If you want this to sound as good as possible: If you use the optical input, always put the volume to max on the client(Windows, audio equipment etc) to make sure no detail is lost before it gets to the speaker and let the integrated amplifier handle the volume. It also sounds a LOT better when using the digital connection.
I got these for Christmas after a long time looking at various deferent ones. they have a great sound them. I have them connected to my PC/phone via Bluetooth and wired to the TV. I would give them 4.5 out of 5. they lose .5 due to the remote being badly designed with poor lettering difficult to see. you can learn where the buttons are after time I guess. if the latter doesn't bother you then buy them. they are good.
Hi I have been using them for some time now and find them excellent for bass tracks and drums. Only complaint I have is the remote which is a bit fiddly cannot really find fault with the sound quality and build.
It is killing me to know what song you used to test the speakers at 4:23. I am buying these speakers soon and i would love to be able to hear that song on them. Thanks!
It is much appreciated, even if you cant find it. I'm on the FMA right now and having a blast on my Altec Lansing 251 5.1 system, they are curiously good sounding for what they seem. I am going to get the Edifier S1000DB for dedicated audiophile speakers, and still use my Altec surround sound for my computer as i have been. Maybe give one , or both, of those speakers a look on your channel eventually? thanks!
Hi I might have a look at a few more speakers later on if I get the chance was thinking about new speakers for a desktop pc, will have to think about what to get! These are downstairs so need something smaller. I'm quite happy with them sound is excellent
They are very good, but you want to be in the right EQ mode 1:21, the dynamic boosts the bass/high frequencies, with classic giving a more neutral balanced sound. So of course classic is much better for instrumental music, and I like the sound from them. I do think purely for classical the Yamaha HS5's are one of the best I've heard for that type of much, better separation of instruments (even with tweaking) and a slightly more natural sound. Hope that helps
Can you test how much power does "stand-by" uses compared to "on"? Can I leave these speakers "stand-by" for a long time? Also interested to know does it have auto "stand-by" after some time if bluetooth device is disconnected?
I have not compared them directly but a friend does have the KEF's and they sound amazing, but you need a really good amp to get the best out of them. So no the Edifiers don't match them, and I wouldn't expect them to at the price. The KEF's are in a different price league, though as you know prices go up way more than that for some speakers. I think the Edifiers are good, very decent for the price point..but if I were buying now I would probably go with the Yamaha HS range the one's I listened to have better separation, and a more natural tone. The Edifier is still good though for it's price range
HI Mr Baz, I have got the Edifier R2000 DB and am very happy with it for its price and performance. I am also using with ASUS Xonar Essence STD Audio Sound Card but I do need some help with fine tuning the parameters on the Xonar Essence Audio Centre on producing the best sound for music like soft rock, Jazz etc If you could, please help me on this.. I have might it be because i only just got these speakers today and that they are new and have to be ran in? i have put the bass all the way up and still not much bass how did yours sound when you got them out of the box?
What source are you using Bluetooth or wired? You can try adjusting the input EQ if you can. I'm pretty happy with the bass and overall sound on these (for their size) out of the box good and improved over time what type of music are you playing. I get pretty damn good sound out my Yamaha NX-B55 pc speakers for bass too and they are much smaller
I'm using Optical connection to my iMac and its probably because they need ran in but then again my old speakers was Z906 Logitech speakers which have very good bass with a 8 inch sub but the sound from the satellites was not the best.
The only negatives I'm hearing from multiple sources are on the remote. Any idea if a universal remote could be programed to control these speakers? Also, I'm guessing the remote is IR and the receiver is probably in the little LED housing?
Hi I don't like the remote much it works but it's small (easy to misplace) and I'm not a fan of the lithium cell type remotes. It does the job though - looks to me like a normal IR remote so you should be able to map the functions to a programmable one no problem. You can control the speakers via the back knob ie source/volume etc. Don't have any complaints with the build or sound. the IR sensor is in the circular LED area as you say
Being honest the design whilst it looks nice, is a bit of a fingerprint magnet, ie if there are kids around etc. Dust again the side panels pick it up faster than a non glossy finish would Easy enough to clean with a microfibre cloth
@Mr Baz Reviews How responsive is the remote? The reason I ask is because I've had bad experiences using little remotes like that in the past and many of 'em weren't very responsive at all. I had little remote like that to control a bluetooth car stereo I had and even me pointing directly to it from like 6 inches away, me sitting at the driver seat, that remote's signal wouldn't respond quickly enough, I had to press the volume buttons repeatedly in order to turn the volume up or down. So I wonder how responsive the signal for that tiny remote is for those speakers.
It works alright, as in responsiveness. But I'm not a fan of these cheap remotes. Considering these are not super budget speakers, I think it lets things down a bit if I'm honest. Not that I'd want a big huge remote at all, but something slimline and AAA cells will do just fine. It wouldn't stop me getting the speakers (they do sound good) and you can adjust things via the back knob too.
@@MrBazReviews Thanks for your quick response. I'm very interested on the responsiveness of the remote itself because I'm gonna be using it a lot if I buy these speakers. I prefer controlling the volume from across the living room instead of getting up and going behind the right speaker to turn the volume up and down. If you say the remote signal responds well when the buttons pushed then that's great, that's what I needed to know. Thank You!
