    So many amazing talented Juniors soon to be seniors.

    It’s so great to see Juniors being paced well and not throwing big crazy skills and risk getting burnt out.

    Thanks for the reminder that Juniors are really juniors these days. I loved the lines of Madray Johnson (I hope I got her name right). She puts me in mind of Madison Kochian or even Nastia Lyukin.

    Your opening is true but only if not only peaking later but their hearts stay in it longer. With the exception of Biles, Aly and the possibility of the 2021 group returning with Sunislee, Jade and Childs, the history of one year Olympic greats has got to end.( Shawn, Nastia, Carly, etc) That was one of the gems of the other countries like Soviet Union, Romania, Etc. Their greats stayed great for 2 or 3 olympics.Olympics.
    On a brighter side, these young ladies are looking great with lots of potential.

      off the top of my head Biles, Raisman, Douglas, Skinner, Memmel, Sacramone, and Liukin were in contention for multiple Olympic teams (as in attended multiple Olymic trials) and it's only because of the intense competition in America that more aren't 2-time Olympians.

    • @donaldholderdoc2910
      @donaldholderdoc2910 Год назад

      @@Plaspos I absolutely agree with your comment in part 2 about the competition being very high. But it also supports my statement about the let downs after one olympics. I do have to apologize about Memmel. She is an incredible athlete and great lady. Her comeback after Two pregnancies and 34 years. But, erosion of the US at a much lower age than other country's successes with 2 and even 3 time ladies participating and winning medals at the games, not World Pre And even as FANTASTIC as Memmel was at age 34 with a great comeback, she Didn't make the 2020(2021 actuality) Olympic teams. And regarding Skinner, she was excellent for longer than others, but she was only 24 in Tokyo winning her Silver at her first competition in the Olympics. She was an alternate in 2016. Just As a comparison, Vanessa Ferrari of Italy was 31 in Tokyo and won Silver at her FOURTH (4th) Olympic games. Angelina Melnikova of Russia has won 4 medals at 2 Olympics, 2016 & 2020(21) and is a huge Olympic almost 'lock' for making it to her 3rd straight games in Paris in 2024 at an ironic age of 24.

      @Plaspos Год назад +1

      @@donaldholderdoc2910 I wasn't talking about 2020 for Memmel. Memmel made the team in 2008 but was also in contention in 2004 is what I meant. And actually if she was healthy in 2012 she would have been in serious contention too.
      Skinner is a great example vs. Ferrari because if Skinner was from Italy she'd be a 3 time Olympian too (2012 and 2016). And compared to Russia is also a great example because if she was from Russia she'd basically be taking Paseka' role and would also have made the team in 2012 and 2016 just for vault, like Paseka. Only because the US was so deep in vault was Skinner not a multi-time Olympian.

      @rachelmarie2228 Год назад +1

      @@Plaspos ..and in some cases, like Memmel's there were injury problems, otherwise she very well may have been a multi-time Olympian. My point being that she was a competitive elite gymnast for 3 quads, despite only being healthy enough for one Olympics (and even then not completely healthy).

    • @Plaspos
      @Plaspos Год назад

      @@rachelmarie2228 yes that was my point too. if she was healthy in 2004 she'd have easily made the team and in 2012 she would have either made it instead of Ross or been an alternate based on her 2011 routines before injury.
      I realize I had Biles, Raisman, Douglas, Skinner, Memmel, Sacramone, and Liukin as my group of athletes who contended for 2 or more Olympics, but in truth this group was even larger. The most prominent examples being Miller, Dawes, Chow, and Strug, but there were others too. Schwikert was alternate in 2004. Moceanu qualified to 2000 trials and Sloan to 2012.

      @@ssuigeneris Seriously? Suni is coming back. Jordan just won a bunch of medals at Worlds. There's even an annoying ex AA champ at Woga. With the NIL the College gymnasts are getting overscored even internationally and it's pretty obvious that Alicia/Chellsie who was going extra special attention to Jade at Worlds, means these juniors will have a hard time breaking in.

    Talented but boring. All about maximizing difficulty all the routines end up with basically the same formula.
    Editor to say, I am not in the least blaming the gymnasts for this. It’s all become very wooden, somehow.
