  • When Montana filmmaker Casey Anderson discovered mountain lion tracks outside of this home in Paradise Valley, little did he know he was forming a unique relationship with this elusive creature.
Finding the tracks sparked a year-long obsession with the adult mountain lion and her cubs who are hunting in his backyard.
Using the latest high-tech tools to capture a rare view into the lives of mountain lions in the wild, Anderson tracks their every move and even ventures into their den.
Anderson appeared on Sunday's "Face The State" program on MTN to promote his new special on the Smithsonian Channel that premieres Wednesday, March 14th, at 8 p.m.

Good interviewer , he was very engaging and seemed extremely interested with every word from Anderson . The best thing Anderson said was, " They`re an animal, they have emotion " We need to remember this, all animals have emotions, all animals are sentient. It's the reason why I stopped drinking milk after I found out that as soon as a calf is born it's taken from its mother which totally goes against her natural instincts and you can't tell me that she doesn't feel the loss

As a hunter im not a huge fan of mountain lions, I do believe that they are a part of the circle of life and are needed and I actually have a lot more respect after watching this

your ungulate population is more under threat from man and development than any lion, in California where there is no lion hunting pressure the deer population has stabilized for the last 30 years, the reason I mentioned ungulates because is because hunters always blame them for hard to find ungulates, you should probably move to Wisconsin

@@twostop6895 actually I would like to disagree with you on the california lion issue, my family own a ranch in Northern California, the deer population is not stable or doing as good as before we protected a predator, I can send pictures of numerous lion kills on deer and calfs also lots of trail camera pictures. We also banned using hounds on bears, this also is affecting deer and elk numbers. Look at what the wolves have done in Idaho! They need controlled not protecting.

@@dustinswartz7540 you are lucky it was only hounds, California also almost outright banned black bear hunting as well, all theses predator protections are payback for 19th and 20th century predator massacre, the majority of Americans love predators, east of the Mississippi where there are no lions or only maybe a few dispersing males overpopulated white tailed deer are destroying forest

What can be cooler than filming a family of Cougars. Virtually priceless to be able to learn about a very powerful and mysterious large cat of North America and in park's in Patagonia, South America where they hunt Guanacos a relative of the camel.

Amazing story. Thank you so much. I'm sure the pumas appreciate you respecting her life and the way they live. If you get a chance go to The Puma Messi the puma on his RUclips channel. Thanks a million for showing the world the true story of an innocent Puma minding their own business and caring for the kitten babies. The brain was studied by scientists and found they have a large brain and they're intelligent. Yes, they have emotions. See "Messi the Puma" on RUclips.
