This is the side of underground mine exploring that most people don't talk about, This is a perfect example of what can go wrong while exploring old mines , especially vertical shafts. We are so very thankful that Tony made a full recovery and did not suffer any broken bones. Give him a shout out, we know it would make his day and for more vids of exploring deep mines just watch this vid ruclips.net/video/ZUdeKHJxWsE/видео.html and smash that like button.....smash it HARD !!!!!!
You forgot mechanic, engineer, electrician, framer, fabricator. 😂
@@EnergyTRE hahahaha Thanks
@@Askjeffwilliams Thank you sir. Glad his leg didn't get too beat up. Great content brother
@@EnergyTRE we are too
Today at 67 with supposed disabilities, a cable winch would have to be used to haul me in and out. That said, it would be a lot of fun to explore the mine looking for free mill gold specimens and dowsing for hidden high grade gold ore shoots.
Burn all that drift wood vs hauling it out? Any other way to pump out the water?
Well, on the Brightside I know where I might find water if I get lost in the deserts of the southwest...
Maybe I missed the answer to this question but where did all the water go 🤷♂
I saw a black widow web down there. They keep the roaches in check. Blimey.
Glad Tony is ok. Gonna have to check his channel out. Curious though, do you guys ever worry about gas, lack of oxygen? What precautions do you take? As a hiker, I've been weary of stagnant water in closed spaces, hydrogen sulfide, methane accumulation, and good ole bacteria.
thanks and yes we use air meters ....I personally have the Altair 4XR
You can see the red pay layer.
There looks to be plenty left to mine out.
JEFF LETS REOPEN THIS MINE
Tony's a rope vet too, which only goes to show how easily this stuff can happen to anybody with no warning. Falling debris in shafts (or along any vertical length) is a massive, massive danger that has sent far too many to their maker. Glad he was alright! "MY ice cream!" lol. Stay back Burro, that man deserves his treat!
Too right..! That's MY ice-cream and I aint sharing! 🤣
happy mothers day to the boss of the williams house, the woman with the BIGGER THEN LIFE GOLD NUGGET
thanks .... shes the best
@@AskjeffwilliamsYes, she is! 👍😉
SRT - Single-rope technique is a set of methods used to descend and ascend on the same single rope. Single-rope technique is used in caving, potholing, rock climbing, canyoning, roped access for building maintenance. Or in this, to run away from cockroaches the size of your fist!
Thanks for saving us a Google search
You forgot arborist work😂😂😂
You could sling a MAD on these SRT ventures as a safety precaution. Just a thought. MAD=Motorized Assention Device. It's a small motor driven portable spool/ cylinder with a locking gate. 3 to 4 raps around the horizontal spool, close the gate capturing the rope. Lock into your harness and pull the trigger. Up you go with a broken leg.
Common Spelunker tool for deep cavers. It's tough jumaring up a 1500 ft cave in Mexico. You two probably have seen them already. (I've never used one, but knew about them being on a few deferent teams myself. Very cool stuff. Back in the day they used a 2 stroke small gas engine that stunk every thing up. I am "assuming," that now it's likely there might be a LiPo version. I'm glad he is okay. That was a nail biter for me. I've had a number of close calls myself, and this kinda stuff brings back the cringe.. Thanks for sharing men, now I'm going to get a shot of whisky.
Ouch !!!! Hope he makes a speedy recovery ! Just shows how dangerous mine exploration can be. Despite that, it doesn't look like it would much to clean and rebuild the lagging ? Pumping water from lower levels will take work, but might be worth it at over 1oz/ton. Be safe brother !
yes he did my brother ....he is a real trooper..... thats what we were thinking too
That is the quickest way down but, without ahoist the return climb is BRUTAL!
Thank you, Tony! Safe journeys, Thanks, Jeff for the Mother's Day special!
Wow… Tony was very lucky with that rock impact, it could have possibly broken his knee cap. This proves that safety equipment… like a hard hat, is always a complete must. You can be safe and still get injured. This is a good example , of why rookies should never attempt to enter old mine shafts. Even the best professionals like Tony can get injured with the safest practices. I’m sure Tony was very hobbled and sore the next day! Great video Job Tony, glad you’re OK!!!
As always Jeff……C’mon Let’s Go!!! ⛏️⛏️⛏️💯💯💯
yes he was ....it was very close to doing that or his shoulder ....you are very right about that ....yes he was but made a full recovery and thankfully no broken bones
Thank you for your thoughts. I am still VERY sore and bruised but nothing permanent,.. I was lucky. You do what you can to keep safe and prepare but sometimes things happen outside of your power. 🤕
@@Askjeffwilliams Yes…very fortunate!
@@tonyp6626 Glad you’re doing well! You’re a brave man!
Hi Jeff, there's nothing better than exploring old mines and even better told by a geologist! and associates. I follow you buddy.
thanks
Thanks Tony for taking a rock in the leg for us hope you recovered ok. I found it very interesting with the water levels and stacks of wood it’s a shame the shaft was all plugged up it would take forever to clean that all out and get to the lower levels after it was pumped dry. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
you betcha
im the first comment! YAY! THANKS FOR THE VIDS JEFF!
That's a handy man jack.
As Jeff mentioned rocks falling this is a part of mine exploring most people especially on RUclips don't talk about. I went down a 80 meter shaft and rocks kept falling down from a very unstable collar. Rocks of all sizes, and when they zoom past you they actually make a noise like a woosh sound. One rock half size of a golf ball hit my arm and it hurt bad. Another similar size hit my leg and it hurt. Unless you know what you're doing stay out of mines.
Should have had him tie that high lift jack up . They range from 80$ 180$ up to 200 depending on the size .
Its dried layers of idk what 😂😂😂☠️ i like this guy. He definitely doesn't like roaches. Thanks for the content sir. Nothing like learning a new skill
Real deadly mine shaft...lose rocks are dangerous...nice video Jeff....May the pants blown clean of👍greetings from the Netherlands 🎉🎉
Thanks 👍 my brother from the Netherlands
Thank you Tony an Jeff for sharing. Glad ur ok. What a mess.
Thanks for the great content Jeff!
you betcha
Common, let's go!!!!
I have the same problem with insects inside cavity, I don't like it. And today Tony was very Lucky... almost 👍
That was cool! Glad he's ok. He did a good job leading us to see down there. That Jack was classic!
Have a great day Jeff.
That's a Hi Lift jack . 4x4 jeepers etc carry those in there rigs and they are very useful on the trail for breakdowns flat tires and any vehical damage where getting the truck. Raised up is a must . It was thrown in , is my guess and likey helped bring down alot of timber unfortunately
Probably the FBI again...
Good Job Tony! Thanks for the Visit.
6:28 Are you sure that wasn't Jeff Williams doing the official depth test? 🤣🤣 All Jokes aside, I am glad the man was not severally injured and on a side note. Those timbers look scary as hell.
Well done for not swearing (too much) Tony!
Hope the rock was ok!
😅
I recon I would have had the high lift jack out of there! 😂
Yes sir, At least rescue the hi-lift. That's one of the genuine articles too. Aint one of them harbor freight chinesium specials.
You just had to post this sketchy (used to be called scary) video on Mother's Day. I like your drone shots of the Landscape and flowers and stay away from that cute looking cactus!
Glad, there were no life threatening injuries. Safety first, as always. But Murphys laws, have flaws. So come on let's go
Super glad that rock did not strike him on the head or shoulder. Thank you for another nice video!
If he would have been looking up at the time when that rock fell it would have busted his face up really bad
Glad Tony was ok. Scary moment. Thanks for showing the inside of this mine.
Tony you need wear knee protectors when descending. Jeff and Lila very interesting exploration 😊 . Slim threw the rock down. He was jealous because he wasn’t able to participate
I have a tip from a miner with no expierience. If you descent in a mine with a gas meter (Oxygen, HydrogenSulfide etc) I advise not to descent too fast so the measurement device has the time to register the current value. It could be you have decended a dozen metres in to a poisonous atmosfere before you get an alarm. I guess it easily take 10 seconds, but I think you have to find out by playing with your meter.
Sunny Jim, whos potato chip bag was that?...Who the owner of this mine?......Bloody hell, bet that hurt.....Is this mine save able?.......Enjoyed your Video.....Spot on old Son.....................JB.
mine, private , yes , thanks
Charlie you bit my finger and it really hurts too Charlie
That was a good handyman jack.
I've always called them Hi Lift ... looks like a good one ....
I saw the bag of lays bbq you friend is very lucky. As he ventured In deep. It's almost like the destruction was intentional. Your prologue stated the old-timer held a federal agent at bay till the sheriff showed up. Hum 🤔 one can see intentional destruction. Noway to say who did it. Interesting and the rock. Was there silver in that mine???? Another great video. Jeff next time hide your lays. Betcha can't eat just one ❤
hahahhahahalooks like someone like BBQ chips huh ......yes he is ..... that one was close..... yes but the timbers are soft so the may have started to fall and caused a chain reaction..... it was a Gold mine my brother haahha I know...right
Glad Tony is okay. All I could think about when that rock came down and hit Tony was all of your other videos of you throwing a rock down for a depth test. Lol Another awesome video, Jeff. Thank you!
you betcha
But I want one of those red worms you can keep the gold…LoL 😂
I'm a former tree climber for over a decade, and a 250ft descent and ascending on a rope is a serious workout. Tony is tough.
yes he is ....the very best
Glad to see he's ok that rock looked pretty gnarly..
Wow I hope he’s ok it was great seeing that mine I’m learning about SRT myself about the difference about the kinds rope be safe everyone
Tony and I will be releasing a SRT gear video in the near future. We filmed it while we were out with Jeff and Lila. ruclips.net/channel/UCRKyrHIxHCu3DTWnDvGqAJg
Thanks for sharing with us Jeff 🤠⛏️ Be Safe 🙏
Yeehaw! Hello Jeff & Lila! Can we get slim to shread will we rock&roll ? Muck,Muck,Muck. I know 500 comedians out of a job and I'm trying to be funny.
While not will
Glad Tony didn't get hit in the shoulder or collarbone might have to have a rescue very interesting thanks for the video Jeff
exactly
Thank you. Yes, we did have a discussion afterwards about how a rescue would have been made. Fortunately our close friend Joanne was with us and she has enough knowledge and experience to have been able to organise a rescue plan with the gear we always have with us.
It is something to think about though if you are out and about on ropes. It's extremely easy to go down a rope, a little tricky going up a rope (you do need the correct equipment and a knowledge of how to use it), but setting up a rescue is a completely different thing. If you want to take part in this 'sport' you do need to ensure you are able to get your self out of trouble. 🤔👍😁
What were the odds of that rock hitting your kneecap? Hope you feel better soon Tony!
Thank you. I was very lucky.
They all float down there...
Tony is a Tiger Took that Rock Oh Yeah!!!! And he didnt Even Get Wet!!!; )
Ha..! 😆 May have wet my pants a little though... 🙄🥺
I Florida we call them Palmetto bugs ! It's a nice way of sugar coating a super sized COCKROACH !
Lightweight Football outfit and skating outfit with knee pads elbow pads shoulder pads. Lightweight cause it's hot and humid.
Those two wooden beams didnt look good, either. Please, be careful, overall caving/exploring accident are nasty! I know you are skilled...but it would be shame.
Good luck out (or in) there 👍
DFP is still loving your music. Best on the internet, or RUclips, or whatever. Peace out, I'm gone.
I don’t believe he’s from UK I can actually understand what he’s saying 🤷♂️ 🤣 sure he ain’t South African or kiwi land? them folks at well let’s just say speedy’s competion Especially when they get excited I’m just there to look at pictures then 😲👍 😐
There was absolutely no reason for that rock to fall.. Nothing even touched the wood or the rock.. Can you say, angry spirits?
Thats what we were thinking
@@Askjeffwilliams I mean, you mess around with the sound board a bit, but we all know nothing touched it..
As always, excellent video, Jeff hope the English chap is OK and walking better. Keep up the good work.
Back when I lived in Vegas one night I was out in my backyard at night during the summer and was looking out towards the mountains. I noticed something weird about my back wall of my fence it looked like half the wall was moving....
Turns out it was those nasty German coackroaches....I sure did go through some cockroach spray that night ....thousands of them all over the ground the next morning on both sides of the wall....dead.
Wow this is extreme exploration! So cool to see this! No way I could go down there! I am so tempted by Load mines but I will have to settle for my placer claim in the sun! Deep respect! Great video! Stay safe Tony!
Nice video. Hope all is well with You and Lela. Hope you are staying cool wherever you are at. Pahrump is somewhere around 118 degrees. Have a care, my friend.
DFP
Seems to me Jeff... You have yourself a new mineshaft!!!!! Wish I was in the states, to be able participate in a chance to come out to your claims.
13:41
At least it’s not scorpions
I saw some cockroaches once in Texas.....they were so big you could've thrown a saddle on 'em and rode those babies!!!
Rock on lol thank for the share Jeff. goes your buddy tony have a RUclips channel ?👍👍👍👍🤘✌️
no , we wish he did ....he has done incredible work and tours in the Slate mines of the UK
Thank you for your time showing us the inner deeps of cockroach heaven 😂. Super Kool exploration 👍👍👋✌️
Well that was a cool video.
Say hello to your redcoat friend.
He's alright man !
One of these days you should tell us what you mean when you say:
" you're in like Flynn"
I just woke up this morning and it hit me !
I got sick again . I got the GOLD FEVER 😆
That’s exactly why U never go into mines ,old or what ever , without a buddy . Might not make it out ! Have a good one !
Great informational video again Jeff. More like this please.
You can hear that rock come loose above and you hold your breath for a couple of secs till it hits 😮 Yeeeouch.
Ouch! Thankfully, it was only an ouch. 👍
Peace Prospector Tripp
Could you do a video on magnetic induction metal detection and vere off into how the sun might effect the earth through induction? Locating buried facilities is annoying there must be a better way let's go all the way yeah yeah yeah
I have my eye on a small narrow fast flowing creek wound up like a knot and checking all the boxes
like you always say gold mining is a dangerous thing to do be careful and when in doubt stay out listen to that voice in your head that's God talking to you and when you stop listening to that voice is when things happen and it may not be so good keep up the good work jeff and stay safe
Do u watch Gold Rush? One of my favorite shows... is this out in Nevada
Wow! That old hole isn't gonna last a ton more time. Would take months for a small crew of dudes to shore that up, and a buttload of timbers. Spooky stuff, lucky rock shot, could have been so much uglier.
Wow that was a close call with that rock or what we call in the oil patch a near miss I would never wear a hard hat without a rim that goes all the way around the hard hat so if something falls from the dirrick that 2 inches may help deflected that rock it would definitely save the nose 👃
wow, never thought Jeff was English until halfway through this vid
You should clear things that could possibly fall as you are descending.
Awwww! Someone left brownies there for you?!? Nice.
You should come down to Yuma or head out to the Owens valley in California. I might be able to get you into Cerro Gordo
i think it should be illegal to leave open mine shafts miners should have to full them back in
JEFF ON SHORTS I SEE SOMEBODY NEW CALLS HERSELF ELLIE KNOWS GEOLOGY SHE LIVES OUT WEST THERE SO PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH HER
Hola Jeff ,creo que no vale la pena arriesgar tanto la vida..Saludos desde chile
I like your "in like Flynn" most dont know of that anymore I think.
Do roaches as big as your fist. What do they eat? Are there dead bodies down that hole?
Wild to think how dry that place has outta be for that wood to be in such decent condition
Walk it off.. reply I can't I'm hanging on a rope.
Why is there so much wood piled up in that shaft 🤷♂
At least if you see the cocka roaches ya got good air. No roachies no oxygeny
Nothing to see in old mines , why to risk your life’s for nothing 😢
Hey, great place for immigrants to explore!
GREAT JOB YOU GUYS..BEST WISHES..
thanks
I DEMAND You Entertain MEEEEEEEEE with more videos hahaha
That must have hurt like M.F.!
Tell Jeff to throw down the dynamite to open up the shaft lolol
Oh yeah Jeff....also the t-shirts are heading for Proxima b section in the zetical planetgroup with 3 suns!👍🧨💥🎇🇱🇺pants to the US🇺🇲
hahahhahaha the greys should see them pass by
Thank you Jeff, I’ll leave it to the professionals!! You guys are so fun. Speedy Cavers reply, yea I’m alright, Jeff extremely concerned..Joann there for backup cool! Love these professionals too ❤😮
thanks Lisa
