This project turned out great. Printed the case, ordered the screen and cables i needed. Used MSFS popm mentioned in the video and I was set. Plan on doing the other GTC units for my home cockpit.
@@zino3087you can purchase or build yourself a thing called a “knobster” which is what I did, I built my own.. with this single knob or “knobster” you can use the touch screens to tap on any gauge you’d like to change that has a rotary dial in the game and once selected you use the knobster to change the perimeters.. That is so cool! I'm looking forward to the video on the using knobs in MSFS as I like flying in VR and it's a pain having to look at the keyboard to find the right key combos to do things.
Agreed. Makes no sense to use 2 video ports for 7" monitors. I put complete longitude flight deck (including 3 gtc's) on 2 asus 21" touchscreens/knobster. The functionality is the same as in this video.
I've been using an app called Matric for Android, it's a button box app but it can screen mirror, so I put my panels on my second monitor and screen mirror to my tablets/phone, the touch functionality seems to work just fine with it.
@@ElixirOfEuphoria Certainly possible. I'm sure I've read that some people don't get the frame rate hit, particularly if connected to an iGPU, but merely activating the VFR map popout on my 4K screen has a dramatic hit. I suspect that some form of additional 'VSync' is being introduced and that it doesn't match the main screen. Should be easy for Asobo to fix if they wanted to.
This is brilliant! Is it functional to only print the GTC580 case and use it for both GTC570 in portrait and GTC580 in landscape? I'm assuming the GTC570 would expand to fit the larger screen real estate the GTC580 provides.
Hey oneill09, Yes sure, you can absolutly do that. Additionally you can hide the task bar and the window title bar. It would look like this: built2fly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/IMG20221231121138-scaled.jpg -B2F
Hello. I bought the parts and assembled it and everything is working almost perfect. But I have two problems: 1) At minute 5:06 you show the TBM930 PFD/MFD/NAV panel, but the side buttons to switch between them are not accessible. My screen looks the same as yours, but I tap on the MFD or NAV and it doesn't change. These buttons are on the outside. Is there a way to change this? 2) Is there a way to disappear on this screen the windows 11 toolbar and menu at the bottom of the screen? For the rest, it was pretty good. Congrats and thanks for making it available. I'm going to print the parts on the Ender 3D V2 later today.
Wow !! amazing ! There is any option to put one of those gtc 750 3d printed on an stand joystick for mfd cougar ??? Or maybe the same 3d stand works there?
Hey Nesty, we are not planning on creating a housing for the MFD Cougar. For this purpose a 4:3 monitor maybe fits a little bit better. The 7" waveshare display would be too high and too narrow as you can see here: built2fly.com/mfd_couger_7touch/ - B2F
Wow! Great video again and he answered a question I was going to ask in the last 10 seconds. I do hope he has a Etsy store to sell parts of components for us that are less capable.. always wanted a garman 430/530 display for my C172.
Great video and helpful to think of how I want to setup my simulator. I'm interested in your next video about rotary knobs since I've been thinking about building a DIY knobster.
Is there a way we can do it without display and set it like the stream deck xl for specific stuff. Only reason smaller display causes issues when I been using it
Good tip for anyone having this issue: not all micro USBs are the same. A rookie error but the cable I was using must’ve just been a power and not data cable. I used the one from the box and it works, it’s just much too short; so off to buy another one.
I assume it needs a free HDMI port in the graphic card ? How do you connect that + 2 screens ? I also have two monitors and they take the two HDMI - IN of my graphic cards ... Thanks for any inputs (!) you might have ! Cheers
Lots of ways. On-board graphics. Graphics card with multiple outputs. A second or even third graphics card. USB or other interface to HDMI adapter for newer machines…
I have a ton of these waveshare displays lying around (7in v2.1, sim compatible) but it only partially registers touches. Too bad I can’t find any other drivers :/
Excellent idea and implementation, have my replica just finished. However, it would be nice for the TBM 930, you could switch between PDF, MDF and COM by touch, so unfortunately you always have to click with the mouse in the cockpit. Or is there already a solution for this?
Hey youpepe, that is correct. The TDS GTN 750 has a slight delay on my PC. However this is most likely due to the fact my old graphics card is running 4 screens simultaneously (GTX 1060). The PMS50 GTN 750 and the GTC570/580 aircrafts do not have a delay on my PC. -B2F
I purchased this display, it works perfectly in windows, but after the update of today I can’t select any of the Garmin buttons. I can select them but nothing pops out. Do you have the same problem?
the touch doesn't really work great with the standard pop outs. If it works, your mouse will switch to your second display which is annoying if you still use the mouse for AP for example.
Thanks for your sharing this information and I would like to see more information about this device and I would like to get one for myself, please and advise me how to buy this device Thanks again Essa jaafar
Dont think so, even if you could display the shard on the display the focus would switch from sc to gg. Meaning your Mouse would be on your second monitor when you click on it. You're better of using regular tablets for gameglass i guess.

Excellent idea for an affordable external pop out . I would love to see a Garmin g1000 with the perspective plus bezel, which has less buttons than the regular G1000. The perspective plus configuration is used with the cirrus SR 2x aircrafts. Thanks
and now all of your controllers wont work after you touch the touch screen controller because the main msfs window loses focus and wont capture any controller inputs lmao good luck with it. better to make a dedicated controller with that software to make panels and stuff instead of pop out panel.

Neat, BUT, does this have the same disastrous effect on FPS that popping out even the VFR map does in MSFS itself?
That is a very good question!
I'd imagine this is one of the reasons Asobo hasn't made a dedicated pop out manager themselves
