Hey Tiago, I have issues with short term memory as well. The sensation of diminishment as time rolls forward gets heavier and heavier and, frankly, really bums me out. Your story really spoke to me. I see a glimmer of hope! Definitely gonna give SB a chance. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have been following your work for years now but this is the first time I heard the back story of it. I hope that you no longer have any kind of pain. Very inspiring story aside from your brilliant approaches and frameworks. Thanks for continuously sharing your knowledge
I'm so happy this video was recommended to me. I research so much and have notes stored everywhere... I'm going to build a second brain! Also, Tiago is so well-spoken. You can tell that his mind is clear, perhaps because he uses this thorough note-taking technique.
I can sure identify with you! I take copious notes at times that I end up tossing even though at the time I felt that I was learning so much. I guess for awhile I was more of a hoarder of my notes.
I have been doing this for years. If there's one tip I can give is: it's not a diary. Don't treat it as a diary. I've tried diaries and I can't keep up with them. Think of this as a book, or more precisely, a knowledge base. No note is set in stone, they can all be changed, moved, or deleted to fit a bigger picture.
I personally use scrapbooks in construction, collecting ideas for work types, photographing materials and barcodes, recording dimensions and other data. but the idea of full support in all areas is quite interesting. Thanks
It is great to see someone has written what software engineers are doing already a long time. By the way in M&E - (Media and Entertainment) they use the CODE already from in the mid of the last century - Camera (Capture) - ingesting - getting the content into the media asset management system in an organized manner and then it is edited (D) and broadcasted (Exposed). The para stuff is a good acronym for something software engineers do for almost more than 40 years. They work all on projects, area's, resources - in the beginning they stored it in directory structures and when the project was finished they archived it. It are the same software engineers that created the tools to facilitate this. And it is a good remark to say that software engineers are front-runners because they have to meta-think about the problems they have to solve. Personally I prefer the tool 'TheBrain' as it really can capture easily information of all different sources and can interlink idea's and information in a visual manner which all other tools can't.
Thank you Tiago for this great presentation. Some of your thoughts are resonated with my personal experience. I tried to record my everyday thoughts before but didn't carry on. Your sharing will definitely motivate me to continue from where I left off.

Zettelkasten is a german word which translates to 'note box'. The definition explains what material to work with and the filing system used. Let's break it down into its parts: A 'zettel' is a slip or note of paper.
I'm a fan of Niklas Luhmann's note taking system, even though I do it digitally, instead of analogue. I don't use any of the usual note-taking software, as I don't like the dependency - they'll end up changing something I don't like, which is what Evernote did, so I just use vscode with the FOAM extension (if that ever breaks then I still have my notes as they were) for backlinking and showing a graph of my notes. I do use his naming system, so my notes end up like "a2c2.md", not ordered by the regular title, like with a second brain, because files are always "ordered".
We need to understand that being at the top of the pyramid of creation means that everything we do trickles down the structure, from top to bottom. When it reaches the bottom, the inanimate level of reality, from which everything grows, it changes it. If we ooze ill-will, it creates negative changes throughout the system, which manifest in increasingly extreme climatic and geological events. In other words, when human relationships go out of balance, everything goes out of balance. When our relations become extreme, everything becomes extreme; when we become violent, everything becomes violent. Each summer, the ramifications of the linkage between our relations and our world become more extreme, until we acknowledge that everything that exists, exists in a connected, hierarchical system and that whoever is at the top determines the state of the rest of the system. It is not as if previously, we were better people than we are today. It is simply that there were fewer people, and therefore fewer elements that exude ill will. Also, relationships between people in the past were less toxic than they are today. While there are fewer wars today than ever, the levels of suspicion and alienation between people are skyrocketing, to the point where people can no longer trust their own family members. As a result, wars between countries are rarer than ever, but divorce rates, domestic violence, and violence in the community, are at an all-time high. Even the internet, which we invented purportedly in order to connect people, is being used to abuse, deceive, and exploit people. The world-wide-web proves that everything we create, we use against others. When there is such a negative element in a system, and that element is at the top of the system, how can the entire system not go awry? Therefore, if we want the weather to cool, the sea-level to drop, and the storms to subside, we must cool the fire and calm the storms between us. Mutual concern, mutual responsibility, or at least the knowledge that we are dependent on each other, are necessary in order to restore balance in our world at all levels, from the ground we walk on to the hatred in our hearts .
@tiago - what if you do not have access to Evernote when you in a meeting, then how would you capture the notes at that point and how do you make sure that note is transferred to the Evernote?
I also use an A5 Supernote (digital notebook) during meetings which uploads notes to Dropbox and then I drag into Evernote. If you use real paper then you can take a picture of the meeting notes and then pull that image into Evernote. The only problem with the image is that Evernote cannot do a search for a keyword or Tag. My advice is to move to a digital note take system while sitting in a meeting, whether that is microsoft word or apple notes (which I use in the gym to track workouts) or anything other than paper. It took me awhile but I eventually phased paper out of my life for note taking.
caebemazepine is a pretty routine, well-known old medication used for neuropathic pain (like trigeminal neuralgia) and focal seizures (only rarely for schizophrenia or bipolar where other meds are used more commonly).
