      In a perfect world your side stitch counts would all be the same and therefore an even number. But in reality we just single crochet evenly around the border and there is a 50/50 chance that it will be even.

    Thanks for sharing this lovely border! Your instructions are clear and precise. Also, you're the only person that went into such detail to explain what to do when the stitches don't line up correctly! In the past, I've frogged (pulled apart) my work trying to figure out what I did wrong! The solution is so simple, thanks again!

    This is the best border for almost any blanket. I do add a single crochet row to give stability to the blanket before doing a half double crochet row. Then I start doing the double crochet rows. The corners lay beautifully. This is my go to for Corner 2 Corner blankets. Thank you for your expertise.

    I havent used this border in a while. I just finished a baby blanket and normally don't have problems finding a good border to use. I was getting frustrated and then just started double crocheting around and it dawned on me I can do front post back post on this and it's going to finish it off so perfect. I'm now happy with my soon to be finished block stitch baby blanket!!!

      It takes away the need for checking your stitch count. Only problem is that it limits how big the border can be but I like it at two inches.

    I haven't crocheted since I made my own children their baby blankets. Now
    My first baby is having his own baby, and I want to make her one! Your tutorials are SO easy and pleasant to follow!I would like to use Bernat Chunky Baby Yarn as I have 9 3.5 ounce skeins of it here. I'm thinking this border will be perfect; could you recommend a blanket pattern? I just subscribed and am looking for one now. Thanks and have a lovely day. 🎉

    Thanks in advance 💗

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад +1

      You may just stick with a simple border like single crochets or double crochets, this would make it easier to continue working your increases and decreases. But you can change the color or even work stripes to make the border really pop.

    Love the ribbed border. Thank you. Question: can you make a complete blanket using the ribbed Stitch?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад

      Not using this method. This method stops working at about 2.5 inches. But there is other ribbed border methods that would work.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад +1

      I am going to say no, not the way I show it here. Because for a star blanket you would have to work decreases to keep the start shape. It might be able to modify the pattern to work.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад

      There are no increases after the first row. We work several DC into the corners on the first row and then do not increase any more.

    How would you (or can you) use this edging but with squared corners instead of rounded?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад +1

      You would have to use another technique that includes increasing in the corners. I would just look up Ribbed Crochet Blanket border on youtube and you will find a tutorial.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet

      Yes. It does not need any special stitch count....ok, actually I think each side needs to have an even number of stitches but you can make that happen easily.

    If I need a 5” Border, how many DC will each corner need to prevent curling--Thanks!

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад +1

      Too many. What I would do is make a small square of DC then add a 5 inch border to it and experiment with the number of DCs in the corner. I tried to add as many as I could and I only got a 3 inch border. IF you add to many DC you will get a big whole in the corner.

    • @debrareese5778
      @debrareese5778 Год назад

      I wasn't able to try alternating colors for this project. I realized my blanket was a light weight yarn and my border was a medium weight. When I tried to alternate the light weight yarn got swallowed up in the medium weight! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you again! I've received so many compliments.

    Is there a way to make corners angular rather than rounded

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 года назад

      Yes there is and if you look up ribbed crochet border you should be able to find a video tutorial on it. You just have to work a corner increase in the corners to make them squared off.

  • @hmeirify

    How many hdc in the corner. You said you put 9 in the dc

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 года назад

      I would still work 9 or more if you would like. The more you work the more rows you can work into the border, making the border wider. Eventually the border will start curling forward if you work too many rows. 9 DC worked for a 2.5 inch border.

  • @leahoconnor368

      I think it gets covered up with the front post and back post stitches of the second row.
