The way he plays this piece is phenomenal. The way I play this piece is enough to make Bach rise from his grave to smash my piano.
exactly
Emily. If you can play this at half speed, you're doing OK. Remember you're playing it for you, not anyone else. Keep plugging away at them.
Has he smashed it yet
That is literally what my teacher says-
Same
His tone is so pure. Honestly one of the best Bach players out there (as far as piano goes).
True. Not good basketball but good piano.
@@rravviabecause Bach compose music not just for piano. But funny to think about Bach ‘composing’ basketball moves lol
I love sound and the constant changes in dynamics and probably some added in ornaments. It's a wonderful interpretation of Bach's Prelude and Fugue No. 21 in B flat major.
I love his clarity, one of my favorite pianists!
Beautiful playing from my favourite Bach interpreter... warmth, not too hurried a tempo, such a natural and gentle shaping, refined and intelligent playing.
I totally agree!! Its so clear too!!
I know, as much as I love Richter, his interpretation is far too rapid, Schiff allows us the time to enjoy all the colours of what is quite a joyous piece
My gifted mother opened her solo Piano Recital on Sunday April 3,1938 at Mount Mary College with this piece by Bach. She also was the mother of eight children.
+Max Walczak 13 CHILDREN!!!!!
Wow, her iq must be around 125 then
@-insert forgettable name- *Harpsichord and Organist
Well that's good 😊
I'm still working on figuring out that damn fugue!
I've got a tip: work each voice out.. then put two voices together and then play all of them. That is the way im doing and it's working very well.
I just started the prelude
I'm sure ill like it
my daughter plays it she's only 9

Thank you for helping me in RCM History...online course is missing a lot of stuff
catherine luk Thanks for the overview
@@richy77 lol same it's like we need to memorize a whole textbook for this exam
Thanks! I need this for my RCM history course.
But it's disappointing how we need to analyze all this, because it's supposed to be fun and easy to listen to. However you can appreciate the beauty more
i going to ram
The way he plays out thus song with the smoothness is so phenomenal! Such clarity is achieved in both the prelude and the fugue. This is how a Bach piece should be played like.
He is so talented! What a phenomenal job he had done!
This is a beautiful song. I learned the Bach Praeludium 21 and I really appreciate the way this is played. Thank you so much!
Song? When we talk about voices in a fugue, we don't mean people singing!
But yes, it is a fabulous interpretation, and it's nice to see so many people have taken it on
Lovely! He plays so smoothly… btw 0:07 is prelude and 1:23 is fugue
plays out all the parts with such clarity and articulation
The first Prelude and Fugue I ever learned, took me 2 whole months. Half a month of solid practicing on the prelude, and a month and a half for the measly 2 minute long 3 part fugue.
first prelude fugue? Noice
great preformance! love it
absolutely beautiful
The prelude was great but the fugue was stunning!
Man I love this song so much.
Beautiful!!
Thank you! This has really helped me in my piano exam!
Nam Pham same

Very good interpretation @András Schiff
Quelle clareté dans la construction et dans la sonorité! Magnifique

I like his interpretation and tone quality its not to forcing but its not too light either and its also elegant the way he rolls the chords in measure 17.
Don’t forget the beginning of measure 18 too!
Schiff is a good pianist.
Love it!!👍😋😍😍😘😘
😘😘😘😂😂😂😂 who likes it?? I do
+Gracey J hahahahahaha
+Gracey J hahahahahaha
nice song
superb
Great
Doing this for grade 8 - got a year to learn it + another two pieces....
💜
Why is Schiff's playing sound so different other pianists? It's so clear and kind of bouncy.
why did i even choose this song? its 2 fast for me though it sounds really good. this was beautifully played
Fast doesn’t mean it’s difficult ;)
not a song lol but a composition :)
wow
the strokes are feathery.
and damp
Douglas Lawrie totally
Damp feathers!
+jekk23 ahahaahahaha Black Books
+jekk23 literally the reason i am learning this piece.

Yep it is very beautiful I really enjoyed listening to this
nice
I just came across this piece of music and it reminds more of jazz than classical music. My understanding of music is very basic, it's mainly made of melody, rhythm and bass. So rock/pop music puts an emphasis on the melody while jazz is more about the rhythm and bass. So my question is, how does classical music fit in all of this? What is the driving force behind it? There's a lot of it that doesn't make sense to me, the music just keeps going on and on. And to what end?
Prelude - 0:08
Fugue - 1:23
bir sozle super

only one her in 2020!
I lobe this sonata
Do we need pedal to play the prelude?
2:20
yeet.
funny and very relevant comment
jocab henke agreed
1:22
Anyone else find the prelude harder to play than the fugue? Just me?
Definitely not as easy as it looks! But the double notes of the fugue are worst in my opinion...
Nose Trade nah
The prelude is actually quite simple. I'm struggling on the fugue part. Any tips??
Jing Wang I suggest not to rush. Better play it slowly than having notes sound like mush
@@jingwang6059 voice every line, use proper articulation and memorize is as quickly as possible to polish it on tempo
Anyone here for history
I like the fuge part better :)
Great performance! But not quite like I playing it though, I play the praeludium much faster, I think its sounds a lot prettier when it flies :D Fuge was great in my opinion !
I too prefer the prelude soaring fast, and the fugue was perfect IMO!
Yo prefiero la velocidad escogida por Schiff, permite escuchar claramente todas las notas; que difícilmente se aprecian si se interpretan demasiado rápido. Pero bueno, todos tenemos gustos distintos. Saludos
Respectfully, I have to disagree. I think a lot of people play this prelude way too fast, like they’re in a race trying to get to the end as fast as they possibly can. This was a much more reasonable tempo.
uhlan30 --- I agree with this tempo as well. People play it too fast (like Richter for example.)
Hi
Why are these always played so ridiculously fast?
Because they are 32nd notes..
Somewhat pedestrian. Glenn Gould every time for me with this piece.
1:23 채원아 여기서부터 푸가
Uno dei pianisti più sopravvalutati della storia, bravo ma assolutamente non un fenomeno.
