Hi Srijit, Came here to post an issue that happens to me when I play any varisais at 3rd or 4th speed. When I switch from Sa string to Pa String, I hear a screeching sound. I tried putting enough rosin on bow. No luck. I am inclined to think that the bow is slipping at that speed. Is this a known issue with beginners.?
Other possibility is the Pa String is not responding. After seeing the String cover, it says steel core. I dont know much on this. Since you touched upon strings here in this vdo, I am posting my query here.
New violin 7 months old. Sandner 300P.

If you're playing 3rd or 4th speed using the base of your bow, it's not the right way. You have to use the tip (the end of the bow/quarter bow). Slipping is a beginner issue but can also cause if there's not enough rosin. Screeching though is not because of rosin, it's because you're putting too much pressure on the bow. Apologies for the late reply. I wasn't notified.

Thanks for the reply. I am indeed playing in the top quarter of the bow for 3rd and 4th speeds. Still the whistling sound didnt go away. Sorry i mentioned as slipping in my OP. It slips and causes a whistling like sound. I did read in other forums and seems like a poor quality E string that doesnt respond well can cause this issue. Many thanks for your inputs.
