This is my first league start and was blown away by how good it is VS bosses. First time killing maven deathless compared to last league with SST raider or LC ele where I struggled. Temp chains is really OP.

I get GGG gives the “less curse effect” to Bane to prevent “lazy curse”. Although it would still be cool if they have a “10% more curse effect per supported gem, up to 20%” to make it not impacting Bane itself :)

I did a Bane starter in 3.19 and it did soo well! Once you get a 4L and profane bloom it feels really good! One of the tried and true starter builds for PoE

I've been league starting this since 3.17 I will definetly continue doing so. The smooth feeling of this build is just wonderful, the fact you can just blow up entire packs as soon as you get to maps and then DoT and kite anything that survives really makes for efficient league starter. :)
Awsome guide ! :) Really helped alot to get the explanation for all the "variation" in the build videos you got :) Just for the sake of it Atlas passives - Chaos Dot build (not bane build!! :)) What is the recommenced? From the video I gathered the following: Essences is always good (Life and others) Harvest seems to be used a lot (Reforge Chaos) Expedition is always good as an allrounder (get som fossils for wand craft for example + other stuff) Yes I know , the general idea is "take what you like". And sure that is true, but i just wanted a breakdown of crafts and currency for said crafts :)

I'm going to do this build as my second one, it looks great and i have played Bane before and to top it off it works with the league, compared to my current build. Thanks for the great explanation (even if it was a little lengthy ;) gonna try the staff version first since i got a Cane of Unravelling till i find better gear.
I league started poison conc into Spectral Shield Throw, neither of which felt good at all. I went back to bane and it's felt fantastic. I love it so much.
I hope people take away that they don't need to follow builds perfectly after you have some experience, and theres a lot of fun to be had if you tinker with them to suit what you wanna do. It's how you learn. I was able to adapt a lot of what I learned doing the Bane starter a few leagues ago into running my own starter this league as Poison BV Trickster, and it went pretty well. I will keep trying to put together my own "basic" builds, then start doing things that are more complex. There's so much more to the game than only copy pasta, leaning into that has extended my play time each season a lot.
I watched this video back in sanctum league and really wanted to try it but I told myself to limit to 1 character for 3.20. I decided to finally try this since crucible was so boring after I maxed my hexblast miner. By far this is one of my favorite mapping builds.

one thing - i'd ask you to please not list the "cost" something had to you, but the cost something would present if one wanted to buy or craft it at the time of the guide's release - saying that an amulet "only cost you 15c" when you simply got lucky while crafting it is quite useless information for someone looking to understand the cost of the build. that pet peeve aside, your content has been very enjoyable and enlightening, and i am currently gearing this to accompany my cold dot starter.
Getting used to crafting on cheaper bases is just gonna be more cost efficient in the long run, especially with how easy it is. Go to Craft of Exile's emulator to try it out for yourself and see how easy it actually is to hit those good mods on a good base and then you can calculate how much the crafting would have costed with what you received in the end. On the amulet you really are only looking for max life and +1 to skills with an open prefix or suffix to craft some good stuff on it, resistances if needed. There's also a possibility that you hit both +1 chaos and +1 all skill gems which is the dream, which is why you wanna get a second base to continue crafting on while you have your current amulet. The anointment is also something to take into consideration when you buy your base and you have to consider what would be the most cost efficient for you, since buying oils can be quite cost heavy.
I'm thinking about this build. I had explode staff lying around on SSF Standard, if you add HoAsh, Hex Bloom, Profane Bloom to that... Must be awesome!
I just finished up playing this in SSF, tons of fun. I just found the single target to be problematic, making Sanctum's in particular annoyingly hard, so I've decided to reroll. Best mapper in a long while though.

Back a league or 2 ago when I played your bane build I put an Awakened Spell Cascade on Bane, and you want to talk about clear? Ya it lowered the damage but.. holy cow did it have a massive area of coverage.
Hi! Started with your build (it's really comfortable) and easy moved to t16, but! Last variation with hexbloom (I used your pob with minimal changes: big bane radius (max radius) + 3 hexes + empower + hexbloom + profane bloom) kills any game instance I tried when farming blight or blight encounters. 40+ mobs affected by this in the same moment gives 5 second lag, and then disconnect and your map instance lost when you'r back. Works for any server. Tried on several PC's with top configurations and different providers, so it's not a local problem. I replaced hexbloom with controlled destruction and everything's fine. JFYI. Also, I see that your POB config gives not enough mana to use 3*50% auras and cast something in the same time even with E 4lvl gem. So it looks like enlighten 4 is extremely expensive (now its' near 9divs) just to have a bit more comfort with mana with the same auras. (grace, determ/malevolence, vitality, banner).
I can fit flesh, male, grace, and vitality with this build. The part that makes it viable is actually the -7 cost to non-channeling on both rings. You should end up with around ~30 mana left if you follow the tree and gear correctly. Which is enough for bane, blight, etc...

Love the build so far. Have you tested the new jewel „The Balance of Terror“? I wonder if it would work with Bane which would be really nice but I’m not sure if it would work in kinda new to Bane.
i've been playing this build since middle of last week after my first league starter turned out to be bait.. lvl 93 and loving it. I'm having much worse RNG luck than you did with harvest and essence crafting gear though. probably 10k yellow harvest juice into a shield and have not once landed on both spell damage and +1 chaos gems together and even when I hit spell damage alone its like a terrible low tier roll I find the build to be very fun but I struggle with survivability. Even with 100% spell suppress and like 5600 life I just sometimes get deleted.
Enfeeble can be a decent curse to use to survive some big hits. I didn't run bane because despair got changed so much. At some level there is a benefit to use enfeeble and temp chains depending on the gear since dot builds don't instaphase bosses anyway. Especially since ed and vaal blight tend to be the bread and butter dps skills for chaos dot.
Thank you for all the content you've provided on this build. Looks super dupe. Question: is the microstutter/screen freeze happen often when you're clearing mobs?
Regarding Frostblinking out of mob packs: the skill does AoE hit around you both where you start the skill and where you move to. If there are enemies around you before using it and are hit, then cooldown is still decreased as they were hit.
I don't understand why Herald of Ash is working here. "Providing fire damage based on your physical damage". Where does the physical damage come from? And overkill by DoT also seems not to work, if I check the wiki. Thx.

I am approaching level 70, and wondering how you keep Grace, Banner, Vitality, Ash, and Sand all up? I have taken the mana reservation nodes, and have the node to make Grace take 25% less mana reservation. I don't need them all now as I am killing everything super quick, but just want to understand how this might happen later on. I am probably missing some gear or maybe something else? Well your excitement for this build got me to try it, but I'm a little confused why the skill tree goes into the four "dual wield cast speed" skills around caster mastery when the weapon is a staff? Everything I can find is that 2 hand is not dual wield?
i dont know how possible this is, but why not use Deaths Oath armour, have 6 sockets for it and you'd use a staff instead with Bane in it? 6support DO should handle basic mobs, so thats less casting for you. Or am i thinking about this wrong?
Im wondering if i can use base of this build, edit it a little bit for 3.25 and have global chance to poison, then pop up vaal breach to nuke bosses? :3
Hey bro I am running this build right now and having a blast! On the evasion parts for helm, gloves, and boots to give you the extra spell suppression throigh your tree, can it be like evasion with es or Armour or do the pieces have to be straight evasion only?
Great as always :P I leveled up char for this build to 95 in 1 day, low dps for now, I mean clear is nice but single target must be improved on my char. Btw, can you show some bosses examples? How it looks with your DPS?

Love the build. What auras should I run for Hardcore? Is it worth dropping Malevolence for Determination? I was planning on doing the standard Determ/Grace/Defiance banner but I'm worried my damage will be atrocious until I can get some insanely strong (aka lucky) gear.
You're not picking up any armor nodes so Determination won't be useful. This build has some great defensive layers already including Grace, Vitality, Defiance Banner, Flesh and Stone, and Temporal Chains and that's just your bread and butter setup. Armor only helps when you're hit and since they're typically blind, slowed, and you're dodging it's not going to give you much utility. Note that blind, slow, and dodge also work great in concert. They're hitting you less often and you're dodging more, so you get this nice hidden multiplier on your defenses. If you follow the build you won't be hurting for damage. Bane on a 4-link feels strong from the moment you get it all the way to maps. You don't need insane gear at all and I'm confident you could league start this in Ruthless. Chaos damage in and of itself is strong and damage over time means really good DPS uptime. It's much easier to survive when you can focus entirely on movement while the damage is being done in the background. I think you'll just find this to be a good HC SSF build as is. I'd encourage you to give it a try.
One thing I'll add is you can get enough armour with hybrid bases. I do reccomend using determination in hardcore just for a bit more phys mitigation, I had 25k with flasks up before I went pure ghost shrouds. Look for flat mitigation on gear, conversion mods, and maybe even a chaos golem.
@@abebuckingham8198 You don't need any armor nodes for Determination to be useful, you just need hybrid Armor/Evasion bases. I've also utilized Iron Reflexes in the past. But having been a longtime Essence Drain player, I know well for a fact that a 4L is not enough to take on any sort of late-game activities without dying. This is not the type of build that is able to stand in place while casting blight and facetanking bosses. Subtractum thanks for the video and your input here.
Yo I’m decently new I’m not doing end game stuff I just hit act 4 and I for one love bane I love the chaos hex occultist style how can I without being a league players etc just pump into it I got a 4 link atm highest and I just wanna dump a bit idk what a lot of this stuff is yet but what’s a good way to make bane go ham on stuff cause atm I just use quest reward hex’s under it and if I don’t have a reaper to take blows I’m toast just takes to long atm

@@Aryylaane I'm changing stuff around a lot, the soulrend change was based on an idea I had in the shower yesterday. Since 21/20 SR is only 20c right now and we have the +1 proj gem craft on gloves we get really solid damage out of it (with no ramp, unlike Blight). For more top end damage Blight is just better but SR gives us better overall uptime and I'm really enjoying it. The big thing is just upgrading your character and getting used to the playstyle. I'm currently over 15M dps with my skills combined and bosses just melt.
I play it in ssf only thing I am missing is single target damage which is honestly understandable because i don't have a great luck on gear and i was mostly fixing my defenses for now.
What is the most reliable way to farm chaos or divine orbs? I’m new and trying to get into the game but I feel like just mindlessly running maps without a clear direction is making me lose interest. I’m using your cane version of this but I want to switch into this version.
I moved from the staff version to this and I am really tight on mana. often times i cant even cast to keep up with an large blight fight. any suggestions?
Is the build still viable if you remove the channeling component of the build? You only use bane when you are mapping and use all three chaos spells against bosses if you want to have maximum damage? Ist that correct?
The final iteration of this build actually used Soulrend instead of Blight for comfier bossing. Technically lower damage but overall better uptime. It also double dips with Essence Drain in the +3 proj gloves. Try it out!
Using this during the campaign and think I might've misunderstood how it all works. The enemies which i apply bane to take damage over time, the hexes such as dispair/punishment are spread via Hex Bloom, but the damage over time from bane doesn't seem to spread? Is this correct? I have the first ascendency and have specced into profane bloom so far, Level 39.
hm, i rebuild it now. i am using mageblood and could achieve 70k armor, 100% chance to supress spell damage, 90% physical attack mitigation and nearly 5k life. i use brass dome and all res is 80%, chaos res capped. but honestly: it feels squishy. everything seems to be dangerous now. if its expedition mobs, harbingers, eldritch or rare mobs. everything can kill you in seconds. ok, i played RF before and was super tanky, but i didnt expect this bane version so glass canon like. i run juiced t16.
I mean, at this point it has nothing to do with the build. You have to be missing something to feel that squishy. I have less than half of that and rarely die. Not sure what else to say except record your gameplay and get folks to help you out in the discord? With those stats you should almost never die, doesn't matter what the skill is. That's not even "the build" at that point.
@@subtractem okay, i thought the same way - i must have missed something. thanks for answering. i played bane many times before and it felt quite tanky. i cant really tell, whats the problem. i am also shock immune, immune to corrupted blood. but i realised that those blue lighting beams from eldritch mobs kill me instant. whats that damage type? spell dmg i guess, but iam capped in avoiding it … could it be that i need more evasion? swap evasion for armor? i play on console so sadly i have no discord to ask for help.
build is super comfortable and insane, but one question. when i enable the ghost dance node on the skill tree (the ghost shrouds) my energy shield drops significantly. i know this is because my evastion rating is really low compared to my energy shield. but how do you increase your evasion while keeping up with other stats e.g. life, etc
If only I knew how to craft. Shit has gotten so confusing for the average player. Build looks really cool, but I would have to find all of those items on trade, which is likely impossible/overpriced.

First time league starting Bane, and honest to god its a blast so far, no pun intended.

I'm tempted to give this a shot never having played Bane/chaos DoT myself. The explosions look so satisfying and the gameplay looks so comfy.

Started PC and did not have a great time. Switched to this on day 3 and enjoying it much, much more. Saved the league for me :)

Back a league or 2 ago when I played your bane build I put an Awakened Spell Cascade on Bane, and you want to talk about clear? Ya it lowered the damage but.. holy cow did it have a massive area of coverage.

Started with your build (it's really comfortable) and easy moved to t16, but!
Last variation with hexbloom (I used your pob with minimal changes: big bane radius (max radius) + 3 hexes + empower + hexbloom + profane bloom) kills any game instance I tried when farming blight or blight encounters. 40+ mobs affected by this in the same moment gives 5 second lag, and then disconnect and your map instance lost when you'r back. Works for any server. Tried on several PC's with top configurations and different providers, so it's not a local problem.
I replaced hexbloom with controlled destruction and everything's fine. JFYI.
Also, I see that your POB config gives not enough mana to use 3*50% auras and cast something in the same time even with E 4lvl gem. So it looks like enlighten 4 is extremely expensive (now its' near 9divs) just to have a bit more comfort with mana with the same auras. (grace, determ/malevolence, vitality, banner).
I can fit flesh, male, grace, and vitality with this build. The part that makes it viable is actually the -7 cost to non-channeling on both rings. You should end up with around ~30 mana left if you follow the tree and gear correctly. Which is enough for bane, blight, etc...
damn im doing a bane/blight build as my first ever poe character and this might be a nice lil pivot with the herald of ash and hexbloom.

Love the build so far. Have you tested the new jewel „The Balance of Terror“? I wonder if it would work with Bane which would be really nice but I’m not sure if it would work in kinda new to Bane.

i've been playing this build since middle of last week after my first league starter turned out to be bait.. lvl 93 and loving it. I'm having much worse RNG luck than you did with harvest and essence crafting gear though. probably 10k yellow harvest juice into a shield and have not once landed on both spell damage and +1 chaos gems together and even when I hit spell damage alone its like a terrible low tier roll
I find the build to be very fun but I struggle with survivability. Even with 100% spell suppress and like 5600 life I just sometimes get deleted.
Is there a cosmetic that causes the chain explosions to look like this? My explosions are these tiny purple exposions from Profane bloom

Enfeeble can be a decent curse to use to survive some big hits. I didn't run bane because despair got changed so much. At some level there is a benefit to use enfeeble and temp chains depending on the gear since dot builds don't instaphase bosses anyway. Especially since ed and vaal blight tend to be the bread and butter dps skills for chaos dot.
Yeah the final version I went for a delve curse chest and ran 4 curses with enfeeble. It was great!
I loved the babe builds so much. How is bane/ed/blight nowadays? Are the transfigured gems helping?

Thank you for all the content you've provided on this build. Looks super dupe. Question: is the microstutter/screen freeze happen often when you're clearing mobs?
Regarding Frostblinking out of mob packs: the skill does AoE hit around you both where you start the skill and where you move to. If there are enemies around you before using it and are hit, then cooldown is still decreased as they were hit.
Yeah I just don't like dealing with any of that. Particularly in a hectic boss fight where I might want to blink multiple times not close to them.

I don't understand why Herald of Ash is working here. "Providing fire damage based on your physical damage". Where does the physical damage come from? And overkill by DoT also seems not to work, if I check the wiki. Thx.

I am approaching level 70, and wondering how you keep Grace, Banner, Vitality, Ash, and Sand all up? I have taken the mana reservation nodes, and have the node to make Grace take 25% less mana reservation. I don't need them all now as I am killing everything super quick, but just want to understand how this might happen later on. I am probably missing some gear or maybe something else? Well your excitement for this build got me to try it, but I'm a little confused why the skill tree goes into the four "dual wield cast speed" skills around caster mastery when the weapon is a staff? Everything I can find is that 2 hand is not dual wield?
That's just the early leveling tree that uses wands since they're easy to get in the acts.
i dont know how possible this is, but why not use Deaths Oath armour, have 6 sockets for it and you'd use a staff instead with Bane in it? 6support DO should handle basic mobs, so thats less casting for you. Or am i thinking about this wrong?
Im wondering if i can use base of this build, edit it a little bit for 3.25 and have global chance to poison, then pop up vaal breach to nuke bosses? :3

Hey bro I am running this build right now and having a blast! On the evasion parts for helm, gloves, and boots to give you the extra spell suppression throigh your tree, can it be like evasion with es or Armour or do the pieces have to be straight evasion only?
Hybrid is fine but suppression is harder to roll on them. Fractured bases help a lot for that.

Great as always :P I leveled up char for this build to 95 in 1 day, low dps for now, I mean clear is nice but single target must be improved on my char. Btw, can you show some bosses examples? How it looks with your DPS?

I use shield for more defense and mobility. Staff for more raw damage. I think staff is better for pure bossing but wand better for anything else.

Love the build. What auras should I run for Hardcore? Is it worth dropping Malevolence for Determination? I was planning on doing the standard Determ/Grace/Defiance banner but I'm worried my damage will be atrocious until I can get some insanely strong (aka lucky) gear.
You're not picking up any armor nodes so Determination won't be useful. This build has some great defensive layers already including Grace, Vitality, Defiance Banner, Flesh and Stone, and Temporal Chains and that's just your bread and butter setup. Armor only helps when you're hit and since they're typically blind, slowed, and you're dodging it's not going to give you much utility. Note that blind, slow, and dodge also work great in concert. They're hitting you less often and you're dodging more, so you get this nice hidden multiplier on your defenses.
If you follow the build you won't be hurting for damage. Bane on a 4-link feels strong from the moment you get it all the way to maps. You don't need insane gear at all and I'm confident you could league start this in Ruthless. Chaos damage in and of itself is strong and damage over time means really good DPS uptime. It's much easier to survive when you can focus entirely on movement while the damage is being done in the background.
I think you'll just find this to be a good HC SSF build as is. I'd encourage you to give it a try.
One thing I'll add is you can get enough armour with hybrid bases. I do reccomend using determination in hardcore just for a bit more phys mitigation, I had 25k with flasks up before I went pure ghost shrouds. Look for flat mitigation on gear, conversion mods, and maybe even a chaos golem.
@@abebuckingham8198 You don't need any armor nodes for Determination to be useful, you just need hybrid Armor/Evasion bases. I've also utilized Iron Reflexes in the past. But having been a longtime Essence Drain player, I know well for a fact that a 4L is not enough to take on any sort of late-game activities without dying. This is not the type of build that is able to stand in place while casting blight and facetanking bosses. Subtractum thanks for the video and your input here.

Yo I’m decently new I’m not doing end game stuff I just hit act 4 and I for one love bane I love the chaos hex occultist style how can I without being a league players etc just pump into it I got a 4 link atm highest and I just wanna dump a bit idk what a lot of this stuff is yet but what’s a good way to make bane go ham on stuff cause atm I just use quest reward hex’s under it and if I don’t have a reaper to take blows I’m toast just takes to long atm
Can this build still boss on a roughly 1 Div budget? Hit a wall with SST and looking to change gears.

@@Aryylaane I'm changing stuff around a lot, the soulrend change was based on an idea I had in the shower yesterday. Since 21/20 SR is only 20c right now and we have the +1 proj gem craft on gloves we get really solid damage out of it (with no ramp, unlike Blight).
For more top end damage Blight is just better but SR gives us better overall uptime and I'm really enjoying it. The big thing is just upgrading your character and getting used to the playstyle. I'm currently over 15M dps with my skills combined and bosses just melt.

I play it in ssf only thing I am missing is single target damage which is honestly understandable because i don't have a great luck on gear and i was mostly fixing my defenses for now.

What is the most reliable way to farm chaos or divine orbs? I’m new and trying to get into the game but I feel like just mindlessly running maps without a clear direction is making me lose interest. I’m using your cane version of this but I want to switch into this version.
I moved from the staff version to this and I am really tight on mana. often times i cant even cast to keep up with an large blight fight. any suggestions?

You only use bane when you are mapping and use all three chaos spells against bosses if you want to have maximum damage? Ist that correct?
The final iteration of this build actually used Soulrend instead of Blight for comfier bossing. Technically lower damage but overall better uptime. It also double dips with Essence Drain in the +3 proj gloves. Try it out!

Using this during the campaign and think I might've misunderstood how it all works. The enemies which i apply bane to take damage over time, the hexes such as dispair/punishment are spread via Hex Bloom, but the damage over time from bane doesn't seem to spread? Is this correct? I have the first ascendency and have specced into profane bloom so far, Level 39.

hm, i rebuild it now. i am using mageblood and could achieve 70k armor, 100% chance to supress spell damage, 90% physical attack mitigation and nearly 5k life. i use brass dome and all res is 80%, chaos res capped. but honestly: it feels squishy. everything seems to be dangerous now. if its expedition mobs, harbingers, eldritch or rare mobs. everything can kill you in seconds. ok, i played RF before and was super tanky, but i didnt expect this bane version so glass canon like.
i run juiced t16.
I mean, at this point it has nothing to do with the build. You have to be missing something to feel that squishy. I have less than half of that and rarely die. Not sure what else to say except record your gameplay and get folks to help you out in the discord?
With those stats you should almost never die, doesn't matter what the skill is. That's not even "the build" at that point.

could it be that i need more evasion? swap evasion for armor?

build is super comfortable and insane, but one question.
when i enable the ghost dance node on the skill tree (the ghost shrouds) my energy shield drops significantly. i know this is because my evastion rating is really low compared to my energy shield. but how do you increase your evasion while keeping up with other stats e.g. life, etc
Make use you use grace with ghost dance and use evasion based armour.
