  • This video demonstrates how to do the pressure vessel problems in Abaqus. Also, it shows how to transform the results from the global coordinate system to local cylindrical coordinate system

For people interested in FEA it's actually very interesting what you say about stable body not requiring any constraints. Why ? Because in pretty much all FEA programs it wouldn't work and you would have to apply some BCs anyway. Abaqus seems to be an exception here. I've also noticed that the same unusual behavior was used in someone's video about path plots.

I know you asked this 2 years ago, but I think the reason is because you actually have a condition which is enforced by the plane strain assumption (that is, the out-of-plane strains/displacements are 0). Also, when you use non-zero pressure on the inside, a indirect BC would be that the pressure on the outside is 0. Hope this helps someone.

Hello Abaqus Acumen, Great tutorial. Can you maybe do video about revolving 3D model from 2D planar model and transferring the results to it with
*SYMMETRIC MODEL GENERATION and *SYMMETRIC RESULTS TRANSFER options?

Why the radial stress at inner wall is 4.2 instead of 4.5? The boudary pressure is set to be 4.5

Because there will be pressure release due to expansion of the cylinder which will reduce the actual pressure acting in equilibrium.
