Today I went to Home Depot. $300 for the supplies I wanted for my raised beds:(
I went to the Salvation Army, bought a white dresser for $20! Pulled out all four drawers for raised beds, then pulled the front off the dresser for one larger raised bed. It looks respectable and I don't have the guilt or empty pockets that the first option would've cost.

I would love to see the final effect once all the plants were thriving!

Line the draws with plastic with drainage holes at the bottom and the wood will last a season or two longer

Two months later, drainage good, bare root rubbish, strawberry from garden centre ✌️

Wouldn't these get moldy after a few times watering plants? If so, is mold okay for flowers? I'm guessing probably not good for edible things like veggies....

is there any way to make drawers & dressers food-safe for growing veggies?

I have a dresser that's on its way to the dump. I'm sure it's particle board, so that means I can't use it at all?

You could probably use it for one year, until the damp causes it to fall apart. You wouldn't want to grow vegetables in there, though.

    Damn!
I had a dresser that i have been trying to give away. Someone took out all the drawers which now ibaee would have worked perfectly for the pumpkin starts i just got

I know how you feel! I gave away a dresser and was like that would have been perfect for making a DIY project! Didn’t think of it.

Using furniture, is the chemicals in treated wood leaching into the plants not a concern? I was considering a dresser

Surely you wouldn't try to grow vegetables in painted beds like this, right?

I think it's best to line with plastic bags and no paint if your growing food
