Putting Freeman in the #2 spot, with Ohtani in the 3 spot, might give Freeman better pitches to hit.
I feel like he’s already getting good pitches to hit, he has got will smith behind him. Some of the pitches he’s whiffing on and getting weak contact would get crushed if he’s hitting like usually is

Defense is in shambles. Lux’s inability to play SS has ruined us. Mookie needs to be at 2B. We need a SS period. Dave Roberts going to die by his inability to facilitate run production. Small ball has worked for a century but has been forgotten. Bullpen is a dumpster fire.
Roberts gives players a runways that’s longer than they deserve.
Gavin Lux SUX bad hitting isn't worth having to have Betts at Shortstop! Move Betts back to Second base, play Rojas at Shortstop and roll with the punches 👊 👌 Dodgers should have better chance of winning with this formula!
Miggy Ro knows how to play. I have more faith in him low in the lineup than Outman, Lux ,CT, or Kike. He can do what's needed to be done. The little things that can become big things to win a game.

Yamamoto is just an ok pitcher, not the 300m pitcher everyone was hoping for
Dude needs way more time to adjust. Before the season started, I figured he needed at least 1/4-half the season.
He has a high K rate low walks and great underlying metrics. Deserves an ERA in the low 3s. Fastball catching too much of the middle of the plate and needs to be either high or on the corners, could perhaps benefit from a slider/sweeper, but I don’t think he needs to adjust much else.
I was surprised how hittable Yamamoto’s fastball is. His other stuff is good.
that's a crazy thing to say after 4 starts. imo people are overstating his struggles. could have three wins by now if not for the bullpen or poor offense. also dude has some of the best stuff i've ever seen just needs to get better at knowing what to throw when and how to use the top of the zone on his fastball.

Why wait for October for the season to be over? It’s already over in April… Muncy’s at bat with the base loaded was difficult to watch… those swings were for HR or bust instead of getting a single…
The June-July-August stretch is when set teams apart in terms of ranking ... right now, it is still experimenting time.

Bases loaded today in the first no outs, 4th batter not one pitch over the plate and strikes out, 5th batter strikes out 3-2 count, 6th batter Outman only one pitch over the plate and strikes out on that pitch

I’ll take this “spiraling” now rather than a complete meltdown in the first round of the playoffs.
The silver lining here is that it’s early in the season and time is on our side to get all these issues addressed.
The key for Yamamoto is to use his fastball up. His fastball middle middle with no movement is a recipe for disaster and he kept using it! Why does Roberts not address it!
Also…the Mets are better than being given credit for…
Will Smith is an OFFENSE FIRST CATCHER!! NO GOOD AT playing the position of CATCHER!!! Give me a LEGENDARY DEFENSE FIRST CATCHER that hits 10 homers a year, but that's just me.
I agree, if the bottom of the lineup wasn’t such trash and we can’t experiment with Smith at another position atm.
Roster is simply overrated. They have 6 hitters, one starter and one reliever
Yamamoto does have wipeout stuff, he just needs to get guys out when he has 2 strikes.
I'll tell you guys what, I hear what you're saying. As a Mets fan I was definitely afraid going into this series and facing Yamamoto. After the first game of the series, I'm now expecting 2 out of 3 before we go off to stomp the Giants (Butto has been lights out for us, so you'll be jumping all over Houser for game 3). The defense did not look good at all, and those errors will definitely all add up. The bats will come, might need to mix up the bottom of the lineup to stretch things out by proxy. If the non producers can at least draw walks then some of the more lethal bats can try to do some more damage.

Two costly mistakes in the infield by Mookie and Smith, Trout had a tough time when batting behind Ohtani, might have to put Freeman behind Smith or before Ohtani.
We need to get more extreme because this makes sense.
Seriously, are the supposed top hitters’ job is to get on base or have the best opportunity to drive in runs.
The Dodgers need to move somebody or get somebody who can be at the top of the order and also be a base stealer.
It’s indeed time to break up the Top 3 at the top of the line up. The concept is simple. An opposing pitcher has pressure to get the first guy out no matter what. The batter needs to be selective and draw walks and turn it into a double by stealing.
Having that guy on second plays mind games with the pitcher because you have to make the pitcher think you’re stealing signs.
Gavin Lux might be able to fill this role. So against right handed pitching:

Freddie Freeman is still very very good 👍 but don't expect a .300 hitter with 59 doubles and 20 plus steals!

Every team in the league is studying the Dodgers and game planning like a playoff. Dodgers seem to be pressing...those defensive errors as a point, the infield still isn't set and then there is the bull pen. It's all fixable but we're only 8 games away from May. When does Spring training end?
It’s still early to be worried, though I admit it’s aggravating and frustrating. Sometimes, I feel like punching something-yes. In my opinion, the team is working out some kinks. Personally, I believe they should put Betts at second base and keep him there. The defense is a concern. Even though it’s only April, those little things can accumulate. If the Dodgers continue their inconsistent and shoddy performance into late May and early June, then I’ll genuinely start worrying. Muncy swinging for home runs with bases loaded baffles me. Why not just aim for a base hit and keep the momentum going? Freeman’s swinging outside the strike zone is frustrating, but I hope he’ll adjust soon. Yamamoto has room for improvement, but the issue, IMO, lies in the pitch selection during critical moments. Those two-out, must-get-out situations need better decision-making. And don’t even get me started on the bullpen-it’s been problematic. I’m indifferent about who’s coming back; there’s no certainty they’ll be effective or good. Lastly, the inconsistent offense-geez. I’m not panicking, but the Dodgers always seem to make things harder than necessary. Seriously. While no one can predict who will win the World Series, I’m certain it won’t be the Dodgers this year. The bottom of the lineup needs improvement for that to become somewhat of a reality. I'm looking to next year because it's definitely not this year.

9:45 He also missed on the high fastball on a 1-2 count I believe to Alvarez. Will Smith set up high out of the strike zone, and Yamamoto missed and threw it over the heart of the plate. The Broadcast mentioned that the strike zone in Japan is different where it is wider but less vertical so perhaps high fastballs are less in play there? If that is the case, it will be an adjustment he will have to make.
He needs more RPM on the ball if he's going to pitch higher in the zone with his height.
@@natsumikan77 It would tunnel with the high curveball he likes to drop in there. If the hitter guesses right on the high curveball, it will get crushed like the 3-run HR he gave up yesterday. Need a good high fastball to keep hitters guessing.
Perhaps the key is the height of the release due to his height. and command ability

Until all the players plus Dave Roberts get rid of their sense of entitlement and HUGE hubris, this team is going nowhere. They refuse to do the fundamental, basic stuff like sacrifice bunts, hit-and-runs, and double steals. The players continue to swing for the fences. It's all or nothing!

It is early but I cant help but think of the 80s Angels. They bought everyones Superstars and the Angels were never able to build any chemistry. I see no chemistry with the Dodgers right now. None. It can change but right now I see another Dave Roberts failure.
