Investigating Ancestry, Diversity and Disease Association through the HLA Lens.

Dr. Steven J. Mack is an International HLA and Immunogenetics Workshop (IHIW) Councilor, an Associate Editor of the journal Human Immunology, and President of the Society for Immune Polymorphism. In this forum, Dr. Mack will discuss applications of HLA diversity for understanding human population relationships, how ancestry impacts the ability to identify donors for bone-marrow and solid organ transplantation, and how HLA polymorphism directly impacts global patterns of disease association.
