I'm 72 and this coordinated non handsy motion has increased my drive carry from 220 to 235 yards. Less effort, more power. A major obstacle to improving my swing at my age has been to realize that I AM a Senior and my body has changed. Accepting reality, seek advice, and embrace change. Thanks for the lesson. Richard C. I am a 10 hdcp., 70 yr old male and have been struggling with making a turn and getting the club inside. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't swing the club like I did when I was 50. I've incorporated this into my swing and it has helped tremendously. I have room now to clear my right side. Thank you Danny!

I have watched every You tube video imaginable on the golf swing. Bought some paid subscriptions and watched some more videos. Paid local pro’s for lessons. BUT THIS ONE! This video is a game changer for me. I applied this swing across my bag, except for short wedge shots and what a difference. Irons are 10 yards longer, first plus. I can hit my fairway woods and hybrids now off the deck, including 3 wood, second plus. Finally I am striping my driver with a nice baby draw, still tinkering with the back foot placement, but what a Eureka day for me! Love this swing. Thank you so much for this video, it is a game changer for me. Well done sir!

Just going on 50 in october, so I’m not yet a really senior ‘senior’ golfer, but since I have back problems I tried the tips in this video out yesterday on the driving range and 9 holes on a par 3 golf course.
This worked great for me (even with the irons). I also hit the balls about 10-15 yards further then I normally do. I went round in 27 strokes (that is about 5 strokes less as to what I normally play), so for the first time ever I made par (on scratch). My handicap has gone from 17.8 to 16.6 now.
Thank you for this video; it helped me a lot!!!

Danny, I'm 71 and had a disc removed about 35 years ago so I have flexibility problems and have lost a lot of distance over the past 12 years. I saw this video over the weekend and tried out the tips on the range yesterday with very VERY good results. Today I had a lesson with my pro who has a Trackman and my clubhead speed with my driver has increased from 81mph to 86mph solely as a result of using the tips in this video. Excellent. Thanks SO much

Hey Danny first of all thanks for the video. I truly appreciate your willingness to help with different thoughts and ways to help seniors. I know in the senior golf leagues I play in most of the guys are 65-75. One of the biggest issues is arthritis that has resulted from age, injury or health (RA). Your breathing out on the downswing was very good as a method of losing the tension built up trying to "smash" the ball. Your step drill showed me that I was not using all of my flexibility (relative term) that I still have available. Please keep up the great work and little by little things have improved. As always "Don't let the old man in"... Thank You

Hi Danny, tried your method since Mid-august most succesfully, after rstudying this video several times before a competition. Never been driving so well. At age 80 it helped me to complete my backswing, as only after a full backswing I make a good swing without quick hooks or nasty sclices. Used to lift the left foot when making a driver swing, but now I keep it down and let the right foot rise at impact. Will study your other videos as I'm a dedicated follower of your teaching from now on.

Lost my way about 10-15 years ago and have struggled, despite lessons from two different pros. Thought about giving up several times!! .
Watched your lesson for seniors a few weeks ago and have been trying your technique, been getting better each round , and today at my home
Course , Muir of Ord , in the North of Scotland, shot 12 over par 👍. My driving has improved significantly, straighter and longer than it has been for years.

First time viewer of Danny‘s videos. Happened upon this one after 2 tough games where my driver was very inconsistent. Sounded too easy but my next game out I relaxed as I said to myself: why not try this, don’t have much to lose.
I hit my first drive smoothly, just missed an overhanging branch and landed in the fairway, with a smile on my face. 2nd drive was even better, and then I started to relax and it went from there. Was actually looking forward to the next driver tee off.
It’s simple, looks easy, but Danny has come up with something that works based on his experience and an excellent ability to convey an understandable message.
Many thanks from a less frustrated Montreal golfer Danny.

Great lesson Danny , I’m 73 and got my handicap down from 22 to 15 and it all started from a total meltdown with the driver, I chased distant got a swing like John Daly too much arms in my case and then disaster. Mixed shots and eventually the yips I couldn’t take the club back on the tee. It took me 2 years to find my own salvation. The result .? Shorter more compact backswing, hands to shoulder level and right foot back for an easy turn, then get through the ball. More consistency, more distance and no swing thoughts I keep things simple on the course.
Once again Danny many thanks for such a well explained review, you really do keep things simple why complicate a game which is hard enough!

The senior turn (I'm 54, not quite senior but still stiff) moving all parts away as a unit, then follow through with the bottom arm like "skimming a stone" caused 75% fairways hit & 78% GiR. Since watching & practicing your drill (including practice putting eyes closed) dropped my score from 95 to 90 and today I shot 82! Unreal! Only 2 miss hit tee shots. Thanks again.

Have been playing golf for 70 years now.
Grew up as a young lad watching Moe Norman play.
    This video is fantastic.
One slight modification I am using is to address the ball
about 4 inches behind the tee.
    Much like Moe Norman did.
I find the swoosh feel as I swing through.
    Keep encouraging us senior golfers.
A short golf poem my father taught me
If every lie was teed up high
And every shot a straight one.
Then every game would be the same
No round a really great one
Golf goes you see to life’s own ditty
    Without the rough
    There’d be no pretty

You start talking about the head at around 8:05. What I've found is that I can only turn my shoulders about 45 degrees with proper form but I can also only turn my head about 45 degrees and these motions are in opposite directions (from above, shoulders clockwise, head counter-clockwise). This means I can keep my head facing the ball through the backswing and impact without strain. (About the only thing that isn't straining!)

Jack Nicklaus turned his head to the right before initiating his swing. It was a key move to keep his head steady and behind the ball. He got some pretty good results from that. I like the way you've also made that addition to this really fine tip for seniors. It really works for me.

I use this technique not only for the driver but my iron use as well. The only add I have here is that you need to move the ball back slightly in the stance so that you are compressing the ball at impact instead of reaching out for it. Big difference in distance for every club in the bag.

I also adjusted my irons to this sort of swing. I don't set my trailing foot back as much, or flare my toes back as much. My lead foot is actually flared to about 10 o'clock. This allows me to deliver the face of my irons square with the target, my chest and arms finish more square with the target, and with the catapult method you taught earlier this year, I get great distance! I have had to step up a couple of clubs due to an increase in distance. Two things, 1) the Catapult method, and 2) foot position to allow me to store then quickly release more energy!! Both thanks to you, Danny!!

I am 79 years of age, still on single figures, I have some flexibility. This video is very helpful and the concept easy to understand. One thing that helped me was I watched an old video by the legendary long driver exponent, Mike Austin. He advocated turning the navel 8 inches on the backswing and sixteen inches on on the downswing. I introduced this thought to my swing and it immediately helped my accuracy and an increase in distance.

Very nice Danny. I am now a month into finally swinging the driver 175 yds straight as an arrow in the air thru much much practice time. Occasionally at the net 200 yds. I would like to add for me anyway. Right foot slightly back, Golf ball slightly back. Will bring ball forward as my swing improves more. Then Shaft nice and 90 deg pointing off center of me, grip proper (key as well), Look at target (key, a lot of guys forget this at the range), turn right shoulder in, drop left shoulder, then and then only bend right knee in, keep back weight on right knee tension. Slow proper 3 point takeaway, right elbow in and on downswing keeping in mind the travel is shorter to get sweet spot on club. Now even my mentor says now I am ready for an actual game. And he is a stickler o my he is! Anyhow, unreal how much goes into things with the driver. Also keeping my grip and elbow in prevents going over the top and increases my down stroke length of where club head lands. I thought I was crazy at one point, but I actually can hit the damn driver now after @ 4 months of cursing........lol. Much love to you Danny!

Hi Danny. First of all thanks for your incredible videos. The driver has been, and is, the bane of my life. I usually have a fade which occasionally turns into a straight pull. I understand this to be an out to in swing which I continually try to correct. To do this I do pull my right foot back and in addition close the face of the club. I also try to slow down the speed of the swing which I have found beneficial in trying to get the body (hips?) turning ahead of the arms. The results of all this have times, been quite extraordinary. Some months ago I hit 13 out of 14 fairways which included two drives of 250 yards and most of the others over 200 yards. A few weeks ago, much to the shock of my fellow players (and me) I hit one 261 yards. The problem is huge inconsistency from week to week. Last week I asked one of our group, who pays off 6, to make a comment. He stated my shoulders were aligned too far left which encouraged my out to in swing and too much follow through. I should mention that my backswing is possibly too much in that I often see the club head out my left eye at the top of my swing. I did notice in your video that your left shoulder was also a little aligned left, which gave me some hope! To finish, I am 70 years young and play off 25. Please keep them coming - I love it!

deirdre zlomanchuk where is your ball position? Set up regularly, then move back a ball in your stance. One ball per swing at a time until you see a difference.
The debate of path vs face in relation to flight/curve far out lives me. With that being said if you are using a similar swing demonstrated above, your pull is probably orchestrated from club face(IPO.) Hope this helps

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  5 лет назад +2

deirdre zlomanchuk absolutely, it sounds like the club is attaching the ball too much from out to in. The very first thing I would do it experiment with the club face. See if you can keep it open through impact and see what happens.
It’s about creative practice and learning to feel which way the club face is pointing at impact

@@BussKITT Thinking about it...it may be too far forward. Your suggestion of moving it back a little each time, gives me hope! As you and Danny said as well...club face at impact is probably the culprit! Thanks.
