Yes, the whole shinto religion is a lot different than stuff like the catholic church or muslim stuff. Mikos aren't like nuns or anything. As far as I know most mikos just work at shrines as a part time job. They get paid to do simple things like using a broom to clean the shrine grounds (as seen at 1:14) or sell charms (omamori). So there are no rules that a miko can't have a boyfriend.
