you might hate me for this but i've always thought and believed that rose is THE actual and the only *musician* in her group and not just an idol . i am the one to like an artist for their music factor and not any other x-factor (looks, dancing, skills , nature, cuteness, body and all that) and honestly, rose's lyricism and her choice of music has always gained my attention and she is probably the only reason i stan blackpink, but it kinda sucks when people call her out for no sense of music not knowing that she probably doesn't have a choice. i am always over-excited for her solos and she serves them the best. other solos are usually meaningless (Lisa's solo was about money and self love and confidence and did not have any different vibe from blackpink's usual songs, jisoo's song was also just a random Kpop song and was not much different musically and lyrically just a breakup song similarly Jennie's solo was a breakup song and blackpink has had a ton of breakup songs alreadyy) and have absolutely no uniqueness from a musician's pov. rose deserves better!
Edit: Thanks for your replies. I absolutely get what you're talking about in them . But I just wanna give my own pov. I am someone that has a great respect for old musical styles and I also have been learning classical music from the past 8 years so I rarely resonate with the 'new' music that has now evolved because it's not music anymore (from my pov; no hate to anyone) and Rose's music has that musician sort-of feel to it and not only that her whole personality is based around that. And at the end of the day it's all about priorities and passion like jisso has towards acting, Lisa has towards dancing, jenni has towards modeling thats not bad but thinking the same for Rose ummmm it's hard to think anything beyond music (my pov) . Also, ngl I am kinda bored hearing about the same lyrics and topics in black-pink songs so much so that I find their existence meaningless. You might not agree with this and that's fine .Again no hate to anyone.

I mean I think Jennie and Rosé are musicians. The only difference is the experiences they write about. As Jennie has been in a relationship before, she likes to write about her love life and how it went. Rosé however, has not been said to have been in a relationship so she mainly talks about her childhood and social life. Now even though they both haven’t written that much, we do know Jennie has a book full of songs (said by Teddy) and Rosé makes as much time as she can to be about music

    • @Me-fm9zk
      @Me-fm9zk Год назад +36

Streaming is really nothing more than fanatics playing the same music in autoplay over and over again and doesn’t measure the popularity of the song. A song played by two fanatics 20 times each day will have 80 views in two days while a song played by 15 normal person twice each day will only have 60 views after two days.
So which one is more popular, a song viewed 60 times by 15 people, or a song that was viewed 80 times by only two fanatics?

Yes, streaming isn't winning but similarly there's a HUGE chunk of public that take party and club bops over deep emotional music any day.
A reason why BP's least popular songs are the most meaningful
It has less to do with streaming and more to do with public preference and taste.

Its just me but Rosé is the most "human" among BP for me. She's the most relatable like I can understand her struggles despite not knowing them all because I also go through the same struggles. I can feel her despite being on top and a superstar. Like she's the representation of me, a human who goes through a journey to find that missing piece.
Her song OTG was the perfect sldebut song because it was her self- introduction not as an "idol", "musician", or "artist". But it was her telling us "This is me, Rosé/Roseanne/Chaeyoung Park, the me in my journey to being thee BP Rosé and the idol Rosé." It was full of life, lessons and value.
While Gone was the perfect counterpart because it was what I call as the appetizer to the full course meal that is to be served by thee Rosé Park.
Out of the BP debuts, it was Rosé's solo debut that was comprehensive for me. It was well-thought out. The contrasting songs told a story. The album cover told a story. The MV told a story. -R- was definitely for the art and not for the charts. And I felt Rosé's sstisfaction to it. The achievements were just a bonus.

Most people didn't get the meaning of the song when it came out...and even now there are still many who don't get it. It's a very profound song with plenty of metaphors...even the music video has a lot of clued about the meaning of the song.
Rosé is in the sky, in the clouds "high" but she is standing on a stair that says "Roses are fake, love is dead" because once you reach success at that level you dont really know who your real friends are...and love can be very transactional in the Kpop industry

It will never happen under YG. They market BP to be self-inserts, and knowing too much about the person behind the celebrity that is idolized just doesn't allow for it, unfortunately. I know it's something that Rosé isn't happy with.... her goal wasn't to be an idol, it was to have a career in music, but now the whole creative process or music, the way she uses her voice, and her enjoyment of it has been taken away.

Her voice sounds like angels in heaven, the softness and also meaningful tones makes me feel so full of joy, and unbearable joy, and I can't handle... It's so intense and beautiful, I start to cry immediately... And when I saw the documentary, I understood the meaning of On The Ground so intensily I cried the whole movie... Rosé is more than k-pop, she's the sweet breeze we all need in the end of a hard day, to realize if we want be succesful, we must to move on. No matter what, when or how, we must to move on. thank you for making such video cause people tend to criticize her for being different from BP but that's actually brave and so interesting and the outcome is absolutely spectacular. the most important thing in a song for me is lyrics. I need to feel them and they need to tell a story. art is about expressing human emotions and she did it very well. in addition to what you said about the lyrics, the video is full of meaning, especially the bridge part where the kpop star Rosé is looking at young Roseanne with nostalgia. naive and young Roseanne dreamed so big, thinking that is happiness, she writes "Rosé" on the mirror with dreamy eyes. she wanted to be what she is now so much but then she disappears and the scene gets darker and the mirror goes from "Rosé" to "Roseanne?". she misses herself and she lost herself in the process and she regrets every single minute she's without her. your happiness and fulfilment is already inside of you

I’m sure she has no regrets getting out of New Zealand, it’s a nice place for your childhood but my friends there get bored, not much goes on there. If only the idol system weren’t so grueling - Blackpink could be in a much better position right now with the resources they have, YG just sucks at managing and treating artists as humans. I am rooting for Rose. It breaks my heart never to see her potential fulfilled when I heard her sing her own song in that Blackpink documentary. She is an indie girl trapped in the emptiest of empty shells that is kpop.

I literally just thought this a few days ago! I was reflecting about BLACKPINK’s latest songs and I thought about on the ground, and listened to it. And everytime I listen to it it still hits hard, even though I’m at a different stage in my life.

If only rosé didn't debut she would have been a talented musician who got famous for her covers and she would be herself, the girl who loves music as a art not as a business or fame. And yes regret is the worst feeling as time never comes back.

Tbh, Rosé deserves much more than Blackpink. Imagine leaving ur house at 15 to pursue music only to get in a company that gives ur group comeback once every 2 years. I feel like YG holds Rosé from showing off her real talent. I hope she gets out of YG and pursue solo career

I also literally EVERYTHING you need to reach your goal, to be grateful and to be happy is “on the ground” like you have it from the start. You don’t need the money or the fame or you don’t need any material worth. When you’re at the first stage (on the ground) you have everything that you’ll need like yourself and everything that comes with it. That is how I always have interpret it

I'm not sure you know it, but during her solo promotion she has done interview with Zane Lowe. Majority of interview on RUclips is edited, but basically there was a part where Rosé said that she got a call from YGE in middle of night, saying that release of OTG is approved. She just said she started crying after that. I think that speaks a volume.
I think this video really had a great analysis of this song btw:

He wanted to become a kpop idol. He sacrificed his first love. Hope now Sunghoon isn't regretting of becoming an idol.

i honestly beilieve that rosie don,t sing for hype or money or popularity
Every single rosie solo is very meaningful and not just randomly written rosie loves music and apperciate it when she picked an activity for her promotions it was just about singing with instruments (sea of hope) the reason why rosie is really underrated is that she is not looking for the music that would trend or be a pop she just wants to show a message through it even if there is less people watching her solos those who understands the meaning will enjoy the most
they will take the message understand it and maybe even use it as a help in thier lifes
rosie explained what her solo means and it is actuallly a pretty good message
rosie is why i stan blackpink right now and i will forever

Thank you for sharing your input! OTG is also actually one of my fave songs in their discography...EVER. Just when I was drifting away from the fandom of the group starting 2020 (mainly because of their new releases not having enough deep meaning and repetitive rhythms), her solo got my attention. It's a really great motivational song.
But just to add, I saw them perform live recently and I realized how they're all basically skilled in different aspects, not just meaningful song writing (which probably ofc the company has to have a say to it). Their passion for performing, rapping, dancing, singing, and making their fans happy through their authentic selves are charms that makes Blackpink, BLACKPINK. Each member has their forte and it's always up to them whether they'll pursue it or not. This realization made me a BLINK again and I'll always support their endeavors (as long as it's ethical ofc). A meaningful songwriting is a plus, as long as they showcase the skills they want to showcase, they'll always be an OT4.
