I did do one "free-for-all" game, but it quickly devolved into a USA victory. It's impossible for any one nation to compete against the USA, and teaming up defeats the purpose of a free for all. We also did a 3-sided game, with two per side. USA and the Caliphate, USSR and PC, and Europe and China. That was interesting...
Yeah, as I always tell people - the cost may seem high, but when you break it down into a "cost per use per hour per person", and it is pretty economical! But, I understand, for sure.
Yes, that initial purchase can be daunting, but for the many, many hours of fun, with lots of friends, makes it worth it! Cheaper than most other hobbies, to be honest...
Maybe nukes need a rule adjustment other than losing victory points. Maybe a defcon scale that authorizes them? The 1985 game which isn't out yet has something like that I think.
@@typektypowy yes I’m waiting until this it comes with an updated color rulebook and then I’m purchasing it. I heard it will be done let this year too.
Hiltop i tink you misunderstood the rules go to 10.1 and you will see that on top of the production value of the teritory you can place infantry up to the IPC value of it
Yes, you are correct on that. In the initial rules, we had made it so that you could place infantry in zones with NO green production, up to the value of the territory. I guess there was a late change to include ANY territory. Thanks for the catch!
I just got it yesterday and set it up. Haven't started but by studying the opening setup I'm guessing it's worth it. Especially if you like axis and allies but want a more modern or what I would call relevant twist.
One question - how did you get the US fleet to exit the red sea and attack the Caliphate frigate? The US fleet for centcom starts in the Red Sea, the current map along with the one in your video shows a straight. Similar to your comment about the straight in the South China Sea, the US fleet (except submarine,) is trapped until the Western Alliance can take one of the two Caliphate states. If Israel falls that fleet makes things more complicated for that fleet....or on the positive it can be the base to operate in that area while it's trapped.
The map is probably not worth switching. The new map has south korea at one on both spaces. It would be cool to develop alternate maps for different scenarios or more complex maps however.
Typically, the West seems to have an easier time of it. Early on, the East dominates, but once the West inevitably gains control of the seas, it can be difficult for the East to triumph.
Someday I’ll get this game. I really want it. Is the revised printed rulebook out for this yet? Do the roundels you have come with it? It looks so cool. Thanks for explaining it in detail.
Hey Hilltop, great video I enjoyed it. I was just curious if the two rounds of combat in NATO territories only applied when NATO was in control or not? Because you said that the West was limited to 2 round in Germany when the Ruskies owned it.
The rulebook states "All attacks against Western Alliance units UNITS in NATO Faction territories are limited to two rounds instead of three." I take that as if NATO is attacking to take back NATO territories it can go three rounds as they are the one's doing the attacking. I take this as a strictly defensive ability which going on the offense wouldn't apply.
Yeah, that one is open to some semantic interpretation, as it doesn't follow up with "NATO attacks to reclaim original NATO territory may use three rounds of combat." I think there might be a revision in the new rules. We like to play it two rounds either way, or else it really hampers the East a bit too much, and they are already under the gun, in our opinion.
@@TheHilltopPillbox Obviously anybody can house rule anything, and I am not here to disparage house rules. However, can you please explain to me how it is open to semantic interpretation? Here is the original quote "(A)ll attacks against Western Alliance units in NATO Faction territories are limited to two rounds instead of three." The attacks have to be against "Western Alliance units", the Ruskies are not in the Western alliance, therefore the two round rule clearly doesn't apply.
@@TheHilltopPillbox Hey, I have no problem with how you want to do things. I just have a problem if you piss on me and tell me it is raining. AKA the rule clearly says only Western Alliance units get the two round "bonus" on NATO spaces. We are in agreement, correct?
I would love to see a game of this where everyone is at war with everyone.I think it would be interesting.

@TheHilltopPillbox Makes sense.
Now if HBG would get this back on stock

I looked this morning to see if he had posted and then I just looked again and now I am really happy.
More on the way tomorrow...I hope!

It's a good one!
Mine just came in the mail today. Haven't even set it up yet.
Have fun with it!

some time back in april there wehere proposed rule changes on the oficial 2025 facebook page

Good catch. I guess I missed that. The air units can attack it, but not the naval. Whoops...
Do you know whenever the game will come back in stock?
Sorry, that's a business decision...hopefully soon!
You can sign up for "in-stock" notifications. I just did. I'm seriously hoping for a re-release with updated rules.
Hey Hilltop, how would the frigates @12:17 had taken shots at the subs without ending up in the same sea zone?
Yeah, that was a "whoops" moment. I blame lack of sleep. Good catch!
