Great video, and I like how you keep your videos short, to the point and very clear. One of the best wing chun channels on youtube from what I've seen.
ive just started my journey of wing chun, before i did taekwondo and got to black belt, but wing chun seems more practical and would actully work in a real situation
I've been advocating for using this headgear and no gloves for many years at least 20 I love the I think it's called super brand headgear are super something or another. Formulated by the Japanese full contact group that does bare-knuckle full contact. Anyway back to wing Chun chi SAU with this on sparring with this on this will lead to some real knowledge and some tougher fist.remember with the chain punching the footwork. the footwork I've called ( preferred parking ) where you park your front leg where it makes it uncomfortable for them to stand or mount a counter. and then you push that unbalanced position forward. until they fall over backwards...everyone gets good at what they know but what Bruce Lee taught us is. you got to spar people that are doing different things than you . to make sure it works... Good luck on your endeavors you're doing great I'm a subscribed RUclipsr for you
Funny they put these out but they're never going to put any more out I can't really go to Australia I live in America it's a problem all these kung fu schools around the world they don't even have online it sucks not everyone can afford to go there Australia or anywhere else they need to start online class just like the real class I'll pay full price
The only problem is this does not work against boxers and skilled fighters. You have to step to the outside of the attacking arm using an angled step in, to close the distance, and a body rotation square to not only pull you away from the attack, but put you out of reach of his counter, the hook.
Thanks for your comment. We teach students to do exactly what you have written once they have learned the basic step, parry and punch (the one shown in this video). We kept this episode simple because it's the first one of the series and we wanted to teach the basic principles behind the movement first. We'll definitely be covering angled stepping in this situation and more in a future episode, so look out for that one.
Agreed. This works more as a surprise effect on an unsuspecting fighter. Still, effective nevertheless. But yeah, Wing Chun becomes really unstoppable once angled stepping is being implemented at the same time.
first of all, this type of guard presented in the video seems totally useless. What is this guard for? a side kick? This kinda position is extremely advantageous for the wing chun dude, because he's basically standing at the side of his opponent. He can do all sorts of thing from this point, because his opponent can only use one arm for attack and defence! this ideal position is why fighter circle around each other, trying to get to the side as much as possible before closing in. if you actually want to punch your opponent, you have to turn frontside towards them. Then you have both of your hands in the guard, not just one. The opponent won't know which arm you are going to use to attack until you do it! And if he counters your one hand with his one hand, and going to use his other hand to punch you, he's gonna have to deal with your other arms as well! Second, when opponent moves, you are going to move as well. if he charges on you straight, you can step to the side, or keep backing up, keeping the distance. None of these matters are faced in this video.
Very well explained..practical
