Really enjoying your videos! We’re in the third lockdown here in the UK, and watching pottery is helping my sanity! We’re planning on holidaying in Nova Scotia in 2022, Covid permitting, and your studio is already on my itinerary 👍😃
Thanks for watching. Many Brits have houses, second homes here, along with even more US residents, all locked out for a year now. I assume when we all have our covid passports there will be a relaxation on quarantine. I wonder how many tourist businesses will survive to 2022. We have done so well with keeping Covid out of Nova Scotia that the government just sent our vaccines elsewhere. My mother got hers in Sheffield, just waiting on the second dose. I hope we see you soon.
Guid timing.....my next 50 throws will be practice cylinders using 12oz. of lay for a 5" tall cylinder....hoping to reach the 5 by the 50th. More pointers to remember. Thanks for sharing Vaughan!
When you make those and put on the bat,do you cover them with plastic until you're totally finished the piece or until you can work on it,then when it's finished let it air dry.
Thanks for the question. When I make pieces I try to finish them all in one day and then store them over night in a damp cupboard for trimming the next day.

Thanks, I am on my second pair of wrists.
Yesterday I tried making some mugs but most were a fail. Will try again once I’ve watched you again, thank you
Keep trying and Simon says keep practising.
Great Video! I learned a lot of neat tips... I really like the way you do the foot or pedestal... haven't seen that before :)
Thanks for watching. You can make all sorts of wooden ribs for doing the foot.
Wonderful video!
Excellent demonstration

@@Vsmithpots ok thank you good to know
Thankyou for your video Vaughan. Typically for a pound of clay what's the height that you aim at for a mug?
4 3/4 to 5 1/2 inches depending on width
@@Vsmithpots thankyou so much. Really appreciate your efforts to teach beginners🙏
How many ounces of clay are you using for each cylinder (approximately)?
14--16ozs
I cut up a 25lb block of clay into 28 smaller pieces.
I always seem to have that little nibby thing when I open (I hope you know what I mean lol) how can I stop that?
You are pressing just shy of centre. Make sure you are right where the clay is spinning around your finger. Good luck.
