Cat Stevens, my idol in the 70's, came to South Africa as Yusuf Islam. He said "Thank God I became a Muslim before meeting any Muslims and that I read the Quran before going to Saudi Arabia.
Alhumdulillah I too became a Muslin in South Africa 24/12/1971. The best decision of my life. Also the result of meeting 2 Muslim Indian brothers who ran a Islamic book shop in Durban. May Allah forever bless them

This is way back in around 1979, at that time there were few muslims in the UK. I think his boss must have been to muslim countries, that is why he was so accomodating and understanding. A lot of British nationals in the 1950's, 60's and before that, lived and or worked in the Gulf states, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen etc, etc.🕋
