the rear over the toe and my turning radius was instantly decreased with no stability issues, this should be included in every beginner video before bad habits set in.
