Hey Hateless, just wanted to say a quick thanks for all your videos. I've been trying out new activities and your videos are always my first stop for tips & fits.
I haven't mined in about a year until today. At first I thought the asteroid was bugged or the count on the survey scanner was bugged because I wasn't getting the same yield as the scanner said. Then I watched this video and saw that they changed how crystals and strip miner II's worked, then I went and bought an ORE strip miner, haha :)
I'm cracking up right now because I bought a bunch of C crystals thinking they'd be "best" and couldn't figure out why mining rates were so low with them. Now I know 😂
So the mechanic seems to be "Mine Faster = Lose More Rock, Mine Slower = Lose Less Rock." It's a concept I'm okay with, but it would have been great for CCP to have added some skills to reduce residue, at least. I'm not sure at this point how much of a fan I am of CCP's implementation of this mechanic. The analogy of an oil pump spilling made perfect sense.
Fun fact, Mining crystals do not work for lvl4 mission ores like they were before. Tried to mine Arisite with Gneiss crystal (purple one) - didn't work. I submitted the ticket dunno if its intended or not or devs just forgot mining missions exist
i only have one thing that i think needs adding to this video. the residue gets removed from the rock BEFORE the ore that goes in your cargo. so if you get a residue cycle and the full cycle worth of residue empties the rock. you get NOTHING and the rock disappears into the void.
Thanks I was confused about this. it's not 34% of the total volume, it's 34% chance of residue, but it seems to take the entire amount all the time with me... I also did the math and the T1 mining crystals actually mine LESS than the strip miners. If you multiply the 1700M3 by the 0.66 (what's left over after 34% residue) you end up on 1120 (thereabouts). the strip miner I's do 1300+ per cycle. I don't know why you would use crystals tbh.
@@soros001 in practice the b type crystal mine alot they are just very wasteful been playing with different crystals and b types even with clearing rocks half the time mine more then a types
Thanks for the explanation bud, just logged in for the first time in months and was all o.O about the new changes. A quick note on residue explanation, in a perfect world, we'd all be using Type A and have more to go around, but in a world were CCP has made it almost a total waste of time to mine in high sec, the only worthwhile way is Type B II. Change my mind.
i got a question i'm newer player been playing maybe week or so now i am using a procuer in high sec but attempting to mine in high sec to get 1500bil isk but having hard time if i should get a retriver instead but people say it's risky to do so because gankers so i'm struggling with is it worth it as a new player to switch to a retriver to earn isk faster? i am compressing ore and hauling it my self or should i wait till i can use crystals then move retriver?
its going to take you a long time trying other things to get your first plex would be advised however continuing on this route its better to compress it yourself as that is free and hauling can be difficult the first question covetor and retreiver bears a similar risk i would also advise joining my discord and finding some people to mine with
@@HateLesSGaming thank you appricate the reply been watching a lot of your videos and even using the spread sheet for isk per hour mining and refinding all that stuff i did start with 1mil skill points and focused purely on mining and i used offer i got 3rd day was for 3 months of omega so jumped on that 20 bucks for 3 months couldn't pass it up so i'm fast track to getting most yeild fast as i can hauling compressed ore isn't to bad only couple jumps to a trade hub found and there is ice here too but that is even harder to decide if worth my time to mine that when it's available but yeah i'll def join the discord thank you for replying once again
Not sure if you mentioned it or not but I noticed today that the residue is applied before the yield when the cycle completes so if the residue reduces the roid to zero you get no yield for that cycle. This makes B type crystals pretty bad. It obliterated my productiveness so I switched back to A's. A's do it too though sometimes but much less. Heck at this point I might just go back to T1's...
I tryed mining with t1 and type a the type a definatly mined more tybe b is next and honestly is probably what I am going to find is the best for at least high sec lower cycle rates are really nice under boost this can also be countered by scanning your rocks
@@HateLesSGaming True but anyone just mining belts down to nothing without scanning the roids first or short cycling will lose out using B crystals. I was completely caught by surprise when I realized my numbers were crap due to the way residue is applied to a popping roid. Took me quite a while to figure out why it was happening when everything I was doing was supposed to be better not worse. If the roid doesn't pop you are golden. If it pops you often get nothing.
@@HateLesSGaming Exactly my point. I and others I've talked to in game were completely unaware that the residue is applied first to the cycle. I guess that was my point.
@@ParGellen yea its just kinda a thing now in larger belts and moons it is not really an issue but i would like to see it work a little more cohesivly where you get half on a and half is destroyed or something

3:14 Soo T2 ice "upgrade" mines 20% faster but you lose 34% of the ice? So is that only useful if you are low on time but ice for days? Where you're less worried about leaving some for later and or don't have enough time to mine the rest. Just like A and Bs for ore. Also Hateless, thanks for making this but suggestion: Go over what you're going to go over by yourself first, make notes or a script maybe. Save both our times while you spent a minute looking for say, the duration bonus on the bottom of the info screen. Also makes you look more like you know the topic and not winging it. Mean that all with love. Think C's should be banned in 1.0 though or bare min suss. Maybe 0.9 too. From a noob protection standpoint. Gotta get them invested in the game before you just ruin their day. Also that noob maybe one day will be a corp or fleet mate. No need to scare off new blood. Like the 15:15 reference, think good way to explain it.
eve developers indeed have the best ideas to ruin the game more they were not satisfied with scarcity now making people lose yield. Thank god lot of people left once the scarcity started.

Great to hear!
This was super useful and made it really clear! It is such a relief to know that residue doesn't reduce what's ending up in my hold!
You first example of the fast oil pump spilling over is PERFECT, don't say you gave bad examples.

amazing content, well done HateLesS, original work.
Thank you very much for all the help you give us, thank you.
thanks for the explain i was stuck on the "lost of residu" and now i understand :)
Could you please make a video about basic reprocessing and manufacturing?
Thanks!
its possible but will take time i have to learn a bit more about it
