Here's my thoughts:* Thanks to those of you who are supportive! It means a lot! To those who are skeptical or outright hostile, I understand. TFS were great and the comparisons are going to happen. I knew it before I even started. I don't want to poach their work, so Super Abridged isn't going to have many, if any, references to them. I'm characterizing many of the characters differently and trying to find new angles for things... which isn't easy. I don't expect your respect out the gate. Your respect is something I want to earn. I'll keep working at it and get better and the valid criticism I've seen in places helps me! I don't blame you at all for looking down on me! I don't blame you for disliking the work I've done so far! I do blame that one guy who thinks I'm Australian, that's a DEEP insult. XD Point is, I'm going to keep trying to make something of myself regardless. **Broly was really long and slow paced, this is really short and fast paced. Why?* I made Broly long because the movie didn't have a lot of fat for me to cut and there was a lot I wanted to do. I cut about 40% and added in another 20% of my own material. With Super, there is a LOT of fat and padding. This one 12 minute episode covers the first 100~ minutes of the Super anime. As for the pacing, I wanted Broly to be more dramatic and on a slow burn. With Super, I want dramatic moments and good character writing, but it's also a lot less rigid so I can more easily express comedy. **Is this a continuation of the TFS canon? Are you continuing their story/work?* Nope. I love TFS's abridged of Z, but I'm not going to continue their storyline. I have my own ideas and I don't feel it would be right to use their writing to prop up my own. I want to sink or swim off my own effort. **Dear god, where is your Patreon?! I wouldn't want to work on another movie between Super Abridged episodes since the Broly Movie took 14 months to make which is a LONG time for viewers to wait. However, if the patreon does well enough for me to hire an additional editor full time (hopes and dreams, I know), I'd consider either covering movies TFS didn't touch (Fusion Reborn comes to mind) or running a second abridged series on a second franchise outside of dragon ball.
Actually, To be fair , your first attempt is actually some what better and more refined than tfs first outting. This is Truly good and I expect it will only get better as you continue.. I'm a small RUclipsr myself , so I understand the work involved. Still. Keep going. People want this to happen.

It'll get shut down regardless, it's why TFS had to stop cus Toei went after them, just redoing the voice over alone isn't enough, which is why TFS db episodes now is their own animations of the characters
The voice acting is really well done, and I love the fact that this series has its own jokes and personalities, and isn't attempting to ride off TFS success and previously established characters. Kudos, as so many abridged versions I have seen do this, and are just awful. Congrats, and as long as the series continues in that direction I will be a fan.
Yeah, between general Earth knowledge and the line about Goku killing Frieza instead of "defeating" and or referencing Trunks as Frieza's killer, not much else really stuck out as out of place. I still like it as a whole.

Stands to reason he'd be up on his culture so, since there's time skipped between Beerus waking up and them leaving, I left it up to viewer discretion to figure Whis filled him in on what he'd been up to. As for the Goku killing Freeza thing... they don't really know about Trunks time travelling when they meet him later so it's a plot hole I can't get around. I might do some retroactive patching by having Trunks explain he killed Freeza and having Whis justify not knowing by saying he didn't check too close.

@@saadsami8860Goku was 13 in the Pilaf arc. They never directly say his age in the King Piccolo arc (not in the dub, at least), but simple math would tell you that he was around 16. He was just really small for his age. And then puberty hit him like a bullet train during the time-skip before the 23rd World Tournament, wherein he was 19. So, technically Goku was a teenager when he saved the world, not technically a kid ETA: Yes, I know I'm a nerd 😂
I think that was partially because of Master Roshi talking about training the next generation Or at least I recall Roshi saying something along those lines to Goku back in original dragon ball

I thought, possibly, this was just going to be a copy of TFS, but this is absolute, Abridged GOLD. I was laughing almost hysterically, only 6 minutes in. I'm 10 minutes in now and have rewound several times already to listen to certain lines again. That's how I know this Abridged series is straight 🔥

Took me a bit to realize that Beerus and Whis VA were different. Such an amazing work to the detail and the extra sass between the two is just chef's kiss.
It always bothered me how Beerus was the God of Destruction and they talked about how he destroys so more can be created but... why? Where? Directed by who? Does he just break stuff and it gets fixed? Why is that a good thing? The idea that he's a "demolitions guy" for the angels felt like the missing ingredient.
Yeah, Beerus is supposed to be the one to destroy planets home to unruly species, while Shin is supposed to nurture life on planets. Problem is beerus is trigger happy and Shin is too laz with that. Beerus destroys but Supreme Kai isn't creating anything.

Nah man as a 23 year old guy right now, I was around 9 or 10 when I started watching TFS. I’ve never seen anything that reminded me so much of my childhood while also being in itself a new experience. Marvelous job.

I wish you luck man. DBZ Abridged is a tough act to step in and present your work alongside, but as TFS themselves pointed out back in the Abridged 1st Episode contest a few years back, pretty much everyone who submitted options to that contest were better quality than their own first episode was. You've got good audio and voice selection, solid lip flaps, a reasonable pace, and you're getting chuckles out of people already. You've got the start, all you gotta do now is keep it going! May you get all the enjoyment out of this project that you hope for.
This was really good, really felt like a modern day TFS but as its own thing. The voices, the jokes and the editing are all top notch. Can’t wait for more episodes 🔥
God the sound kid buu made as he slowly got destroyed by the spirit bomb got me for some reason. Great episode can't wait for the next one, give's me nostalgia from watching the original abridged series the first time.
Now they need to stay stay in the light. A heavy task, but I think they can do it. TFS themselves were ROUGH in the Sayan arc (personally. Still funny stuff, though.) But namek onwards was their best and most quotable. TFS weren't perfect from the start, but they were good. And this already feels like the best parts from early TFS, With slithers of modern, and original ideas.
This exactly captures the vibe I was hoping for when I saw the word "Abridged" in the title. Also Mr Satan is a national treasure and that "you're fuckin terrifying" sent me. Immaculate vibes. TFS would be proud. Carry on, Gentlemen.
I won’t compare you to Team Four Star because no up-and-coming abridger deserves that. But I will say, of all the abridged projects that have cropped up since then, this one is definitely the best I’ve seen. It got a laugh out of me a number of times. Good work!
Ok take this the right way. This is not quite TFS but you’ve actually smashed it. This series has so much potential, take your time and don’t rush it. This could easily be the continuation we all wanted to dbz abridged
This is a good start, I look forward to you guys improving the jokes, voice acting and editing. Yeah 4 star didn’t start off the best, but they ended up with something magical. Hope you guys can find that same magic 🫡

@@saadsami8860Goku was 13 in the Pilaf arc. They never directly say his age in the King Piccolo arc (not in the dub, at least), but simple math would tell you that he was around 16. He was just really small for his age. And then puberty hit him like a bullet train during the time-skip before the 23rd World Tournament, wherein he was 19. So, technically Goku was a teenager when he saved the world, not technically a kid

I thought, possibly, this was just going to be a copy of TFS, but this is absolute, Abridged GOLD. I was laughing almost hysterically, only 6 minutes in. I'm 10 minutes in now and have rewound several times already to listen to certain lines again. That's how I know this Abridged series is straight 🔥

It always bothered me how Beerus was the God of Destruction and they talked about how he destroys so more can be created but... why? Where? Directed by who?
Does he just break stuff and it gets fixed? Why is that a good thing?
The idea that he's a "demolitions guy" for the angels felt like the missing ingredient.

Yeah, Beerus is supposed to be the one to destroy planets home to unruly species, while Shin is supposed to nurture life on planets.
Problem is beerus is trigger happy and Shin is too laz with that. Beerus destroys but Supreme Kai isn't creating anything.

Nah man as a 23 year old guy right now, I was around 9 or 10 when I started watching TFS. I’ve never seen anything that reminded me so much of my childhood while also being in itself a new experience. Marvelous job.
This is what we need. Even if it's not actually TFS stuff, the jokes in this episode feel pretty close to home with theirs 😂

I wish you luck man. DBZ Abridged is a tough act to step in and present your work alongside, but as TFS themselves pointed out back in the Abridged 1st Episode contest a few years back, pretty much everyone who submitted options to that contest were better quality than their own first episode was.
You've got good audio and voice selection, solid lip flaps, a reasonable pace, and you're getting chuckles out of people already. You've got the start, all you gotta do now is keep it going! May you get all the enjoyment out of this project that you hope for.

TFS themselves were ROUGH in the Sayan arc (personally. Still funny stuff, though.) But namek onwards was their best and most quotable.
TFS weren't perfect from the start, but they were good. And this already feels like the best parts from early TFS, With slithers of modern, and original ideas.

I won’t compare you to Team Four Star because no up-and-coming abridger deserves that. But I will say, of all the abridged projects that have cropped up since then, this one is definitely the best I’ve seen. It got a laugh out of me a number of times. Good work!

Ok take this the right way. This is not quite TFS but you’ve actually smashed it. This series has so much potential, take your time and don’t rush it. This could easily be the continuation we all wanted to dbz abridged
This is a good start, I look forward to you guys improving the jokes, voice acting and editing. Yeah 4 star didn’t start off the best, but they ended up with something magical.
