    I've used infrareds for many many years I just got the same heater but with a blue flame, I got it with a thermostat but actually like them better without thermostats especially with an infrared it takes a minute to glow red at least with a blue flame it turns on and off with the same size flame, The infrareds I used in the past just turned on a certain amount of burners and stayed on all the time The blue flame with no thermostat has like a low medium high blue flame I think that's better than thermostats

      Thanks for the information about "blue flame" heaters. I really like the way this one is working right now, but the fan is ineffective and a waste of money. The radiant heat is perfect for my size of garage 😁👍

    Did you have any issues with a melting plastic smell? I don’t think it’s fuel lol. Just finished installing mine and it’s stinking up the whole garage. It’s not comfortable to be in there, let alone work out, which was my whole reason for getting it.
    And my bracket was really tight to the wall so it makes it difficult to turn the fan on and off. Looks like you easily got back there at the end of your vid, though.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  7 месяцев назад

      I did not have any plastic smell when I ran mine. That's very concerning. The fan switch is difficult to get to but I can manage to get my finger behind to turn it on/off. I hope the smell goes away!

      I would assume the non infrared heat version would benefit from a fan of some sort?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  7 месяцев назад

      @@fanoftheboxtoo after using it for a year, the fan is absolutely not necessary. It is nice to have a box fan on the opposite side of the garage to circulate the air, which would give the same effect for any heater in any room.

    • @jake24680
      @jake24680 7 месяцев назад

      @fanoftheboxtoo yes. Because the blue flame version actually throws heat out into the room, a fan would increase the heat flow. The infrared version only heats the objects in the room. It does not necessarily "throw heat."

    does the thermostac turn it off and on?

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  3 месяца назад

      The black knob on top has settings 1-5, and it will turn the heat on and off when it reaches a temperature complimentary to that setting. There isn't a traditional thermostat with a desired temperature setting. You can, however experiment with which setting will give you the desired amount of heat and as I did, learn where to set it in regards to how cold the room temperature is. Hope this helps 🤠👍

      Yes, I am still very satisfied with the heater, but I still do not recommend getting the fan. If you want to circulate the air, just use a box fan. My garage is approximately 34'x23' and even on a day in the low teens (F°) I can bring it up to a comfortable 50° in about an hour. I should also mention my garage is insulated and attached to the house 🤠👍
