- It is FM23 Rebuild time and this weekend we head to America to rebuild DC United.
D.C. United is a founding member of the MLS and currently finds themselves rock bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference (at the time of recording). So my goal is to replace their existing English manager (Wayne Rooney) and take them back to the top!

I have always made content throughout my professional career, however, it has always been for someone else. In May 2020 I decided that it was time to create something for myself. Football Manager has always been a game that I have loved so wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the tips and tricks that I've learnt!

For the people, General Allocation Money ( GAM ) is real money, but it’s money that the league gives you or that you can exchange. Transfers between two MLS teams uses GAM but it’s not like fake monopoly money, they’re actual dollars. Also there is a certain amount of gam you can convert for transfers outside of MLS and it caps at a million. You can also use GAM to reduce the salary cap of some players.
Designated players are basically players you can pay anything you want, becauze MLS has a salary cap.
Pinning this as the top comment as I feel this information will really help explain things that I didn’t!
Also there is TAM but that’s not really relevant to now.
You have homegrown spots, international spots and designated player spots.
Something I don’t think steve mentioned is you can trade for international sports or designated player spots with General Allocation Money.
So if Steve had wanted he could’ve spent his 1.2 millions in GAM for another designated player spot via a trade and then try to better the team this way.
Overall lots of rules, kind of complicated
I wasn’t aware I could have got another DP spot. I knew I could get additional international spots, but the DP would have been much more useful!
@@HoodGamingUK I know you could at some point at least, MLS rules are complicated and they change pretty often sadly. The league is often criticized for that. A popular opinion is they should let club have more decision power over their own money to make the league better
Love the MLS save as i’m from the states. It feels like an entirely new game on FM with the rules and the playoffs. Also very happy to see my local team Philadelphia do well after our heartbreaker this year!

Fountas is criminally underrated in FM this year. Has yet to play a full season with DC but in the short time he was here he was one of the elites in the league in chance creation and goal contributions, even made it to the All Star team. Wild that he's so average in FM.
Lifelong DC fan here. The strongest team in the Eastern Conference these days, above Atlanta and even NYCFC, is Philadelphia Union. If you can get DC to dominate Philly for a few years in a row, including outselling their academy, then you've really done something special.
I loved the video but as a NY Redbull fan gotta let you know RedBulls vs DC is the same as United vs Liverpool we hate each other so the fact that it made us beat you guys for that Open Cup makes me happy haha. Also I’m happy the Ai think we are gonna win some trophies in the next few years haha
Great rebuild as always. 👍🏻 The Loki tactic really deserves more attention, I personally think it's even GYR's best tactic for FM23 so far. Absolutely dominant in possession, very stable in defence, great football to look at and scored a lot of goals.

Rebuild idea: what do you think about rebuilding a Scandinavian side? Maybe Vålerenga Oslo? The Norwegian league seems to be on the up, so who knows where you could lead them within 5 years, especially with a location like Oslo
You mentioned about giving new leagues a try - I have an idea for you:
Try doing a Pentagon Challenge like this? It'd be a longer one but interesting to see if it is possible within, say, 10 seasons?
Having done a Pentagon challenge before, there is no shot you’d be able to get it done properly in 10 seasons
Yo Hood it is Murph's favourite welshy here if you want some Geographical location that are a bit snazzy could do countries/teams like Gibraltar, Vaduz (Swiss league), Bolivia and lastly Ukraine

When you are rebuilding a team abroad like Beershoot and DC United you have to change currency. You cant use pound.
Please do a rebuild on a South African team, Kaizer Chiefs, its one of the biggest in South Africa and Africa , but recently they haven't been lucky in terms of silverware and they are the only team in South Africa's big three that has never won the African Champion's League

@@HoodGamingUK please do Millonarios, they’re a Colombian team with lots of history and titles, but they don’t have a very good present, they’ve only won the league 2 times since the 2000’s and they’ve never won an international title, it’d be cool if you rebuild them to make then win a Libertadores.

@@HoodGamingUK just checked it out and and I found an Anderlecht rebuild in the fm22 group if I'm not mistaken.. play in the same club colors but it is not the same club 😅 Anderlecht is a Brussels club, Beerschot an Antwerp one
DC's current squad at the end of 2022 is embarrassingly far away from being able to compete with the mid tier of the league, let alone the elites. In all likelihood we are several years away from being relevant in the league again, and that's presuming competent leadership on the sidelines and front office as well as adequate support from ownership. #KasperOut

I have tried to rebuild them but their quality of players in the game is really mid and they are all really old. they do have one really hot prospect in miguel monsalve who is said to maybe become a player like valderrama due to his playmaking ability. really good player. and if you could bring back their glory it would be great (a week a go they lost the colombian league title in the final)
