      I stare at a rock and see a rock. My wife sees images in a stone, or in this case, makes something because of the shape. I only see it after she points it out.

    That was a delightful video! Rolling tumbler, toad on jasper, and Daisy really upped the entertainment value. The rinses between stages is a great tip. And now I need to get some ceramic tumbler material. Thanks meMiner!

      If I only had one kind of media, it would be ceramic.

      @@meMiner Oh, really? I don't like the plastic beads much. I use a strainer to get them all out of the rinse water and then I let them dry and label them with whatever grit they were tumbled with. I can imagine all the micro plastic bits getting into the environment, adding more to whatever is there.

      Wow. Thanks so much! I have fun with the tumbling. Still, I make mistakes and share those too. We are all learning. For example, it was only recently that I learned about using hot water after burnishing. It was from somebody on the the rock tumbler forum.

    Finally!!! An informative video on tumbling that is complete and not as dry as the deserts where I got most of my rocks. One tip: use a plastic colander rather than the metal mesh. On some stones, the metal will leave tiny streaks that you may not see with the naked eye.

      I have been in Cozumel twice. Wonderful scuba diving, for both day and night dives. Of course, there are places on the mainland that would be great to visit. However, some of the more remote places are really a no go zone for somebody like me. Odds are nothing bad would happen, but there is a chance that I could get myself and family into a world of trouble. Not just from the local bad guys, but even some of the police.

    Jaw dropping beauty I love your videos so much you inspired me to do rock tumbling a while ago you make me happy when I am bored and I never get tired of your videos you are so good at making me have a great day. PS how old is your tumbler

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 лет назад

      I have a few tumblers. The oldest is perhaps 6 years old. Before that, I had plastic ones that were inexpensive but didn't last very long.

    Hey friend! We just entered the pre-polish stage with the Nat Geo 3 lb tumbler. We’re going to use the “Gem Foam” to polish, but the instructions don’t say at what speed for the final polish! After watching this we are definitely going to burnish using your method.

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  Год назад +1

      I haven't tried the gem foam, but it looks to be to be a burnish and not a stage 4 polish. Please make sure you are doing a stage 4 polish too (usually 1200 grit aluminum oxide or something similar.

    I've got a 3 lb barrel full of jasper, and some nice chert, that should be coming out of stage 1 tomorrow. I will try to use some of your tricks on this run.

      They should round and polish up nice. Easy type of rock to get good results. Since making this video, I have started putting these kind of hard rocks in polish for 2+weeks rather than the standard 1 week. Gives them extra twinkle. Good luck with your tumble

    Those turned out nice. I was surprised that you use 1200 grit as polish. I consider that pre-polish. I have some 1000 grit I use as pre-polish. For polish I use stuff that's like 14,000 grit. It's somewhere right around a micron. I have some other polish that I save for special occasions that's sub micron.

      Right now, they are on the dining room table. My wife will take a few for her display box. The others will disappear over time when visitors find one they like.
