One thing to keep in mind also is where you are measuring from. The walls may not be exactly plumb and square. You are also measuring from different points for each instrument.
Excellent video. I'm in the process of choosing a platform for my real estate visual tour photography. Having so much control of the project is a good thing. IGuide is the right fit for me.
Good information. Thank you! I saw an ad for iguide yesterday but after seeing the information provided in this video, I've decided to stick with matterport.
All measurement's are going to be approximated for this type of work, as long as they are not deliberately mis-leading. Atmospheric anomolies come into play when using scanning techniques, even tape measures increase / reduce in size due to thermal transfer. It might be worth employing at least two sets of measurements when making claims to floor plans. I've been on site with buiders and no two tape measures are the same. The only people who get it spot on are carpenters especially when fitting baseboards / skirting and door trims etc. Although they do ocassionally get it wrong, just ask any painter and decorator who's had to come behind them and Caulk up their work. Just starting out with the virtual tours, and have been trolling the internet for knowledge and info on these things, so many thanks for your videos. There's no substitue for experience and I appreciate your sharing it.
Matterport's latest update lets you get a floorplan for $19 ! Great info Mike , been thinking to get I guide as i have some clients that are asking about it.
Hey Mike. Great content! Could you please estimate the time it would take you to photograph a typical 2300 sq ft ranch with no basement with iguide? Also, how much time in post. Thank you!
Thank you for the deep explanation., One question, have you ever had need to use lights, hidden away, of course, but, for instance, if you were in the room that you were discussing in, would you hide a light around the corner to illuminate? Great job. subbed.
First, I always watch your videos to gain expert knowledge. I have a few questions: The height it has been suggested to use 58" at the cameras lens for height - your thoughts Do you shoot in HDR or single image .. my question in relation to window pulls. Do you find the colors are off especially when viewing in stitch. To me the viewer looks pretty bad. Your thoughts would be apprecited.
I think the height sometimes depends on the environment. If ceilings are low then you don’t want it to be too high up. I’m not super exact with the height m. HDR is my recommendation. I do agree it’s hard to judge the look of things through stitch. That said, with multiple light sources colors are bound to look off sometimes.
Nice video! I just want to note that in the laser measuring device, at 7:03 , you used the wrong mode (check the icon at the top left of the screen), measuring from the top, not from the bottom where the wall is located. You need to add the height of your device (maybe 5 inches?) to the measurements that you took. That should reduce the difference to the iGuide measurements.
Awesome video. Thank you so much for making such an in-depth review. I’m a painting contractor seeking some good tech for estimating purposes. Will this be effective if there is stuff in the home? Or does it need to be completely empty?
Amazing video! Very helpful! Do you know if one of them allow us to zoom in in the picture to see potential defects in the room without loosing too much of the quality?
Mike, I was wondering, are you able to remove the Ricoh Theta Z1 camera from your iGuide setup and use it for Matterport as well? I'm wondering if I can buy just 1 camera to use for both systems. Also, have you had any updated experience using HDR on the Ricoh for iGuide?
Super valuable informative Mike! These details are on point and its exciting to see the new tech in play at a typical type of home you would shoot. Curious to see how the iGuide team continues to evolve their service offerings and price points.
Sir thank you good video first of all Great job!!! i use theta z1 with matterport site plan. But Matterport doesn't have a function to remove the mirror. I want to know how to erase the camera reflected in the mirror.
Are you able to use the 2d photos that iguide generates or do you have to do regular photos with a dslr after the scanning is complete? I'm hoping to find a system that can give me fairly nice 2d photos without having to hire a stills photographer while I'm doing the scanning.
I just can't wrap my head around the pricing model. Most houses I shoot are 2,500' - 4,000'. iGuide would be exorbitantly expensive. Even with the subscription model, Matterport is far, far, far cheaper. I use the Theta and my scans are rapid. I did a 10,000' house in 45 minutes this week. And 1-click submit makes it super simple.
I have iGuide and wish I went with Matterport. iGuide boasts they aren't a subscription platform, but even with Matterport's Pro plan at $130USD or whatever it is, is substantially cheaper than the bill I got for $350 for a condominium, two ranchers, and a single family house. Matterport, you can print a floor plan for $20. If you plan on shooting more than 3 houses a month then obviously go for Matterport. iGuide only makes sense if you are a real estate brokerage or an agent, and want to buy the camera yourself. Honestly, I cannot simply see how a photographer could make a living doing iGuide's. Everyone complains about the subscriptions from Matterport...do the math. Wow.
I'm surprised CubiCasa was so close. If it's only off by a few inches, that should be close enough. If it was off by a foot or more, than it wouldn't be worth it.
Why many people say iguide subs more cheaper than matterport, when we talk about big project like 9000ft i think matterport will cost lower. coreect me if i’m weong
Well done. Thanks for bringing to our attention! FYI - I use the Ricoh Theta Z1 and Matterport generated a floor plan for $19.95.
Oh really? Good to know!

You make the most informative videos ever. The best! Thank you!
Matterport's latest update lets you get a floorplan for $19 ! Great info Mike , been thinking to get I guide as i have some clients that are asking about it.
Someone else mentioned that as well. Great news!
Hey Mike. Great content! Could you please estimate the time it would take you to photograph a typical 2300 sq ft ranch with no basement with iguide? Also, how much time in post. Thank you!
Great video but its a few years old. Is there a better As-Built measuring system that gives floor plans with wall & window, door measurements?
does planix export virtual tour to files like .xyz or .rcs or other lidar file format ? and if yes , which package support this
Thank you for the deep explanation., One question, have you ever had need to use lights, hidden away, of course, but, for instance, if you were in the room that you were discussing in, would you hide a light around the corner to illuminate? Great job. subbed.
Thanks! No, I have never used any lighting equipment for this type of thing.
I wonder how their newer models and costs plans square up 2 years later?

Yeah thanks! That was my mistake. I assumed it took that into account

Definitely effective with stuff in the home as well!
Great comparison, thank you!
Thank you; you are the Boss.
It would be interesting to see you compare Metareal to ignite, as it is another alternative.
Amazing video! Very helpful! Do you know if one of them allow us to zoom in in the picture to see potential defects in the room without loosing too much of the quality?
Thanks! I’m not sure about that

With i guide, we can make whitelabel reports, etc.. or not!?
Sir thank you good video first of all
Great job!!!

you can blur out the camera. That's what I do.

I definitely do stills separately as the quality is no where near as good as you can get with a proper stills camera and good editing.
Can you give some dataset (raw data) of planix pro?
Looks like 1 shot per photo. Can you use the z1 bracketing? I currently use 5 brackets and merge in post for my 360s.
Not with this system
@@InsideRealEstatePhotography actually just found out you can bracket. 3 different varieties of 3 brackets.
can you give me the sample data of iGuide?

how can i work for cubii casa floor plans
I'm expert in their editor tool
I'm surprised CubiCasa was so close. If it's only off by a few inches, that should be close enough. If it was off by a foot or more, than it wouldn't be worth it.
CubiCasa does a pretty good job! Impressive considering how it’s created

But what’s the VR tour look like? 🤷🏽
its the exact same as you'd see on the computer or phone, but you just load it into a VR headset.
@@nathanb2991 I meant quality. Great video. Really was. I was expecting a glimpse of the virtual walkthrough is all.
I didn’t try out VR, don’t have a headset!
@@InsideRealEstatePhotography my bad. I just meant the walkthrough. Not with headsets on. Just the plain old Matterport type.
@@_HMCB_ check out 2:00
Always informative vids ... but try sitting on your hands rather than using them for a metronome. It's distracting. Cheers
How do you like iguide so far?
It’s a good tool. I’ve been sticking with Matterport mostly though since that is what people want.
