Laine and Kevin, I'm moved by the reverence and respect that you'll bring to the restoration of Hope Farm. It was lovely of Ruth to appear in your video and not only endorse but express the family's gratitude that Hope Farm won't be lost to future generations. Looking at the loss, especially that of Miss Ethel is tragic, but I'm sure she'll appreciate and approve you bringing the beauty and magic back to this wonderful property. She's in tough shape now, but the bones are there to bring her back to being one of the crown jewels in Natchez. Thank you, Laine and Kevin. And thanks to Miss Ruth for her welcome to the Restoration Nation.

Natchez is one of my favorite places to visit. I’m born and raised in the South and always dreamed of moving to Natchez in my retirement. My heart is that of a true Southerner who loves Civil War and Revolutionary War history. I have a huge library of Southern History. This story touches me deeply for many reasons. The other reason is my middle name is Hope. Thank you both for honoring Ethel and her family and our Southern heritage. I hope to return soon to see your work of art! My husband also had black hair and beautiful blue eyes and died at age 50 of a heart issue. So this story was so touching because he and I agreed this was our favorite place to visit. RIP “Miss Apple”.

I couldn’t help but think that the way some see Hope Farm as beyond saving is the way I saw myself before I began my walk with Christ. Thank goodness that His specialty is bringing beauty out of ashes! Although you’d never compare yourselves to God, you have a gift to see the beauty and potential in the ruin, and you have the love and the drive to bring it forth! What you are doing, in my opinion, is sacred work. These historical homes have meaning and purpose- and only those who share that love for them will understand why it’s worth it! Cannot WAIT to watch this process and see the beautiful results. Blessings to you for your journey! 🥰

I live on a small Texas ranch my husband bought in 1983. It has a home on it ,built in 1928. I’ve always loved that house but my husband’s job kept us living all over the world and unable to maintain it. It is falling to pieces and my husband has decided to demo it. It makes me sad but here in Central Texas we can’t find anyone to add an addition onto our new house, we would never find someone to help us restore the old house.
    Good luck and God Bless.

Hope Farm! What a lovely, fascinating, enchanting, historic place....and those gardens; awesome! Laine & Kevin, this is definitely a GOD send beyond the shadow of any doubt! You can feel it. This is supposed to happen. Hope Farm is supposed to be passed to you to save, restore, renew, reinvigorate, and reside in. Here's a relevant prayer: Lord, I maintain my hope in You, and I hold onto the assurance that what I am praying for is already accomplished in the name of Jesus. Your Word promises “no good thing does He withhold from those that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).
Thank you both for all that you do so magnificently all the time and for paying homage to Mrs. Ethel Banta and sharing that wonderful interview of her and the heartfelt segment from her daughter, a definite tearjerker. Y'all are the epitome of hope, loving kindness and compassion all the time, and believe me, it is beautiful to see and so very much appreciated by everyone!

This brought tears to my eyes. From the story of Ethel Grandma "Apple", to the story of loss of her father in law (my father who was born in 1936 died during his third open heart surgery when he was 46). Most people travel around without a thought about how old structures root our communities and our collective histories. There was a log lodge called The Silvertip Lodge where I grew up. It bordered Yosemite National Park. It burned to the ground. It was the first place my father ever worked (his family homesteaded land inside of Yosemite borders). It was an amazing structure. It is hard to describe the sheer scale of this log building. The ceiling was a mass of interconnected logs of differing sizes that created this lattice system. It was about three stories tall inside. I remember looking up at the ceiling and marveling at it when I was really little. It burned down and that broke my heart because my dad had died not too long before it was destroyed. It was suspected arson. The owners were losing a lot of money on the property and couldn't sell it

I remember the feeling of my heart in my throat, just watching both of you- watching you see Louise burning to the ground...helplessly. We all wanted to help you, and help Louise...wanted to stop this tragedy somehow. But it was impossible. Maybe it was a lesson, for us all, for the future, in "something"...that we yet didn't understand. I fully believe in things coming "full circle". I have experienced it many times, in my own life. I can think of no other individuals, other than the two of you, to honor Ms. Ethel's legacy...and to try and salvage this hugely important historical piece of history. Your heart , your passion, and your knowledge for restoration and rehabilitation- is second to none. Thank you...for what you do, and what you continue to do. You have touched and impacted more lives- in far more ways than you will probably ever know! This journey will not just be the two of yours...it will be all of ours that know and understand what this is really all about. ❤️

Focus on the desire, and it will be. Ruth certainly is her Mother's Daughter. They both are iImmense positive energies.
I am of the belief/knowing that only the vessel expires, we transition back to Nonphysical and are focused on that which we loved in our Life Journey.
She will be there every step of the way, and Im sure you'll feel her support.
Bless all involved in "Rebuilding Hope".

Oh. My. Goodness! The second I saw that house I instantly thought of Louise and how life could come full circle ...Hope indeed! I was watching this video out on the patio, I had burst into tears and my husband came rushing over ( he never heard of your channel...lol) and asked what was wrong. I said nothing is wrong... Louise is gone but now Hope is here. He looked at me so bewildered...haha.
    But what a fitting thought.
    I'm so happy for y'all.
I am sorry about Ms.Ethel ( my grandmother's name) though. You truly honor her, by saving her precious historic home.

A beautiful and loving tribute to the family and former owner of Hope Farm. Mrs Ethel sounds like the kind of person who be the first to jump in on a project just like this one. Lane and Kevin, you have your work cut out for you, but I could think of no one else that not only has the knowledge and work ethic, but in this case what was really needed was the heart. That sweet people is what you two bring. Blessings on your journey. My farm is called Miracle farm, but my name is Momma Hope, so that makes all the more special and the perfect name for this farm.

This gave me chills and brought me pause! Not just the tragic fire and loss of life that gripped all of our hearts, but the passion and commitment Lane and Kevin have not only to restorations, bur, rather to restoring hope to communities. Lane and Kevin have stepped-up-to-the-plate once again. It's very touching. My partner and I are proud members of Restoration Nation and happily support their efforts for the exemplary and rare organization that they are in the Restoration trade. I commend them for this noble undertaking. I have every confidence the end result will be nothing short of outstanding!

SO glad this property will be restored and not torn down! In Florida, it is getting easier and easier to tear down historic buildings--they even tore down 90% of the Victorian Era Belleview-Biltmore Hotel, which was the 2nd largest wood structure in the United States and was on the National Register of Historic Places. You guessed it--to build a bunch of condominiums. 🙄 If anyone can restore Hope Farm, you two can! Looking forward to watching this project progress. 😊

Thank you so much Laine and Kevin for taking on a project like this!! From another historic house lover, something like this would scare away most people. But the fact that you are doing it not just to restore the house, but even more so to honor Ethel and continue the family legacy, it just makes me so happy!! I cannot wait to watch the progress of this project! You two will make this an absolute showplace!! I will definitely be driving down from Nashville to Natchez in the future to see it from the outside when it is complete! ❤❤

I kept thinking the pic of you guys looked so familiar. I looked at the little house when looking for my old house dream. I think if I'm correct it was offered for 15,000$. ❤️ To much work for me at my age and not very many skills. I found my old house in 2019. Took 6 months to close. I've been here 5 years and love my old house.
I'm so glad you are restoring Hope. I'm definitely going to come visit on one of my travels.
I'm so glad I found your site. I look forward to seeing you on daily FB.

I am so thankful for everyone that went to work to save what could be saved. Of course, the loss of Miss Ethel can not be replaced, but her beloved home will shine again. Thanks to Mimi Miller and Carter Burns for their quick action. Mimi has been such an asset to Natchez.
When I heard that Hope Farm had been sold and would be restored, my first thought was I hope this is someone that will preserve the history and integrity of the property whenever possible. I was introduced to you through the 2 videos regarding Hope Farm and am so pleased to know that the home is in good hands. Blessings on both of you and prayers for a successful restoration.
