  • China has now been given authority to drive out GLA from Europe.
In Germany we have to destroy statues before International Approval for China drops too low.
One of the weirdest changes made to a C&C level was the removal of the Carpet Bombing from this one in patch 1.04. It turns what was otherwise challenging, but ultimately fair and at the time forgettable level into this.
This is a bit of an unfair level for people that don't regularly play RTS games, even those that beat campaigns on Hard difficulty.
The GLA have off map power, and an off map Palace and Black Market. This means that they have a production speed buff, a good stream of income even after you shutdown their main base and can always build the full range of vehicles. I think they also have a total of 8 Arms Dealers.
The "legit" way of doing this is very APM and micro intensive, you'll want to rush clockwise to the top base and take it out/capture it with infantry or go with an anticlockwise approach along the bottom edge with vehicles.
The two biggest annoyances here are the SCUD Launchers and Rocket Buggies. Rocket Buggies are only a threat defensively, so a couple of Listening Outposts at key points can deal with them, but SCUD Launchers hamper you both ways. Gattling Tanks are probably the best bet whilst attacking because of their speed, Gattling Cannons in your base CAN shoot down the missiles, but that stops them taking out other targets.
The infantry approach is probably easier on the whole than vehicular and taking the Supplies and buildings in the NW can diversify your army better with quicker units. Listening Outposts are key either way for detecting Demo Traps. There aren't Inferno Cannons in this level, which would have helped MASSIVELY. Dragon Tanks just don't cut it unless something is drawing fire.
Once you've taken the top a sweep through the centre with Red Guards flanking Battlemasters or Tank Hunters with Troop Crawlers will help.
You will notice none of this is what I did.
I wanted an easier to follow and easier to replicate method, so I had to think outside the box, or rather outside the scaffolding. This method is also faster than other methods, and I still could have been a couple more minutes quicker by using my vehicles quicker.
The main thing needed for this low intensity strategy is a ring of Listening Outposts that outreach your main base, with some vehicles in the centre with a Speaker Tower. The vehicles are mainly there to be bait for their approaching forces, and for the last couple of targets.
So what is the method? Speaker Tower scaffolding by the Statues. You'll want a large ring of Listening Outposts before the first plan goes down, because they'll instantly begin retaliating. Learn the Hotkey for the Speaker Tower and the Stop command, immediately press Stop after placing a plan so the Dozer doesn't move too far (though I would check it after every statue)
What the Speaker Tower placing does is forces their units to retaliate, as they're all tank shells/rockets this causes splash damage. The top Statue can be felled with minimal Towers if you get lucky with Scorpion Tanks firing, and it has the most obvious placement for the Towers to maximise damage. The others take a bit of working out. I could have taken all of them out using this method but take the closest two out with vehicles.
Judging by my forces, it should have been the southern three for the most speed, as I had a decent amount left to head NE after the final Statue was felled.
Next up a massive drop off in difficulty that I beat first time blindly, despite the surprises it tried to throw atme.
