I love the criticisms. Nice to see a watch channel that doesn't pull the punches and brings forth real world usage examples. Pelagos seems like a no-brainer when compared side by side.

I really appreciate the comment and feedback. Thank you. Yes truly interesting watches, choices and hidden value :) Sadly it just comes down to marketing dollars.

I agree with the 3 points! My father has a Rolex Explorer II and I’m about to get a first gen Pelagos. I’ll mention all these 3 points with him to have some fun 😃

Even though I am not a fan of watches that are hyped by everybody, I gotta admit feeling somewhat jealous about your “Batgirl”. ;) Congrats! (Rolex would be one of my favorite brands if nobody payed attention to them - their design and heritage are objectively without equal)

Thank you Tobias. I understand. I am sometimes myself put off by the brand and the AD relationships. Just got lucky with the Batman. But then there are so many brands Tudor included that offer incredible watches and amazing value if we can ignore the hype train ! After all it’s a hobby mostly. Who needs a watch to tell the time really ;)

The lumed bezel point about the GMT is a good point, however I'd like to point out that the infill in the Rolex ceramic bezels is I believe platinum. Platinum is a noble and very expensive metal, I'm not sure how valuable Chromalight or Superluminova is. Rolex (arguably) doesn't make tool watches anymore, they are more a luxury brand (actually, probably, the most famous one in the world), so it's all in these little details I think.

Completely agree. The market in which they are playing functionality is secondary to brand perception and placement. The lack of features has no impact on the demand for their pieces.

absolutely agree, Rolex doesn't have to do anything but they SHOULD really. I think both Tudor and Rolex can up their adoption of technology a bit faster, at the moment they are top dog when it comes to sport watches but its not inconceivable people could become bored of them if they carry on being so conservative. I like to see Tudor really push the envelope in terms of designs and technology, whilst Rolex adopting some of these technologies that have proven successful and popular, not going wild but just take a couple shots of caffeine

Totally. Rolex makes a great product and so does Tudor but particularly since some of these technologies have been available for a while, it is time for Rolex and Tudor to update their catalogue and not limit ideas to one product.
