Should you grease inside the arm where the motor spins that large screw to open the gate? I can't find any info on that. Only ever says to put lithium grease on the outside part of the arm. Surely the inside needs grease?
Hi Scott, The worm drive and drive nut running through the centre of the arm is heavily greased and doesn't require any maintenance. We've purposely enclosed and sealed this section of the arm to stop dirt/dust entering where possible. The main drive nut is brass, so can handle a high number of openings without issue. Some of our test gates have done as many as 50,000 openings in some pretty harsh conditions, and after being inspected, the worm drives are almost as clean as the day they were installed.
Thanks for the video! Is there a way to adjust the minimum distance limiter? I'd like my gate to open less - right now it goes over 90 degrees and is banging into a fence.
Hi Tyler, There is an adjustment available. Ideally you would attach the fully retracted arm to the gate when it is in the open position that you want. However, for a common pull-to-open gate, the limit switch closest to the main motor housing can be adjusted so that the arm doesn't fully retract. You will need to remove the smaller locating screw before it will move and you can ONLY move the limit switch AWAY from the main motor housing. If you need any further information, submit a ticket to our gate support team and include any photo's or video that you have of your gate. They will be able to give you a more detailed and personalised response. www.gatesupport.richmondau.com
