This is absolutely incredible! The Special Relationship between The United States and the United Kingdom is 100% REAL and as strong as ever. Soldiers from 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland have taken part in the funeral of 13 soldiers killed in a battle during the American revolutionary war in South Carolina nearly 250 years ago. Their remains were discovered by archaeologists last year at the site of the Battle of Camden in South Carolina. One of the soldiers was from the British 71st Regiment of Foot, Fraser's Highlanders, a Scottish regiment formed for the Revolutionary War. This shows such honor, respect and love for and from both Countries. It is truly a sight to see and left us with an even bigger mark of admiration on our hearts! Thank you SO much for watching! Remember, the British were being Loyal to their King, & saw the others as rebels. The US soldiers were fighting for a new patriotism, based on British principals of freedom.
Both were right, & both were wrong. It was an unfortunate
    breakdown in understanding.
Now again friends & allies forever. Peace & Love.

Very true. The US soldiers were fighting for their freedom from foreign control. The British solders were fighting because they were told to. It was their duty. I don't think our British soldiers cared if the US gained independence or not. They were sacrificed for Political reasons. Yes they did their duty, but not for belief.

Let's not forget nearly 25,000 Americans fought for the British as loyalist troops, and after the war 100,000 left the colonies. Also controversial for the current USA many escaped slaves fought as soldiers on the British side, not throwing shade here just showing how history tends to get written by the winners of a conflict, and narratives are very rarely black and white.

As an Australian, I realise that this battle occurred in a time before the first Europeans arrived here, and yet I get the emotion. Every year on ANZAC day I watch the Gallipoli dawn service. During this, an army officer from Turkey (the ANZAC’s adversaries of WW1) reads a quote in Turkish and then in English from a letter that modern Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He sent this letter to the mothers of ANZACs who died there. I pray that we can one day reach a time that we can think like this before going to war.
"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore, rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."

@@margaretbinnie6600 Sadly so. they were different times back then, in pretty much every way, but still, when I and my Wife were at Gallipoli, She, first in 2002, then both of us in 2003/2004, we of course observed and found significant aspects of the commemorations each 25 April that is never mentioned in the Australian press, to their miserable and everlasting shame, and it is this. I know of no other nations, where here, at Gallipoli, the young of our three Nations, Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand, come together, meet, mix, and as I clearly saw, keep alive and affirm their bonds, both to their own Nations, and most uniquely, to each other. Despite what is dishonestly said, and NOT said, about the Young people of those three nations, particuIarly the Press and media. I saw future history being made each time I saw them gathering, mixing, animatedly gesturing and talking, laughing as they mixed. I saw true Friendship started on those former battlefields, may it ever thus be so and continue. One last point. When the time for ceremony and rememberance arrived, we saw nothing but the utmost complete, genuine Respect, acknowledgement and observance by these same young people, which of course, none of the press made mention of.

Saw the Forces TV video the other day, so moving. Even during the Revolutionary War there were strong ties between us, Britain was divided between support and opposition, and the likes of Thomas Paine, the most vocal advocate for independence, was of course born and lived in Britain until 1774. In Parliament at the start of the Stamp Act Riots, former Prime Minister William Pitt said in Parliament that he “delighted that the Americans had resisted.” Similarly John Adams and Thomas Jefferson visited Worcester in England (in the 1790s) where the first and last battles of our Civil Wars were fought and declared it “sacred ground where Liberty had been fought for”. And of course there is a statue of George Washington in Trafalgar Square in the heart of London. Thank you for the respect and admiration you always show, we feel the same way about our cousins across the Atlantic 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

What I find amazing is that I live in Lugoff, SC .. literally five miles from Camden proper .. and only two miles from the city limits. My town is what is an unincorporated community and "Census-designated place". I need to get out more ... as I had no idea this had happened. I have been to the battlefield several times and fully intend to visit the cemetery when completed. On a side note, after Desert Storm I was visiting Connecticut with my tank commander and we visited a town that had a main road though the center of the town that split around a small cemetery containing British soldiers .. a squad I believe .. that were honored there. It struck me at the time that this simple act of preserving the little cemetery in the center of the town was a very special thing.

Thus the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) was formed. They look after all the British and Commonwealth Cemeteries around the world. In this case it would make sense that he be buried there as where would his body go to as we have no Armed Forces Cemetery in the country.

This is a wonderful and Patriotic sign of respect to the fallen. When I see this, it brings to mind the words of Jamal Attaturk, 1n 1928, to the mothers of the British and Australian troops whom were lost at Gallipoli, Suvla Bay (and surrounds) and remain buried, or have no known grave, due to that conflict on that sovereign soil. All soldiers whom have fallen irrespective of their cause, deserve to be buried with dignity, They have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their respective countries and it is our duty I feel, to see this occur.

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives ... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours ... You, the mothers who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.

The United Kingdom and the United States of America are like siblings. They constantly poke fun at each other, the Brits more harshly because we’re built that way 😂😂 but when anybody else picks on the other one we join forces and go after them! People can poke fun at us and say we don’t have this strong bond between our two countries, but when the crap hits the fan, America knows the United Kingdom has their back and the United Kingdom knows the United States of America has our back!!

That reminds me so much of the reburial of Richard III at Leicester Cathedral. So much work was put into tracing his ancestors and including Plantagenet family members (Benedict Cumberbatch was a relation!) in the service. They used a lot of the military honours of the time to honour a King who was lost for so long.

To Natasha and Debbie. I have been watching your show for many months and have been very impressed with your love of the UK and the special relationship that exists between the USA and the UK. As a UK citizen (I was born in Scotland), I am very proud of my heritage and of our armed forces. In my lifetime I have visited many, many countries and seen many different cultures. However, the special relationship between our two countries is the one that makes me most proud. I have been to the USA many times and have to say the warmth of genuine welcomes from US citizens is one that I cherish. There may be a lot wrong with our countries but we, along with our other cherished allies in Europe and around th globe, have given us safety and security in a world that is on a knife edge. Long may this continue. Thank you for your reaction videos, but you live in a beautiful country as well. Please do some on your own wonderful country. The USA and the UK are said to be cousins. No. We are brothers and sisters. Please visit the UK soon and shake hands and embrace us as eternal friends.

Every time I watch your videos, ladies, I am reminded that whatever individual politicians or other public figures might sometimes say, the ordinary people of both our countries, and all the others around the world, are brothers and sisters at our core. This particular video provokes the thought that, no matter which side of any conflict we may be on, in the past, in the present or in the future, we remain brothers and sisters and as such we honour every last single brother or sister who gave their future for the sake of our present and future. No matter what uniform they wear or what language they speak, we can all learn a valuable lesson from them. Namely, that if we truly want to honour their sacrifice, we should all work together to make war unnecessary and a subject that, in future, will only exist in history books.
RIP gentlemen. May all your gallant souls rest in peace.

There absolutely is a mutual respect between the two nations and although our relationship may waver a little according to the politics of the day, there will always be the greatest love between British and American comrades in arms as they have fought as allies and friends in many fields of conflict including the two world wars. Just as both nations were given the opportunity on this occasion, to show respect for our long-deceased warriors, so we try to do the same. A handul of years ago an old gentleman in UK was spotted keeping tidy a memorial to WW2 American pilots who had died while crashing their plane in a park when it was returning to the country after a sortie over Nazi Germany. He felt responsible as he'd been a boy, playing in that park when the incident occurred and blamed himself, thinking they had brought the plane down where it would cause him and his friends, least harm. As a result the men concerned were given a fly-past by the Royal Air Force which was televised. And quite right too, and long may this warm relationship endure.

The British forces tend to bury their fallen in the country where they were killed in action, with military cemeteries all over the empire. I presume that it was not possible to bring bodies home in the time of sail. Admiral Nelson’s body, for instance, was one of the exceptions, because his body was preserved in a barrel of brandy in order to transport home. The Commonwealth Graves Commission are responsible for all these military cemeteries across the globe.

I don't Know what happened to my comment but ill re add this
To honour Canberra, the US Navy commissioned the Baltimore Class heavy cruiser, USS Canberra in 1943, the only US Navy ship thus far to be named for a foreign capital. In February 2018, continuing the tradition of honouring HMAS Canberra (I), the President of the United States of America announced that a future Independence class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS 30), will be the second US Navy ship to carry the name USS Canberra.
as a RAN Vet i hope this stays up

Lovely video ladies. Thank you from across the pond. I was so pleased to see the reactions from the local people but having many US friends I am not surprised. As people we are much closer than many others imagine. As a point of interest, fallen British servicemen & women, over the years, tend to be buried where they have died with their comrades, rather than being transported home. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is the UK body that manages these cemeteries on behalf of our Commonwealth allies (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many other nations) around the world and their distinctive cemeteries have always been visited with pride. The Great War battlefields of France and Belgium are covered with these cemeteries, their distinctive, poignant white headstones showing up with dignity, pride and sadness across the landscape of the old battlefields. I wonder if the CWGC will be involved with the new cemetery being prepared in Camden? Maybe that's something you ladies could look into? Thanks again for your heartfelt responses - very moving.

We have to recognise however, that the UK whilst historically an important country, is only the size of Oregon, with a population of 70 million.
The U.S is vastly larger and more powerful and has been since Britain rescinded it's empire after World War II.
The "special relationship" is far more important to the UK than it is to the US.
The biggest problem facing both nations is from within. Leftism and woke agitation by emotionally disturbed children, is a far greater threat than any foreign enemy.
Walk the streets of New York, San Fransisco, LA, London or Liverpool and you will see for yourself.

I may not see it but this gives me hope that one day someone might give my papa an honourable grave. My mother never got a chance to know her father since he was killed four months before she was born.
From the day gran was told he was missing in action till her own death on the 5th May 1960 she kept a lamp burning in the window every night

I genuinely believe the UK and USA to be the only two countries in the world that have gone from being enemies to friends with zero animosity. Other countries seem to hold grudges going back centuries, but us two don't.
I do wonder if it was the circumstances of the revolution? The American colonists believed they were upholding British law, and many in Britain at the time agreed with them on this. No tax without Parliamentary representation is a key part of old English/British law. In America it seems that their beef was always with the British government/George III, not Britain itself.
The American revolution really was a disagreement between two very grown up peoples

You do matter and always will matter to Britain. You’re like a child we gave birth to, nurtured, raised and like all children rebelled and finally flew the nest. To become a fine, strong, upstanding adult. We are proud of and will defend, no matter the odds. No matter the cost. No matter what Imbecile politician governs our 2 great nations. You can count on one thing having served with American cousins. The British forces will always have your back and be the first to join you shoulder to shoulder to fight, and die if necessary to defend the values of the anglosphere. That was paid for in love, blood and battle.
