Hello guys! I discovered your channel last spring, preparing our summer family vacation in Danemark, were we had a blast 😍 Your channel is so full of energy, ideas and resources, I want you to thank you so much for sharing with us! It gave me so much ideas to prepare the trip, that has been amazing, and we had so much great time in Danemark 🇩🇰 When you released your video on Roskilde, we have been just a couple days before there, even the weather was the same! Waiting forward for your next videos, always captivating 😁 bises from France 😘
i used to live right behind the prison and i remember walking by and the inmates would scream out the windows. i got lots of lovely stories about that place.
I have not visited Horsens State Prison yet. But will do it soon. Another time you are in Horsens, I can recommend a visit to the "Industry Museum". Best wishes!
Looks like a great place to visit. Another closed prison to vist, could be "Vridsløselille" just west of Copenhagen. The same prison that Egon Olsen leave in every "Olsen Banden" movie. The area will soon be evolved to living space, so much will be demolished. I visited a year ago on a guided tour. There is also a small museum.
I moved to Horsens from New Jersey in July and have thought of spending the night at the prison. I will pass now lol. prefer mynown bed. You shluld check out the industrial museum if you make it back here. It is awesome. Many cool things here.
Funny, Miranda should be reminded of Johnny Cash. I'm an audio engineer and about 14-15 years back, or something, I did sound for a concert with Tommy Cash, Johnny's brother, in Horsens Prison, where he of course played "Horsens Prison, I hate every inch of you" :)
Would recommend to visit Frøslevslejren, which was a concentration camp in Denmark which also has a cool museum. I think it was the only one. Used under the 2nd world war
Eventually, try the former Cold War Fort on Stevns, with German cannons in tovers on the top (From a former German Battleship, Gneisenow) When deep down in the fort and the crews sleeping area, with beds, they turn off the ligth. And it is totally dark!!!
The place had the nickname "Slottet" (The Castle). I was visiting the area around the prison in November last year. Taking part in a sporting event for young people as one of the organisers.
I attended the inauguration (if that is even the right word for it in this context) for the state prison as a concert place in 2014, it was also my first Metallica concert! Was sooo good!
man i wish i had know you guys was here in Horsens then i would have come up ans said hi, since i live just belov the prisson :) when i was in 7 grade i was up at the prison museum, and it was the time where there still was prissoners there, to be honest very scarry lol and if you ever come again for a concert or some else event up on the jail, let me know because then you can park down by me, and then you dont have to walk very far :) b ut im glad you liked it. what did you think about the big axe?
Just for fun, here's the translation of what people stayed in your "suite" for: - Constipation - Fever, swelling of the throat - Bronchitis - Abcess on the scalp also, it says on the picture of the big scissor in your room that it was used for cutting open abcesses.
Cool, next time I go to a concert over there I might see if I can sleep in the sickward. Because go to and from Northern Zealand to Horsens by train as a person with Asperger's and ADHD, being slightly over stimulated from the concert. The trip home can be hell. So I rather pay for two nights at a hotel.
Fun fact: The name Horsens actually means "horse-ness" / "horse-næs". The word "horse" also existed in older Danish, but only exists in some dialects today 😉 ( and in older litterature - for instance "horsemor" (horse-mother) for a mare ).
The top bed in the cell is not a part of the original furniture as this will be a one man cell. You are locked in that cell for 23 hours every day and go to the yard for one hour every day. The radiosystem on the wall is for calling the guards Don´t ask how i know that :D
Policeman stopping Josh with his camera - "Hey dude, you look suspicious. Have you ever been in prison?" -"Yes officer, but only on visit" - "Hmm.. Have you ever spend the night in prison?" - "Yes officer, but....." - "Shut down that camera and come with us!" 😂
@@TravelinYoung Yep, fantastic that they kept it untouched all those years, not knowing the prison would become a museum. The museum in Nyborg has a letter from an inmate, after being denied weekend leave, took matters in his own hands, He "left" leaving this note: I'll be back Monday, so please do not cancell my dentist appointment Wednesday. 🤣🤣
You two are so much fun!😊
Another great video guys...👌🙂
Amazing that you keep finding interesting things to do in our small country 😄
Omg. You guys were here! Super cool you went to the prison. I think, I might have seen you guys at the beer festival.
Horsen's was prison city when I was young.Thanx for sharing

Thanks so much for saying this!! I means a lot for us to get this kind of feedback :).
Fun fact : When still in use, for it's original purpose, the stateprison in Horsens was called "Slottet", in english : The Castle

I was only about time they put you behind bars 😁
Many large bands have played in the yard of Fængslet.
Aerosmith, Rammstein, Metallica, Foo Fighters etc.

You Should go back to Horsens, for the Medieval festival.
The place had the nickname "Slottet" (The Castle). I was visiting the area around the prison in November last year. Taking part in a sporting event for young people as one of the organisers.
Miranda, your pronounciation of fængsel is perfect. Btw the first part is pronounced as the Feng in Feng Shui, at least to my ears.
my friend used to live 5min walk from there, and I have been to 2 metallic concerts there!

fun fact, when lorenzen escaped then he send Christmas card to the prison chef
Have you guys seen the move "R" ? It takes place here in Horsens Fælgsel, won a Bodil award for Best Danish Movie in 2011

2:20 Fængsel. No you said it correctly.
Shrimp heaven now!
Hotel Gitterly
Uhh my backyard😂😂😂
I suppose it's not unusual to end in prison after a beer tasting.
Ha-ha.
That's what happens when you steal our hearts!
I see what you did there 😋
So now you can surprise people with a comment like "Did I ever tell you about the time I was in prison?" 🙂.
3 meals a day. Paying work. Free water, shower, electricity, heat and gym. You pay for those things in a hotel 😉
Its more being let out again.
i live 500 meters from the prison 😃
NOT recreation! It's THE tunnel.
Haha yeah, we realized that after she said that. Amazing!!

Did anyone see the Wanted poster for these two suspiciously looking Americans? 😂
