Seeing the AMD guy get super excited over their hardware is a good sign..that means they are passionate about their work..something I feel Nvidia really isn't anymore. They are more passionate about cars and deep learning than GPUs.
Actually Nvidia is trying to move away from gamers and the whole PC market. The biggest chunk of Nvidia's profit is coming from PC and GPUs. However this is a declining market, and they are trying to diversify their earnings. So they are into deep learning and server stuff.
Imasundaj its declining because like 80% of steam users have a 970(if i remember from the steam hardware survey) and dont need to upgrade anytime soon btw. not cause gaming is dying or anything like that.
He mentioned on the WAN show that that chip was a dead one, and that's the only reason they let him hold it. He also dropped it by the way, but it happened off-camera.
i feel like people forget that nvidia used to be in AMD's seat back in the day, i remember when they nearly went bankrupt developing a GPU that failed horribly compared to it's -AMD- *_ATI_* equivalent.
yeah, im hoping to pair a Vega with a Ryzen... would make sense that they will be compatable and STABLE... which is something many systems lack these days.. specially with buggy arse windows and super buggy arse directX.....
Look, if the battery DIDN'T die, and they had to cut to not reveal technical details, they could simply have edited that out instead of trying to "cover it up", put your tinfoil hats back on boys.
alex esteves The main thing is that it's already competitive with the Titan XP, a 10 frame difference at that resolution is (granted) computationally huge, but if AMD can keep the price around the 1k mark (remember, XP goes for ~1.2k), then they've trashed the Titan.
Yeah, let's just hope that AMD make a brilliant move by aiming at 900 bucks to show Nvidia who rules :) (Im a Nvidia 1070 owner but if nvidsia keeps being on top with no oponents, they keep the prices high)
Not sure that makes a difference. Radeon and GeForce have been very competitive for years now, but it hasn't stopped Nvidia gaining ever more market share. I'm more interested in AMD's upcoming CPU offerings, because it seems to me that's where the real gains in competition are to be made.
Robert Faber Very competitive? Are you kidding me? Ever since Keppler AMD has been lagging behind. You know why the cost of 80 series cards jumped up a shit ton in the last few generations? Because Nvidia has 0 competition. Literally every single GPU series card released in the Pascal series is more expensive than its Maxwell equivalent. Because capitalism. Because Nvidia has 0 competition in most markets. Up until Polaris, AMD only has 19 percent desktop GPU market share
+LinusMLGTips - Yes, there have been price increases across the board on GeForce cards in the past few generations (as well as before that, but that's beside the point), but equally there has been inflation in that time, and there have been very significant performance increases; two issues that together more than justify that price increase. Also, let us not forget that the very fact that Nvidia has such high market share means they are almost legally obliged to increase prices to reduce growth in sales and stop their market share from increasing even further and going into anti-trust territory. Odd though it may seem, getting even more market share than they currently do would actually be tremendously damaging to Nvidia.
Not really they haven't. IIRC after 290 series it took them a long time to come out with a new series which was basically just a modified version of 290. AMD has dropped the ball multiple times. They've come out with tech to compete with nvidia's (gsync, shadowplay etc.) only to have it not be as good.
I do understand that, but if it's cheaper then I'll go for that, and even though intel might offer better performance, the difference might not be that much and right now I got a shitty PC I can't even do anything on, so I'd just get what I need, cheap and good quality parts is what I'm currently looking for.
Makes me laugh when Gtx owners brag about doing 60fps at 4k on their 1080 when they fail to mention that their MASSIVELY OVERCLOCKED passed 2000Mhz (thats over 10.2 Tflops) and compare to an Under-clocked Engineering sample GPU with duct tape on it/monitoring devices etc etc showing basic 4k60fps performance to the public, funny thing is its still faster with its arms tied behind its back.
Obvioously its going to be faster when its almost a year newer by the time it comes out, and youre acting like the 2000+mhz overclocks are doubling the 1080s base performance
linus is important because of us, the corporate knew who their targets are us, he found linus is the perfect choice to be the mediator. Linus should thank to us.
+diazzsama So much entitled. Linus worked for years to obtain his large audience.. he surely doesn't have to thank anybody. Expecially people who just watch free videos for entertainment.
Tech Inc. he is senior vp at raedon technologies group he started in amd the moved to apple along with jim keller the man behind athlon64 and zen . that is why apple products are so efficient and despite being actually weaker specwise kickass
I'd bet the USB 3 port is for real-time debugging of the card by an external system. For the fellow embedded engineers out there, they attached a pickit to the board.
+dongmaster9001 Very common. It's called an in-circuit debugger and pretty much every engineering prototype/developer board has had one since ever. For example some old Intel x86 processors (like the 80386) have a special instruction (ICEBP) for signalling them. This was in the 80s, so definitely nothing new.
AMD Users : *Laugh with spare money for games* Even tho the new Nvidia GPU's are kind of low price compared to the other years 1-this is a AMD review 2-Nvidia Fanboy 3-AMD is back, deal with it
We're not quite at a full competition between AMD and Nvidia. Both have pros and cons. A side note to on why AMD is behind them is that they're working in multiple fields. GPUs, CPUs, storage, perifs, server solutions. So they tend to stay a step behind their competition with a much more narrow perspective.
Its funny because that recent videos from JayzTwoCents, HardwareUnboxed, Bitwit, etc and also Linus all heaviliy implies that they did have and probably already done a vega/ryzen hardware but under heavy NDA.
The editing on these CES videos is AMAZING! Lest time there was like 3 minutes of black after the video. and this one ends cutting of Linus before he finished the sentence
I read about them on wiki, they should be the counterpart of the human male. I never thought that I should see one captured on a tape. It could be fake though..
+robert linke No, it couldn't. It monitors power consumption. This is good for the engineers because it means they can see how the different loads affect the GPU, and whether it lines up with expectations. If it doesn't, they'll tinker with it and find out why. It's useless for game devs.
Definite buy for me! Just need to stretch my R9 290 and 7970 cards out for a few more months. The crazy thing about those cards is just how viable they still are with today's latest games. The Radeon 7970 is 5 year old hardware and a single GPU can run The Division at 5790x1080 (Eyefinity) at High settings with the latest drivers. Compare with NV hardware from the same time period.
yeah it really is incredible how well the 7970 is holding out. Those beasts were well ahead of their time (28 nm jump) but simply hindered by the struggling AMD software engineers. Vega will likely be well ahead of its time as well running HBM2 (or very fast G5X). Hopefully AMD get their optimization down day 1. nVidia cards always dominate early on because they are very good with optimizing their drivers quickly. If they lose on the software end its gg. 1080 Ti will be their only guy left standing lol.
YES AMD ACTUALLY DID IT! I LOVE YOU! Seriously I've been an nvidia fanboy for years now not because I hate amd but because they've been disappointing lately. Finally amd has came back. We all know the pricing is going to be amazing as it always is with amd. The only concern was performance of which we now know is rock solid. Congratulations AMD you are going to get my money when I build my new PC this year.
Actually on second thought they were achieving those fps with vulkan. Now that I think about it they probably won't quite hit 60fps without DX12 and vulkan which as of now most games don't use. I'm sure their performance will still be great it just depends on pricing really.
WalkandPeace Well I got into PC gaming in mid 2012. Right now amd is definitely not better than intel in terms of performance for cpus and for gpus only in certain situations are they better than nvidia. That's why I'm hoping things change with ryzen and vega.
+WalkandPeace You do know that Ryzen and AMD's cards are reasonably priced, and I know the 1080 is ridiculously fast and so is the Titan, but take a look at the Radeon Pro Duo. It cost $500 less than the insanely priced Titan and almost the same as the 1080. You literally only mentioned Gameworks titles, which uses Nvidia technology. Without Vulkan or Gameworks, they perform very similarly, but the Pro Duo stays cooler due to the liquid cooling.
The guy is pretty high up at AMD. If he feels it's okay to talk about something, he can talk about it. The much more reasonable assumption is that LTT fucked up.
The battery actually died? I love you guys. LTT living dangerously as always. I'm actually enjoying the CES coverage, never enjoyed tech expos before. Good job all!
Tristhal That's highly unlikely, due to the inherent power and thermal inefficiency at high clock speeds, but what's more likely massive IPC gains as big as the ones featured here: www.anandtech.com/show/1517/14
i like the way that this engineering samples have a clean look without any RGB and "shields" or "armors". the motherboard and RAM are almost PCB only. Makes me remember the way that computers were 10-15 years ago, without any cosmetic purpose only thing attached to it. (Sorry for any english mistakes) The Wrath cooler also looks pretty good.
How not to love this AMD worker...he is not there just for the money...he is very excited for the product and he really likes what he is working on :) He was just like to fly of excitement!
alex s. Never said that :P Both AMD and Nvidia fanboys still dont notice how both companies lie about their products or use misleading ways to test them on presentations, its kind of sad really. Waiting for independent benchmarks is a must for me.
No the Titan XP is still much faster in Doom 4k with these exact same settings. The frame rate is mostly at around 80 - 100+ FPS. With Overclock its even higher. My Titan XP is overclocked to 2070Mhz but I dont have Doom, otherwise I would test it right now.
1080 right now getting me 72fps average, and doesn't sip below 60. Also this is running Vulcan which favors amd, soo. It's basically same performance as a 1080, which is able to max a lot of games 4k at 60 fps
MrRednexus get the 1070, lemme juss explain why, amd vega will come out in six months, this means that nvidia is probs going to start working on NEW gpus right now, meaning that by the time the amd vega comes out the Gtx 1180 or 1280 will be out sooner or later, so u should prob buy the 1070
I love how you're so informed and catch people off guard knowing exactly what they're doing with that gaff tape by hiding the extra power support he claims is just a monitoring device.
4:35 No, it's called profiling Linus! Console developers use that all the time. It's for better optimisation of the code. Devs can see the resources and power that a particular game is using and make changes, workarounds, better execution of the code. AMD is bringing console optimisations to the PC world and all you talk about is PCIe power over-draw which was easily fixed by a driver update.
Thanks for this. ever since the the first pictures and videos started coming out I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what that port was for.
I have been waiting for a cpu and gpu upgrade since I'm still on a i5 760 and gts 450. Time to upgrade when ryzen and Vega launch since amd has been on their driver game and Nvidia has such shitty drivers updates which caused me to get 10fps less on overwatch
Whatever floats your boat. Get a 1070 incase if you want to SLI in future. 1060 isnt SLI compatible. If you're not looking for SLI at all, go 1060 its a good card for the price, its equivalent to a 980
So a GTX 1080 runs DOOM at 4k at exactly the same frame-rate, and on Nightmare settings, not Ultra, what exactly are we supposed to be impressed at here? Unless the price is way lower than the 1080 then yeah, impressive AMD, otherwise same performance as what the competitor has been offering since summer 2016. I hope DX11 performance is solid too, AMD's been slacking on that front for too long and it's still the most relevant API for games, whether we like it or not.
Sholva exactly what I was thinking. I have a 1070 and it never goes below 60fps at 4k. with nightmare settings. So unless whatever was in there will be like 300$ or less there's nothing too Impressive
Walter White huh, except that it was a unpolished engineering sample without proper drivers and running with a Ryzen CPU, which are known to be slightly inferior to Intel's in gaming and was an engineering sample as well..
Huh. Except my point was if whatever card they have in here is more than 300$ it won't be very competitive. I am sure they are going to have drivers that work right for their display samples lmao. And the CPU isn't the focus it is the GPU. Also they would make their engineering sample work as good as possible if not better than what they would release to the public to show it off.
Well a month ago when I was planning on building a PC for this year i was thinking intel and nvidia but now if all this stuff goes well its probably going to be an AMD machine. Things are looking good and I'm excited to hear more.
Why? That is what happens with PC hardware. There is always hardware being released that is better than the last. The 6600k and 1070 will be great for now unless you are playing on 4k.
i bought a 6700k and a 1070 last year too, i wouldn't be worried about it too much. there is always going to be a new "big thing" coming out every year.
ForeverGAMING I'm just pointing out obvious discrepancies. I would love to see Vega destroy the titanX/1080ti but 6/8 gb g-ram that we seen so far won't be coming even close to it. But perhaps you're just one of those people who rather vote for "alternative facts" than seeing things for what they really are. ;)
Linus .. You're not an Engineer, and I dont even think you know how to code in a single language. You're just a hardware analyst. You have knowledge over hardware. But what type of journalism was that? Trying to be condescending with questions? He explained it was a debugger. Something you would probably never use and you bring up criticism over past products? Useless question didn't benefit anything for us.. the viewers.
That actually is super cool. The connection being able to draw all the data ever needed, dynamically. This is how they do it. It makes so much sense why there are day one patches for drivers. Thats the consumer while the teams were working on hardware level through a usb not their driver software.
I fully support AMD, not a fanboy but I wish them the best and I hope to see something cool from them in 2017, Nvidia needs some quality competition again.
spot on.. i spent a lot on my build intel 6900k/nvidia 1080. But i'd love to see amd come back and I'd happily do a second build when the new stuff is established.
Really rooting for AMD man, gonna be building my first computer here in about 7-8 months, hopefully by then everything will be out and plenty of benchmarks will be out so I can make a decision between AMD and Nvidia
Seeing the AMD guy get super excited over their hardware is a good sign..that means they are passionate about their work..something I feel Nvidia really isn't anymore. They are more passionate about cars and deep learning than GPUs.
yes... getting paid to be hyped for an upcoming product is a good sign... it has nothing to do with it being their jobs to sell the product
You can tell if someone is paid or not. This guy was acting genuine.
Actually Nvidia is trying to move away from gamers and the whole PC market. The biggest chunk of Nvidia's profit is coming from PC and GPUs. However this is a declining market, and they are trying to diversify their earnings. So they are into deep learning and server stuff.
I can agree to that. They aren't very enthusiastic in the GPU market, their interests are found elsewhere.
Imasundaj its declining because like 80% of steam users have a 970(if i remember from the steam hardware survey) and dont need to upgrade anytime soon btw. not cause gaming is dying or anything like that.
Raja is such a cool guy I love seeing him get excited about stuff
Shawn Diaz Maybe he and Linus are totally the same in character Both breaks stuff
Shawn Diaz u. the savage
Shawn Diaz he is Indian
and?
I Z and?
You don't have to choke him with that mic linus
Sometimes Linus is so fucking socially awkward
+Alexander Reiss sometimes?
Silly comment. It only looks like this because of the 3D world we're living in. Get it?
LMAO! keeps moving it slowly closer hahaa never noticed
Linus = Nardwaur confirmed
this guy from AMD is really cool
Raja, the dropper of brand new GPU's.
linus put the chip in his pocket. STATIC! is this the first time linus killed something with clothing?
He mentioned on the WAN show that that chip was a dead one, and that's the only reason they let him hold it. He also dropped it by the way, but it happened off-camera.
Well, Jim (assuming you mean Jim Keller) is now gone, and working for Tesla now. But yes, Ryzen is his child.
Yup, I also love his great english accent (I guess he's Indian but his English is really good).
i feel like people forget that nvidia used to be in AMD's seat back in the day, i remember when they nearly went bankrupt developing a GPU that failed horribly compared to it's -AMD- *_ATI_* equivalent.
Maybe history will repeat itself. I for one can't wait to see AMD on top again.
ATI, it wasn't owned by AMD then.
Simon T Oh right, sorry, I'll correct that
Daddy haha lol nice
yeah, im hoping to pair a Vega with a Ryzen... would make sense that they will be compatable and STABLE... which is something many systems lack these days.. specially with buggy arse windows and super buggy arse directX.....
I do not believe that your battery died as soon as the guy got technical...
-Linus "When do you think we can expect to be able to buy this" Raja "Next month..I mean erm ugh, cut!".
Apparently it actually did, and they borrowed a spare from JayzTwoCents.
Thats a shit alibi. Asking a fellow tech youtuber to cover your ass is way too easy, and that doesn't mean much.
Look, if the battery DIDN'T die, and they had to cut to not reveal technical details, they could simply have edited that out instead of trying to "cover it up", put your tinfoil hats back on boys.
honestly, you expect me to believe that these guys dont travel with spare batteries and a battery charger?
A Vega GPU running DOOM, which has a prominent AI character called VEGA?
Clever.
Von ikr
Like the Microsoft and Cortona
"Cortona"
Props for not dropping anything this year. :P
This all sounds badass
Dloweification He said he dropped a keyboard.
Finn Jung And dropped a Vega chip.
We don't know for sure, the video was suddenly cut :P
Dloweification he dropped it, he said so on the wan show
did you see that samsung motinor? i think it shivered from fear when linus held it :D
Raja looks really down to earth kind of person. Thumbs up.
i love listening to the indian guy, Raja. he really sounds like he loves his job.
also looks like amd is concentrating on power usage.
Props to Raja.
solid 60 fps with a single gpu in 4k, thats amazing
alex esteves The main thing is that it's already competitive with the Titan XP, a 10 frame difference at that resolution is (granted) computationally huge, but if AMD can keep the price around the 1k mark (remember, XP goes for ~1.2k), then they've trashed the Titan.

Really dropped it when he dropped the GPU. But I really loved his enthusiasm
Moon Moon indeed. its rare to hear a guy who is genuinely enthusiastic and working in PR
Makes me happy to see AMDs first exposure of VEGA. Glad to see some competition for Nvidia.
Not sure that makes a difference. Radeon and GeForce have been very competitive for years now, but it hasn't stopped Nvidia gaining ever more market share. I'm more interested in AMD's upcoming CPU offerings, because it seems to me that's where the real gains in competition are to be made.

its cool that in a video sponsored by amd you still make the akward question about power eficiency!
don't forget complete cut off of Raj's speech lol
Eduardo Mora If ist was so they Just had Filmed it again instead of taking a Cut Off Scene...
and they come up with 350w Vega Frontier and 440w when we OC it.
if this is cheaper than gtx 1080 and i7 cpu, ill fucking get the amds then
same
Obito 4Life probably not going to be cheaper
Obito 4Life Well maybe it will be cheaper, but intel might have better performance.

AMD has always been cheaper then Intel
Why is Linus roasting people for dropping things?
lol true
why not?
legiaoday because Linus drops things 24/7
He said in the Wan show he dropped the Vega chip off camera
Does he ever NOT drop things?
AMD needs to survive.
They need to thrive.
Lol, look at them now
I'm from the future, they did!
AMD finally got performance right.
If this setup is cheaper than i7700k and Gtx 1080 then am going full AMD this year! xD
MultiVigarista same here
MultiVigarista AMDs new 8 core is pre-book compared to the 6900k as well
than its time to upgrade...
Deserted Cake From what we see yet about counterparts of Ryzen and Vega he possibly will. Fail sarcasm fanboy
Deserted Cake 8-core Ryzen was drawing 93W from the wall at full load... check your facts before you try to troll.
Linus got slapped in the face for asking dumb questions ... and then the battery "magically" died.
Exactly...
Cringe-worthy tbh
Probably not true, but still fun to think that's what happened.
They actually had a battery die. They ended up borrowing a spare from Jayztwocents
Jay is a good dude
cant really say if the battery thing was just to censor some shit we are not supposed to know or if it really happend...
I was thinking the same thing. Raja seems ambarassed to not being asked about the architechture.
...and the usb was clearly a diagnostic thing, so I dont know why he even asked that..poor raja, i really wanted to hear what he had to say about it
Right, because he certainly couldn't have just edited that out or something... The hell is wrong with you guys?
No, he seemed surprised, but happy.
ikr why cant we know about these stuff
Makes me laugh when Gtx owners brag about doing 60fps at 4k on their 1080 when they fail to mention that their MASSIVELY OVERCLOCKED passed 2000Mhz (thats over 10.2 Tflops) and compare to an Under-clocked Engineering sample GPU with duct tape on it/monitoring devices etc etc showing basic 4k60fps performance to the public, funny thing is its still faster with its arms tied behind its back.
You realize 2Ghz is like a 100-200mhz overclock for most 1080s right? MASSIVELY OVERCLOCKED would be like 2.2-2.3Ghz.
asdfghjk well even so the fps gain is marginal from that point maybe 2~4fps difference
But a 1080 is going to have been released nearly a year before that card...
Obvioously its going to be faster when its almost a year newer by the time it comes out, and youre acting like the 2000+mhz overclocks are doubling the 1080s base performance
Good to hear it will be more powerful later on, was concerned AMD wouldn't have anything to compete/beat the Titan XP with.
I didn't know that Linus was such an important guy...... the CEO himself came to talk to him on a product..
linus is important because of us, the corporate knew who their targets are us, he found linus is the perfect choice to be the mediator. Linus should thank to us.
+diazzsama
So much entitled.
Linus worked for years to obtain his large audience.. he surely doesn't have to thank anybody.
Expecially people who just watch free videos for entertainment.
raja is not the ceo of amd, Lisa Su is the CEO, Raja is senior Vice president of JUST the Radeon division
Tech Inc. he is senior vp at raedon technologies group he started in amd the moved to apple along with jim keller the man behind athlon64 and zen . that is why apple products are so efficient and despite being actually weaker specwise kickass
Tech Inc. raja is lile the king of gpu tech . he is a nerd and enthusiast himself . and so is jim keller
I'd bet the USB 3 port is for real-time debugging of the card by an external system. For the fellow embedded engineers out there, they attached a pickit to the board.
That's literally what the AMD Guy said, using that port they can monitor everything going in and out of the card
Is this a common thing or did someone at AMD come up with this?
Its pretty cool.
Arduino would probably be the most common example.
***** Thanks for the answer! The more i get into computer hardware, the more I regret not going to university and doing something in the field.
Looks like I'm waiting instead of buying a 1070
Good choice.
Fooo bought a 1070.
already bought one.... lol..... laughing my way to +100 fps
me neither
I bought a r9 fury instead of a 1070
Never clicked on a video so quick
Yes you have, but that was on gaybuttfucking.com

1-this is a AMD review
2-Nvidia Fanboy
3-AMD is back, deal with it
Considering i'm currently running a 480 CF, i'm not in any way an "Nvidia fanboy", i'm just saying that Nvidia still leads in terms of firepower,
We're not quite at a full competition between AMD and Nvidia. Both have pros and cons. A side note to on why AMD is behind them is that they're working in multiple fields. GPUs, CPUs, storage, perifs, server solutions. So they tend to stay a step behind their competition with a much more narrow perspective.
Nvidia lost the Linus to amd
Mario Almonte amd just paid him to be @ the red side
good. intel and nvidia are cunts
+Ikarus695 Like Nvidia and Intel.
Its funny because that recent videos from JayzTwoCents, HardwareUnboxed, Bitwit, etc and also Linus all heaviliy implies that they did have and probably already done a vega/ryzen hardware but under heavy NDA.
Most probably Zen, because vega is still far away
after watching this guys all videos I have become a gpu
can i plug you into my pc?
Can you run minecraft?
Walker998 why not bro I may run faster than a GTX 1080
Emerald Minecraft You will probably run slower than an Intel HD Graphics 3000.
EnhancedMatrix12 Ooh burn are you gonna take that Mr Emerald Minecraft.
I think Linus will open the side panel even if he was asked not to do so.
and then he'll drop the computer
or swap the card with an old card and then walk away.

AMD going into 2017 with guns blazing
When will they finally reveal all new Ryzen CPUs? I can't wait anymore! :D
Me too.
probably not at ces
This the last day of CES, as a reminder.
he already did a video at CES about the Ryzen. go to his channel and check it out. it was yesterday IIRC.
that did not have pricing and AMD's turbo thing on. So we want more information.
Did he say the usb 3 was only on engineering models and not on the final product?
Yes.
Jonty Norling yes it's only for the engineers internally to work on so they can see how the code they write will affect power consumption
I somehow assumed he also meant that developers can get that version of the card - e.g., to test, dunno, a new game engine / game code?
it could be handy for game designers and programmers
+robert linke
No, it couldn't. It monitors power consumption. This is good for the engineers because it means they can see how the different loads affect the GPU, and whether it lines up with expectations. If it doesn't, they'll tinker with it and find out why. It's useless for game devs.

Im calling bullshit :) i had trouble keeping up 60 FPS at Ultra with heavily OC 980 at 1080p, paired with I7 6700K 4.5GHZ...
yeah it really is incredible how well the 7970 is holding out.
Tomáš Svoboda I know I'm 2 months late, but wouldn't 2x 7970 > a single 980?
Battery dies:
"Oh No! That sucks"
Linus took some tips from CNN there.
Hide your your gpus guys it's the indian gpu killer
Peanut Skippy hey I'm Indian and take care of my GPU (I get that it's a joke)
I know I watch all of Linus videos
*innovator
Thats kinda mean
Ziggy Wiggy really? hahaha
I'm going to legitimately cry if AMD dare to push the prices like Intel and Nvidia.....
Battery died?! And you did not have a backup? Seriously LTT, step up your game. They PAID you and you failed miserably.
... the guy began talking about stuff he wasn't allowed to on camera
The guy is pretty high up at AMD. If he feels it's okay to talk about something, he can talk about it. The much more reasonable assumption is that LTT fucked up.
maybe they realized afterwards?
smirkingdevil nah man its just a gimmick, video editing gimmick trust me
It was classified information that later has been cut out later to avoid legal complications. That simple, smug smile.
The battery actually died? I love you guys. LTT living dangerously as always. I'm actually enjoying the CES coverage, never enjoyed tech expos before. Good job all!
this year AMD is like
f##k you Nvidia
f##k you Intel
tru
And i feel like alot of people are too cause im pretty sure if intel cared we would be at 10 ghz by now.
Tristhal That's highly unlikely, due to the inherent power and thermal inefficiency at high clock speeds, but what's more likely massive IPC gains as big as the ones featured here: www.anandtech.com/show/1517/14
So edgy
When Nvidia will relaese Volta will laugh at Amd Rofl!
4 GPUs, price and energy consumption! :O
Best video ending, cut when Linus wasn t done speaking...
Thank you for always being so clear about who your sponsors are.
i like the way that this engineering samples have a clean look without any RGB and "shields" or "armors". the motherboard and RAM are almost PCB only. Makes me remember the way that computers were 10-15 years ago, without any cosmetic purpose only thing attached to it.
(Sorry for any english mistakes)
The Wrath cooler also looks pretty good.
bcause today most PCs looks like a freakin Christmas tree
AMD cards do have a nice utilitarian look to them.
*I'm* *literally* *crying* 3:35 *I* *had* *forgotten* *that* *moment*
Linus Face
Did you guys also run out of battery on you laptop cutting the video together ? Ehe end seems a bit premature
Anti thats what your girlfriend says
Why is Anti's girlfriend telling you that you're premature?
Holy shit AMD is on a role this year! :D Super hyped
can't spell VEGA without EVGA
bashzer0 VEGA see no evga in there. only the letter v e g and a
bashzer0 also what do evga have to do with this
he just made a joke... let the guy alone
bad joke
*I* thought it was funny at least
How not to love this AMD worker...he is not there just for the money...he is very excited for the product and he really likes what he is working on :)
He was just like to fly of excitement!
got soo excited forgot to skip the ad
If your so good at dropping things Linus, maybe you can "drop" price point as well? eh eh?!? =)
Well, the cam batteries sure died inconspicuously
Hey, that's mildly adequate!
i get so excited when Raja is talking about GPU's, i need another interview!
I love that AMD GPU dropper guy
I thought it was cut because they were off script lol
Awesome. I love the rep's excitement about the development card's USB3 port. So cool that all the dev's can monitor perf! Innovation makes me happy.
Battery died.. okay Linus.. We know that's when you dropped Vega Kappa
to think I got a gtx1070 for 420€...FUUUUUCK
I can ease your pain - just send it to me.
I got one for 540€, so stop whining
Johan Ekstrom where? Couldnt you just buy one from amazon?
Black Helmets It was back in July though.
i doubt this card will be more powerful so enjoy it!
I haven't been this excited for a graphics card or CPU in a long time!! can't wait to see what they have for us!
I want one of those USB ports on my GPU
guys, it's doom. it's super optimized for amd. let's try bf1 first...
alex s. actually battlefield games are optimized for amd too
Ziggy Wiggy Its wrong for both, a neutral title would be better.
German Lehmann exactly, i'm not an amd or nVidia fanboy, it's just to be clear.
alex s. Never said that :P
Both AMD and Nvidia fanboys still dont notice how both companies lie about their products or use misleading ways to test them on presentations, its kind of sad really. Waiting for independent benchmarks is a must for me.
German Lehmann ahaha you're right it's an hot topic
This is the first time in over 10 years that I'm actually excited for, and considering going red for my next build. Good job AMD, keep on rocking.
so finally ultra 4k 60+ fps on single card?
ThePaypay88 no, it's just doom being a fantastic port
Isn't the titan xp on pretty much this level and the speculated gtx 1080 ti soon ?
No the Titan XP is still much faster in Doom 4k with these exact same settings. The frame rate is mostly at around 80 - 100+ FPS. With Overclock its even higher. My Titan XP is overclocked to 2070Mhz but I dont have Doom, otherwise I would test it right now.
1080 right now getting me 72fps average, and doesn't sip below 60. Also this is running Vulcan which favors amd, soo. It's basically same performance as a 1080, which is able to max a lot of games 4k at 60 fps
Owner of 2 GTX 1080s and a 1440P monitor. (The ASUS PG279Q 165 HZ) How many FPS do I you think I'll get at 1440P max settings in Doom?
I was about to get gtx 1070, should I wait for the vega? currently running r9 290
MrRednexus get the 1070, lemme juss explain why, amd vega will come out in six months, this means that nvidia is probs going to start working on NEW gpus right now, meaning that by the time the amd vega comes out the Gtx 1180 or 1280 will be out sooner or later, so u should prob buy the 1070
ItzFunky It's the reason you SHOULD buy Vega, idiot.
You mean may
skip the Vega new Nvidia card coming out sooner then you think NVIDIA Volta GPU With GDDR6 Memory
I love how you're so informed and catch people off guard knowing exactly what they're doing with that gaff tape by hiding the extra power support he claims is just a monitoring device.
runs on 3 8pin connectors
lmao
Well I don't care about power consumption because I'm using solar :)
Aaron Hilsz-Lothian damn
*WRONG*
Actually only 1 8pin connector.
Yaay AMD
You always show off the most elusive cool Tech! It's great! Thank you very much!
I think the channel is dead. He hasn't uploaded for an hour!
I think AMD were a bit VEGA on the details about their new graphics card!
It's about time AMD to kick the green goblin
Rip to my ears as he hands that mic over.
It's nice to see a person so much passionate about his work :D
amd ftw #fx6300userhere :')
i have 8350 cant wait for zen and vega
I have one too but overclocked to 4.5ghz, its a great cpu.
fx8320 on 4.2ghz... The water in my watercooling is boiling... But it can still handel all games with my gtx 760 :D
fx6300 user here aswell, hate it, dont even want to go with amd again...
tr7zw Yo GTX 760 REPRESENT! I'm running a FX 6300 with it
honestly Linus it seems convenient that your battery died.....
2:00 so they are finally doing what the kyro3D II did back in the 90's. nice.
the battery died!? what a waste! I would love to hear what he had to say!
LoL 😂 the dropper of GPUs 👨🏾
Thanks for this. ever since the the first pictures and videos started coming out I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what that port was for.
take my money NOW!!!!
I have been waiting for a cpu and gpu upgrade since I'm still on a i5 760 and gts 450. Time to upgrade when ryzen and Vega launch since amd has been on their driver game and Nvidia has such shitty drivers updates which caused me to get 10fps less on overwatch
DongleLife don't waste money. get an i7 CPU for your socket and a new cooler. maybe a 750ti or better. any 192 bit or more GPU, problem solved.
Ben Phone that is such a fucking waste. you should never buy hardware so outdated.
Speedyjens o was thinking that because I need something really powerful not just for gaming but 3d rendering
just get a xeon 1231 v3 system
haswell core i7 for $240
don't listen to that dumbass telling you to buy 7 years old hardware
Finally somebody was allowed to show us the card. I'm surprised that some youtuber managed to show us more than most of renowned sites... gj.
So.. i should wait, or buy an 1060?
Whatever floats your boat. Get a 1070 incase if you want to SLI in future. 1060 isnt SLI compatible. If you're not looking for SLI at all, go 1060 its a good card for the price, its equivalent to a 980
These cards might not be out for while so it depends on how long you want to wait.
RX 480 > GTX 1060, largely because of Freesync.
1070 or wait!
id wait
350$ the max
They're gonna throw linus out of ces. Lol he's using console commands at a demo booths
I am so angry at myself bcuz I bought a 6600k and a 1070 at the first half of the year
Why? That is what happens with PC hardware. There is always hardware being released that is better than the last. The 6600k and 1070 will be great for now unless you are playing on 4k.
Alex Smith last year xD
i bought a 6700k and a 1070 last year too, i wouldn't be worried about it too much. there is always going to be a new "big thing" coming out every year.
Rodney Terry well said.
But you can still upgrade when you need to or want to, that's why PC's are the best.
I am totally looking forward to this. this is gonna be huge. I can tell. Its about time AMD jumped back on the saddle.
Amd Vega=350$
Gtx 1080ti=1500$
Nvidia be like "This graphics card is going to be a little bit better than the Amd Vega"
LuckyzXD 1080ti is 700$ I want to see Vega destroy it
Frostt me to but come on this amd vs nvida things is annoying we pc people should not fight with each other but fight against consoles
LuckyzXD AMD is brilliant! They're selling console parts at the price of an entire console. hahaha and suckers still buy them!! roflmfao
ForeverGAMING I'm just pointing out obvious discrepancies. I would love to see Vega destroy the titanX/1080ti but 6/8 gb g-ram that we seen so far won't be coming even close to it. But perhaps you're just one of those people who rather vote for "alternative facts" than seeing things for what they really are. ;)
You called AMD buyers "suckers", that's being a confirmed Green Fan.
Is there a reason why you look shocked in every thumbnail? It should stop.
im gonna assume is to generate click bait
Freaking stoked for Vega/Zen PC... can't wait to build one!
***** that's not being toxic.. your idea of toxic is flawed
Fancyslimshady Tech Journalist/reviewer. I think he's fine being subjective.
As a long time Intel/Nvidia user, this is a really exciting year for AMD. I'm seriously considering Ryzen for a workstation build.
That actually is super cool. The connection being able to draw all the data ever needed, dynamically. This is how they do it. It makes so much sense why there are day one patches for drivers. Thats the consumer while the teams were working on hardware level through a usb not their driver software.
Cool stuff. Hype to do my first build.
Raja has this love for his job that makes me want to get those amd graphics so much more.
Linus is such a baller. Just fronting that RX 480 dropper with power consumption. He is such a boss.
Congratulation on almost reaching 4M subs!!!!!!
Wow... Raja got MEGA excited when you mentioned the USB power monitor lol... talk about kid in a candy store!
Really rooting for AMD man, gonna be building my first computer here in about 7-8 months, hopefully by then everything will be out and plenty of benchmarks will be out so I can make a decision between AMD and Nvidia
