      Maybe something with more dangly leaves like string of pearls or something that looks like food like a fruit bowl, or a smoothie bowl? Maybe you can try a glass shape/container to store a bigger coaster that people can use under pots or serving dishes?
      So many ideas, I love your work ❤️

    If anyone is interested in making this with 4 weight yarn, here's what I did:
    I made these with 4 weight yarn and a 4.5mm hook. I started with 12DC, increased accordingly (24dc, 36dc) I did the leaves the same as the tutorial since it was a multiple of 6. The result was almost the exact same size as the tutorial. The only difference is it had 8 petals instead of 10.

      I used DK weight acrylic yarn. The coasters turned out perfectly,but the pot didn’t. So I made the pot out of cotton yarn and am having trouble getting the coasters to stay in the pot. Is it because the acrylic is too slippery?

    I don't personally like working with the "magic ring" technique (it seems to mess with my tension), so I did some experiments and discovered that a ch5 loop works pretty well (in case anyone else needs it :) )

      It's because you need to be VERY careful after each petal. The very next stitch after you make the 8th and final double crochet is very easy to miss. Pulling the petal to the side might help you see it better. Because so many stitches go into the same single crochet, it kind of smushes the stitches close together. Hope that makes sense and helps.

    Your reel popped up on Instagram, and I ran to my mum showing her how cute it was. We've bonded over succulents the last few years, and my mum used to crochet when I was a little kid. I've been trying to encourage her to pick it up again because I think it was a good hobby for her. And I think this might have helped. She asked me if there was a tutorial, looked it up, found this video, and I really hope she'll try this!! ❤

    I have really enjoyed this tutorial and found your instructions very easy to follow! I do have a question though... how do you get your coasters to lay so flat and to be so pliable? Mine are very stiff and have a ripple in them that won't lay flat. I'm thinking about hand washing them with some vinegar to see if that loosens up the weave. I don't think it is a tension problem because I was deliberate about crocheting looser after the first one. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

      I got 9 the first time I did it too. I redid it and the second time I got 10. Sometimes a stitch can get hidden when you are finishing the petal. When you’re getting ready to do the SC after doing the second 4DC of the petal, pull it back a bit and you might see a stitch hiding there! I did this going around the second time and realized I ended up just skipping a couple on accident the first time around!

    • @brunaticality
      @brunaticality  Год назад +1

      Hi Anni, I would guess that it could be the tension used when crocheting, I have a loose tension when crocheting, I would suggest sizing up the hook into a 4 or 4.5mm hook, sometimes using a different yarn can affect the end results as well, so you might need to use the recommended hook size for that particular yarn. Hope it helps, Don't give up you can do it!! ❤😍

    • @brunaticality
      @brunaticality  Год назад +1

      I am not sure, 6 I know it does. 7 maybe. You could make the pot a little bigger, add another round after the last one I do for the base like this: 2 single crochet into next st, 1 single crochet into next 3 sts, repeat the same around. If you want to add one more do this: 2 single crochet into next st, 1 single crochet into next 4 sts, repeat the same around. Then you can repeat the rest of the pot. I hope this helps.

    Hello! I have a question about the yarn. I've tried messaging directly. Can someone help me with the yarn used? Is mercenized cotton ok to use? Also, for the pot, what type of yarn is that? I have looked for what i think is rope/cord yarn? Not very experienced, any help welcome. I'm in the US, so something I can find here. Thanks to all! 😊

    • @brunaticality
      @brunaticality  Год назад +1

      Hey 💓 Sorry I didn't see your message yet. Yes you can use mercerized cotton too. The pot yarn is a corded/rope yarn. Here are some examples of what you can use:
      For the coaster:
      - Example from Joann: www.joann.com/patons-linen-yarn/19171545.html
      - Lily Sugar'n Cream Yarn will work too
      - Any DK yarn will work
      For the plant pot:
      - amzn.to/3Zm1B4X - This one is very similar to the one I have used.
      - This lion bland yarn can work, it will give the structure that it needs: amzn.to/3yXHTSo - Lion Brand Yarn Company Cotton Yarn, 100% Cotton
      - any rope Worsted yarn will work even macrame yarn
      I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.

      Also looking for US yarn recommendations. Sugar’n Cream is a stiffer cotton (great for ami) and these look like they need to have a bit more movement. I have never seen corded yarn either so hoping to find a US retailer that sells something similar!

    • @rosiemen7268
      @rosiemen7268 Год назад +1

      @irishpaperdoll Agreed! I was searching, and nothing similar came up. The ones that came up were either too thick or were more like rope; not nice looking.

    I love this. The coasters are great. I can't get the basket to work out. I'm not sure if it's technique or if I have the wrong materials. I've tried several times with different yarn, but I've had no luck. Any advice? I'm in the US, so it could just be the wrong yarn. Sizes and materials of yarns are called different things here.

    😍I LOVE this pattern. I came here just for the pot pattern to go with some flower coasters I made but now I'll definitely be making the succulent as well for my sister!
    I really love that you showed the measurements of the pot in case we're using different yarn or tension, but I wish the measurements of the bottom had been shown before starting the sides 😭I got to the end of the pot before seeing you measure the bottom at 7cm and mine was only 5cm so I had to undo all the way down the sides and make my base bigger. Definitely my fault that I didn't check first or notice that it seemed small, but my heart sank when I measured mine lmao
