I visited Alaska this summer and spent about 2 months on the Kenai Peninsula working construction and hiking/camping/fishing on my off days. When people ask me what I learned, they expect me to talk about the carpentry work I did, but what I truly learned was how to be uncomfortable. Hiking 17 miles and not preparing yourself for the 2 feet of water that you have to walk through to get to your destination, and forgetting to pack more than 2 pairs of socks. Hiking into a lagoon to go fishing and needing to carry out 40 lbs of fish in your pack for 3 miles up rough terrain. It was an incredible experience and I would give anything to do it again. Learning to be uncomfortable is the best thing I have ever been blessed with.
Nothing like going through difficult challenges and knowing you can succeed and accomplish anything. You especially learned that you can feed yourself no matter what! I know people that cannot fathom catching or processing a fish to eat, they seem to think that grocery stores and fast food places will always be around. I am so thankful I taught all my kids how to fish, just wish I had the equipment and knowledge to learn and teach them hunting and processing game. I loved Alaska when I was there in 2017 and have always dreamed of going back. What I wouldn't give to be young and healthy again so I could buy some land and live off grid. NO NEIGHBORS!!! LOL!
Being poor sucks, but being poor and young with nothing to lose was some of the best times of my life. Glad you had a great adventure! Does Ian have a channel too?
I agree. I would definitely send some amazon packages to a PO Box. Mick, if you see this, please let us know how to send stuff to you. I want to send you some new blades for your circular saw
I love your channel, Mick and, as ever, that was an awesome video. Your friendship with Ian is heartwarming. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪🙂
Fun video watching these two young men enjoy the back woods of Alaska. Mick, your art work is lovely. What a great way to hone artistic skills while also building another source of revenue. Best wishes for a warm and fruitful winter during the months ahead.
I remember when I was your age, the quality of the steak didn't mater as long as it was cooked over an open fire. It wasn't until I got older, I developed a taste for the finer cuts, that and the desire to preserve my teeth. Great video Mick.
I can't explain enough how fucking amazing these vids are, I'm in the netherlands myself living the modern life but in a few years I will have a similar lifestyle like this! Can't wait.
Thanks Mick for your great content. Yesterday I watched the video your dad put out. It was good to see you two together. I love your family and feel like we're old friends. Keep up the good work and keep toiling for your food.
Hi mick, you lads are absolutely amazing, and Ian bless him is full of fun and laughter. It’s amazing to see that you boys are actually creating moments and memories and that you will later cherish them. Mick keep on doing what you are doing and life will happen in itself, life is about experiences and living each moment, I find solace watching you and Ian doing all crazy stuff and smiling, I lost my best mate recently and you boys made me smile. Thank you and god bless you.
So glad to have found you after watching your mom interview, she and your pops are my recent additions as well. I have the utmost respect for all of you and you do a great job on your videos. I'll have to learn more about your art pieces and the auctioning of them. I am 71yo and I too had a beautiful son until he was 26, I miss him every day! Hearing your story helps the void❤😊
Love your videos. I grew up in Delta and still have friends and family there. I love seeing some of the places I used to go growing up. Keep up the great work.
Good to see more videos from you. Recognized a lot of places in your video from our trip up there in 2023. It’s easy to see you’ve made a lot of progress.
loved the video mick! little comment for you tho, i taught the music was too loud I could barely hear you speaking at times! keep it on it'S a pleasure to watch!
Thanks for sharing this with us. Very nice camera work and the music is perfect. Love the art too, keep it up. Your videos like this are an inspiration and reminder to do basic human stuff like hike, build a fire, and cook meat. I don’t know how else to put it but it’s a really healthy thing.
Great video Mick and Ian. The fellowship and friendship show is my favorite. Jealous I can’t get out there with one of my buds and do this. I have four boys of my own. Soon I’ll try to take them and do some adventuring. Keep up the adventures!
I would love you to do a video on some of the essentials you take along on your backpacking trips. Talk about easy foods, hiking boots, minimal cooking utensils, what to look for in a sleeping bag, how you dress for cold weather although moving/hiking... and all the other things I missed. Thanks
Mick, I like your videos, even just the casual updates, but your over nighter was great. I really like your art work too, my bonus daughter is a painter. Could it be a thing you and some buddies go south to work in the winter months and do Alaska when it's hospitable? I work a second gig to have extra funds..I get life is expensive. I'm rooting for you!!!
it's good that you guys got to go out and spend time. and also, nice that you are living your life to the fullest one day at a time enjoy every bit of it. what i would do to see views take a hiking trip in Alaska. maybe dream will come true one day.
Love the hiking trip and cabin! The fresh cool dip was refreshing im sure. 😅 The steak looked delicious 😋 and the hot springs was a beautiful way to end an exciting adventure. 🚶 🏕 🍳 🔥 😊 🙏
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure with your great friend Ian. Love your videos and always look forward to a new video from you. Hope you have a great winter with your new job.
Livin' the life. I swam the upper Chena many times..... still haven't found me boys after all this time. Sigh.... Enjoy it laddies, thanks for the ride along! Best wishes
Great video. I think it’s great you enjoy hiking and exploring new areas. I do get a chuckle out of the adventure being camping in a remote cabin when you live in a remote cabin. But it’s the quest of seeing what’s around the next corner that makes it fun.
Glad you had a great over night trip and your friend plunging into the freezing water and ending in the hot springs was magnificent! Keep on Keeping on!
am a bit surprised that neither one of you seem to be wearing a side arm. We live in MT and we always carry at least one when we're out hiking, especially in wooded areas.
Well, you got some nice country you're living in, I do wish that I could be there to enjoy the great outdoors and to explore that great state. There are lots to see and do up there and someday I hopefully will make it up there in my old 73 ford and have some fun.
Hi Mick, I really enjoyed this video, the trip looked like so much fun! I like how close you are with your friends, it definately makes a trip ten times better. It made me laugh when your friend jumped into the pond, that must have been freezing! The sunset on the mountains was so pretty :-) Autumn is my favourite season, the colours are always stunning! I love your art pieces so much - you are very talented and creative. I can't wait for your next video, sending all my love from England, Baya xxx
Great video Mick, in spite of the negative nellies😢😢. Really enjoyed seeing Ian, too. He sure was brave jumping in that freezing water😂😂 Take care guys🎉🎉🎉❤

Mick you have the best voice ever! Radio Broadcast voice! Terrific video!
I agree with you ! ❤
He really does. Should get a job in radio broadcasting for the winter months. Lol
It's so deep for that cutie pie face!
I think he should read audio books! I would love to have him read some of the audio books I have!
